These represent problem reports covering all versions including\nexperimental development code and obsolete releases.\n Bugs can be in one of several states: o - open A problem report has been submitted, no sanity checking performed. a - analyzed The problem is understood and a solution is being sought. f - feedback Further work requires additional information from the originator or the community - possibly confirmation of the effectiveness of a proposed solution. p - patched A patch has been committed, but some issues (MFC and / or confirmation from originator) are still open. r - repocopy The resolution of the problem report is dependent on a repocopy operation within the CVS repository which is awaiting completion. s - suspended The problem is not being worked on, due to lack of information or resources. This is a prime candidate for somebody who is looking for a project to do. If the problem cannot be solved at all, it will be closed, rather than suspended. c - closed A problem report is closed when any changes have been integrated, documented, and tested -- or when fixing the problem is abandoned. Shouldn't you have a newbie section on the WWW? I have no idea what is going on. I'm a Microsoft boy but need to learn FreeBSD for a project. Please can you let me know what these files that I downloaded actually are? . 7.0-RELEASE-i386-bootonly.iso o Boot only? Does it download files from the Internet to install the OS? Does it allow you to repair an installation? Why is it available for download? I have the entire 7.0 release 32-bit and would like to know what this file does. . 7.0-RELEASE-i386-livefs.iso o What does "livefs" stand for (Live File System? What?)? What does this disc do? I've seared google.com for "what is livefs" (in quotes) and got one result: http://www.bsdforums.org/forums/archive/index.php/t-56962.html It's a forum, and on the post, the guy doesn't know what it does. Last thing, what languages does FreeBSD support? I have a specific way of organising my software and like to know what languages the system supports. Please can you answer the three things highlighted in orange. Thank you for your time. Live FS is a Live Filesystem, It may allow you to run FreeBSD with out overwriting what ever is already on the computer by booting the computer with it in the CD drive. What Languages? Hum, many. Most European and Asian languages. I'm not the one to answer that question properly. -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org [mailto:owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org] On Behalf Of Brad Smith Site Sent: Monday, May 12, 2008 2:41 PM To: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Subject: For the Newbies Hello. Details are available from the following URL : http://www.lucidsystems.org/printingworks/printersetup I am quite sure that PrinterSetup will work under FreeBSD. Although, to my knowledge it is has not been tested on FreeBSD. If anyone is managing many CUPS queues or many printers then PrinterSetup is a useful utility. The purpose of this email is to bring this tool to your attention. With the hope that if you also believe it would be useful for other system administrators that you may add some information to the BSD online documentation about it's existence. I believe that this would result in less people have to go though CUPS queue management hell which I personally experienced was before creating PrinterSetup. PrinterSetup is not currently part of any package management system. You just download it. The download is the source code. If it turns out that PrinterSetup is useful for people using FreeBSD. Then I would be happy to arrange to have a link established on the PrinterSetup web page which links to the FreeBSD home page, hopefully with the great FreeBSD logo. Why you may ask. The answer is simple, FreeBSD absolutely rocks and more people should try it out! Finally, the FreeBSD documentation is a fantastic resource. Thank you very much for maintaining this great freely accessible information. Your work is certainly appreciated. Keep in touch. Maybe it is because there was a documentation bug in the Committer's Guide (doc/122917) and many committers did not update the corresponding file. