If so, have you perhaps forgot to remove the '#' commenting out the line? Below is the relevant portion of my cvsweb.conf: $ grep -m1 -A6 CVSrepositories /usr/local/etc/cvsweb/cvsweb.conf @CVSrepositories = ( 'optimator' => ['optimator', '/usr/home/cvsroot'], 'freebsd' => ['FreeBSD', '/home/ncvs'], # 'openbsd' => ['OpenBSD', '/var/ncvs'], # 'netbsd' => ['NetBSD', '/var/ncvs'], # 'ruby' => ['Ruby', '/var/anoncvs/ruby'], ); Regards, -Jonathan From owner-freebsd-cvsweb@FreeBSD.ORG Sat May 10 03:02:47 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-cvsweb@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 07BC6106564A for ; Sat, 10 May 2008 03:02:47 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from noackjr@alumni.rice.edu) Received: from smtp109.biz.mail.re2.yahoo.com (smtp109.biz.mail.re2.yahoo.com [206.190.53.8]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id B40638FC19 for ; Sat, 10 May 2008 03:02:46 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from noackjr@alumni.rice.edu) Received: (qmail 97931 invoked from network); 10 May 2008 03:02:45 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO optimator.noacks.org) (noackjr@supercrime.org@66.56.30.84 with login) by smtp109.biz.mail.re2.yahoo.com with SMTP; 10 May 2008 03:02:45 -0000 X-YMail-OSG: 7PZPVCgVM1kGsaIBK3fifHXtVB0_ItzPfLyKpJ7j7Enwz0aHLPILGVFunwC.4mvGBUS85S2OEHM3TtpzP1nV.qa_awxJumTaL9w2H11tpl1M.kzRdlFVUm13CLYZO6lfOTE- X-Yahoo-Newman-Property: ymail-3 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by optimator.noacks.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7AA7F6163; Fri, 9 May 2008 23:02:45 -0400 (EDT) X-Virus-Scanned: amavisd-new at noacks.org Received: from optimator.noacks.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (optimator.noacks.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with LMTP id iYMQgAPm0a6q; Fri, 9 May 2008 23:02:43 -0400 (EDT) Received: from www.noacks.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by optimator.noacks.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 37F0560F3; Fri, 9 May 2008 23:02:43 -0400 (EDT) Received: from 192.168.1.10 (SquirrelMail authenticated user noackjr) by www.noacks.org with HTTP; Fri, 9 May 2008 23:02:43 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <51056.192.168.1.10.1210388563.squirrel@www.noacks.org> In-Reply-To: References: <51070.192.168.1.10.1210191089.squirrel@www.noacks.org> Date: Fri, 9 May 2008 23:02:43 -0400 (EDT) From: "Jonathan Noack" To: "sanjay dalal" User-Agent: SquirrelMail/1.4.13 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Importance: Normal Cc: freebsd-cvsweb@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Error:No valid CVS roots found X-BeenThere: freebsd-cvsweb@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: noackjr@alumni.rice.edu List-Id: CVS Web maintenance mailing list List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 10 May 2008 03:02:47 -0000 Please don't top-post. You should still be able to see CVSROOT, however. Check your Apache error logs. If CVSweb can't see the directory for an entry in CVSrepositories, it'll print a warning that should appear in the Apache error logs. This is almost definitely the problem. Check /var/log/messages and /var/log/audit/audit.log for any related SELinux messages. CVSweb needs read access to your CVS repositories. Normally the CVSweb cgi script will be run by the same user as Apache. Regards, -Jonathan
