Both the box and the card are clearly marked with the word "Atheros" showing that the device uses that chipset. The applicable driver would be ath(4). I used pc-bsd version 1.4 after installing the card and it was easily recognized. Info on the device can be obtained at frys.com (item #5208977) or at airlink101.com. This card is fairly inexpensive - the normal price at Fry's Electronics is $29.99, and it sometimes goes on sale for about half that amount. I hope that this helps. This is now clarified in the "Understanding journaling" section. - A new section "Journaling new partitions" was added (explains how to use a single provider for data / journal on an empty/new partition and how to set the size of the journal) - A "further reading" section was added with a few links related to journaling. - Various other small fixes in content / markup. Please review this new revision and send me your comments. These represent problem reports covering all versions including experimental development code and obsolete releases. Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. By default it assumes an empty type and that the filename matches the '*', so "foo_load=YES" makes the loader do 'load foo'. The *_type and *_name can override the type and name so that the two variable sets above both correspond to 'load -t mfs_root /boot/mfsroot'. The point is that there is nothing magical about "mfsroot" in "mfsroot_load". I'm not sure if the *_load stuff is documented completely, but that is how you would document this. -- John Baldwin From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Apr 29 23:20:24 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: doc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B1A57106564A for ; Hi Alfred, You are so right to ask for feedback. On the other hand, there are reasons that can make you trust in me. As you see, I'm a member of EnderUNIX Software Development Team that is the first open source group of Turkey, and established BSDCONTR (Kris Kenneway @ FreeBSD, Marc Balmer @ OpenBSD, and Pawel Jakup Dawidek @ FreeBSD has attendant to this conference. Moreover, you can ask me to Robert Watson @ FreeBSD). Thanks in advance and best regards. --=20 Metin KAYA EnderUNIX Software Developer Endersys Software Engineer http://Www.EnderUNIX.org/metin =EF=BB=BFhttp://Www.Endersys.com.tr --=-Y8Bkx8pPR9ixWt50J00J Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBIGrmBzqkeMQu9AqQRAgRwAJ4uPA7abMz7OD4o4YhT7Z+hxFfzngCgguBX SNTsbgx0Fmy/Skhcgr/bc2U= =KJjX -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=-Y8Bkx8pPR9ixWt50J00J-- From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Fri May 2 10:38:44 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 89913106566B; Fri, 2 May 2008 10:38:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vwe@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6832B8FC1A; Fri, 2 May 2008 10:38:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from vwe@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (vwe@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m42AciOh061829; Fri, 2 May 2008 10:38:44 GMT (envelope-from vwe@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from vwe@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m42AcijR061825; Fri, 2 May 2008 10:38:44 GMT (envelope-from vwe) Date: Fri, 2 May 2008 10:38:44 GMT Message-Id: <200805021038.m42AcijR061825@freefall.freebsd.org> To: keramida@FreeBSD.org, andrew.george.hammond@gmail.com, vwe@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org From: vwe@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: docs/118332: man page for top does not describe STATE column wait events X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 02 May 2008 10:38:44 -0000 Synopsis: man page for top does not describe STATE column wait events State-Changed-From-To: feedback->open State-Changed-By: vwe State-Changed-When: Fri May 2 10:37:44 UTC 2008 State-Changed-Why: Feedback has been provided. I naturally go to the man page for top to find out. If it's not directly in there then I want a pointer of where I should look next. So, to clarify my prior email, it'd be nice if the man page listed some of the more common states and what they mean and then provided a pointer to the canonical documentation. I found it very useful in my work, so I think it should be shared with the members of the FreeBSD Documentation Project. I did not see anything like this in the repositories, but you can throw me rocks if somebody has already done this before :) I generalized and prepared it a bit and it should work for any language in the doc/www tree. The format of the output is tuned to be comfortable for generating commit messages, however this feature should be enhanced in the future. It contains a few "awk(1)ward" tricks, so your suggestions and comments are more then welcome.
