Purpose:

 

NEP Broadcasting, LLC., with headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and
offices in California and New York, is known worldwide as a quality provider
of broadcast management services.  NEP's divisions include the following:
NEP Supershooters is the premier provider of mobile television units; NEP
Denali is the premier provider of mobile television units geared toward
entertainment events; NEP Visions is the premier provider of mobile
television units in the European marketplace; NEP Screenworks, located in
California, is the world's largest provider of mobile and modular Jumbotron
and LED daylight video screens and NEP Studios is the largest teleproduction
service provider in New York City.  NEP is committed to providing
state-of-the-art technology to its clients and is highly regarded in the
industry for its focus on client service and satisfaction. The purpose of
this position is to maintain a sophisticated, multi-server computer network
and provide technical support for NEP employees using the system.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

*          Maintains a multi-server computer network in a mixed OS
environment with minimal downtime and loss of data.

*          Responsible for all systems administration duties including but
not limited to architecture, maintenance, and support of primarily Unix
based (Free BSD) application, database, and email servers.

*          Conducts performance monitoring and provides appropriate system
tuning to guarantee responsive system performance.

*          Tests and deploys relevant software at most current and stable
releases. 

*          Write scripts to automate administration tasks.

*          Coordinates the implementation of computer systems with company
personnel and outside vendors.

*          Performs all upgrades and repairs to the entire LAN.

*          Builds, deploys, and maintains "Green Box" network systems for
Mobile Units.

*          Installs and sets up PCs and software as needed for employees.

*          Addresses system-wide problems promptly.

*          Provides technical support to employees and other IT staff
members.

*          Develops plans to safeguard computer files against unauthorized
modification, destruction, or disclosure.  Uses virus protection software
and other software to maintain the security of the system.

*          Maintains the daily backup of critical systems and monitors the
performance and resources of the system network. 

*          Creates backup strategies to meet business data recovery needs
and optimize system performance. 

*          Writes reports to document computer security and emergency
measures policies, procedures, and test results.

*          Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:  

*          Bachelor's degree in computer science desired. 

*          At least 3 years experience with maintaining all aspects of a
comparably sized network.

*          Heavy experience with UNIX (FreeBSD) systems, deployment,
maintenance, and troubleshooting.

*          Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, script writing and maintenance
skills (e.g., shell, perl, PHP), administrative familiarity with relevant
technologies (e.g. OpenLDAP, Apache, Mysql). 

*          Experience with two or more of the following: basic network
protocol troubleshooting, security assessment tools; email administration
experience especially with open-source mail tools (SpamAssasin, Sendmail,
IMAP-UW, Blind DNS), list server, and delivery issues; database
administration support.

*          Good communication and customer service skills along with well
developed problem solving and analytical skills.