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: So, here is my suggestion (as a patch): --- doc.share.pgpkeys.pgpkeys-developers.patch.1.diff begins here --- ==== //depot/projects/docproj_hu/doc/share/pgpkeys/pgpkeys-developers.sgml#1 - /home/dezzy/.prjs/FreeBSD/perforce/projects/docproj_hu/doc/share/pgpkeys/pgpkeys-developers.sgml ==== --- /tmp/tmp.4074.64 2008-05-17 15:24:21.983714353 +0200 +++ /home/dezzy/.prjs/FreeBSD/perforce/projects/docproj_hu/doc/share/pgpkeys/pgpkeys-developers.sgml 2008-05-17 15:16:26.106288591 +0200 @@ -34,11 +34,21 @@ &pgpkey.mat; + + &a.araujo; + &pgpkey.araujo; + + &a.asami; &pgpkey.asami; + + &a.jadawin; + &pgpkey.jadawin; + + &a.timur; &pgpkey.timur; @@ -364,6 +374,11 @@ &pgpkey.billf; + + &a.patrick; + &pgpkey.patrick; + + &a.danger; &pgpkey.danger; @@ -374,11 +389,21 @@ &pgpkey.gioria; + + &a.daichi; + &pgpkey.daichi; + + &a.mnag; &pgpkey.mnag; + + &a.grehan; + &pgpkey.grehan; + + &a.jmg; &pgpkey.jmg; @@ -434,6 +459,11 @@ &pgpkey.mich; + + &a.lwhsu; + &pgpkey.lwhsu; + + &a.foxfair; &pgpkey.foxfair; @@ -559,11 +589,21 @@ &pgpkey.mlaier; + + &a.alex; + &pgpkey.alex; + + &a.erwin; &pgpkey.erwin; + + &a.laszlof; + &pgpkey.laszlof; + + &a.lawrance; &pgpkey.lawrance; @@ -589,6 +629,11 @@ &pgpkey.jylefort; + + &a.stephane; + &pgpkey.stephane; + + &a.netchild; &pgpkey.netchild; @@ -644,6 +689,11 @@ &pgpkey.arved; + + &a.dryice; + &pgpkey.dryice; + + &a.nemoliu; &pgpkey.nemoliu; @@ -704,6 +754,11 @@ &pgpkey.matusita; + + &a.mm; + &pgpkey.mm; + + &a.tmclaugh; &pgpkey.tmclaugh; @@ -729,6 +784,11 @@ &pgpkey.sanpei; + + &a.jim; + &pgpkey.jim; + + &a.marcel; &pgpkey.marcel; @@ -764,6 +824,11 @@ &pgpkey.max; + + &a.maho; + &pgpkey.maho; + + &a.yoichi; &pgpkey.yoichi; @@ -789,6 +854,11 @@ &pgpkey.anders; + + &a.lofi; + &pgpkey.lofi; + + &a.obrien; &pgpkey.obrien; @@ -844,6 +914,11 @@ &pgpkey.gerald; + + &a.pirzyk; + &pgpkey.pirzyk; + + &a.jdp; &pgpkey.jdp; @@ -854,6 +929,11 @@ &pgpkey.krion; + + &a.sepotvin; + &pgpkey.sepotvin; + + &a.markp; &pgpkey.markp; @@ -899,6 +979,11 @@ &pgpkey.benno; + + &a.paul; + &pgpkey.paul; + + &a.beech; &pgpkey.beech; @@ -989,11 +1074,26 @@ &pgpkey.nork; + + &a.syrinx; + &pgpkey.syrinx; + + &a.vanilla; &pgpkey.vanilla; + + &a.cshumway; + &pgpkey.cshumway; + + + + &a.bms; + &pgpkey.bms; + + &a.demon; &pgpkey.demon; @@ -1039,6 +1139,11 @@ &pgpkey.sobomax; + + &a.dcs; + &pgpkey.dcs; + + &a.brian; &pgpkey.brian; @@ -1144,6 +1249,11 @@ &pgpkey.flz; + + &a.viny; + &pgpkey.viny; + + &a.ganbold; &pgpkey.ganbold; --- doc.share.pgpkeys.pgpkeys-developers.patch.1.diff ends here --- >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat May 17 14:14:05 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DA37A106566C; Sat, 17 May 2008 14:14:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gabor@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id AF8668FC13; Sat, 17 May 2008 14:14:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gabor@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gabor@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m4HEE5ru013824; Sat, 17 May 2008 14:14:05 GMT (envelope-from gabor@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gabor@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m4HEE504013820; Sat, 17 May 2008 14:14:05 GMT (envelope-from gabor) Date: Sat, 17 May 2008 14:14:05 GMT Message-Id: <200805171414.m4HEE504013820@freefall.freebsd.org> To: gabor@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org, gabor@FreeBSD.org From: gabor@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: docs/123762: [patch] Add Missing Developer PGP Keys to the Handbook X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 17 May 2008 14:14:05 -0000 Synopsis: [patch] Add Missing Developer PGP Keys to the Handbook Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-doc->gabor Responsible-Changed-By: gabor Responsible-Changed-When: Sat May 17 14:13:50 UTC 2008 Responsible-Changed-Why: Take. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=123762
