Since the port(s) now supports CC, I decided to use that. With CC set to /usr/bin/gcc, I rebuilt the port. And got the same problems. Remember, /usr/bin/gcc is version 3.4.6 on this system. Then I set CC to /usr/local/bin/gcc42 and rebuilt the port again. And now mplayer works without problems. So it seems like mplayer needs gcc > 3.4.6. And BTW, you were right - ports are using $PATH to pick up compilers if nothing else is set. -- Regards, Torfinn Ingolfsen From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Feb 10 21:26:30 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 138FB16A419 for ; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 21:26:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SRS0=UbNTSE=S7=vvelox.net=v.velox@yourhostingaccount.com) Received: from mailout07.yourhostingaccount.com (mailout07.yourhostingaccount.com [65.254.253.60]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B486013C45A for ; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 21:26:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from SRS0=UbNTSE=S7=vvelox.net=v.velox@yourhostingaccount.com) Received: from mailscan03.yourhostingaccount.com ([10.1.15.3] helo=mailscan03.yourhostingaccount.com) by mailout07.yourhostingaccount.com with esmtp (Exim) id 1JOJDQ-0002Do-Ex for freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:55:56 -0500 Received: from impout02.yourhostingaccount.com ([10.1.55.2] helo=impout02.yourhostingaccount.com) by mailscan03.yourhostingaccount.com with esmtp (Exim) id 1JOJDQ-0002Z7-BK for freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:55:56 -0500 Received: from authsmtp08.yourhostingaccount.com ([10.1.18.8]) by impout02.yourhostingaccount.com with NO UCE id nwvw1Y0020ASqTN0000000; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:55:56 -0500 X-EN-OrigOutIP: 10.1.18.8 X-EN-IMPSID: nwvw1Y0020ASqTN0000000 Received: from c-98-206-161-17.hsd1.il.comcast.net ([98.206.161.17] helo=vixen42) by authsmtp08.yourhostingaccount.com with esmtpa (Exim) id 1JOJDQ-0006AY-06 for freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:55:56 -0500 Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2008 14:57:47 -0600 From: "Zane C.B." Yes, I have also been experiencing this issue with the current version in ports (1.62.3). I tried 1.61.27 as you mentioned and the meta data works properly again. -Mark -- Internet Radio: Party107 (Trance/Electronic) - http://www.party107.com Rock 101.9 The Edge (Rock) - http://www.rock1019.net IRC: MIXXnet IRC Network - irc.mixxnet.net (Nick: MIXX941) From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Feb 10 22:08:29 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E1DBC16A41B for ; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 22:08:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mezz7@cox.net) Received: from eastrmmtai113.cox.net (eastrmmtai113.cox.net [68.230.240.32]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7DB2A13C45E for ; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 22:08:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from mezz7@cox.net) Received: from eastrmimpo01.cox.net ([68.1.16.119]) by eastrmmtao105.cox.net (InterMail vM.7.08.02.01 201-2186-121-102-20070209) with ESMTP id <20080210214505.VMWT20314.eastrmmtao105.cox.net@eastrmimpo01.cox.net>; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 16:45:05 -0500 Received: from mezz.mezzweb.com ([24.255.149.218]) by eastrmimpo01.cox.net with bizsmtp id nxl11Y0054iy4EG0000000; Sun, 10 Feb 2008 16:45:01 -0500 Date: Sun, 10 Feb 2008 15:46:09 -0600 To: "Zane C.B." While I'm interested in any feedback/bug reports, initially I want to focus on fixing important problems on FreeBSD6, before moving my development platform to 7. There are known (API) problems with the saa kernel module under FreeBSD7+, so this is something that I plan to address soon but not just yet. A quick test earlier this evening also revealed that after a cold boot the saa backend's tuning doesn't seem to work at all. This I want to address before moving to FreeBSD7 (likely in the next beta). The bktr, cxm, and pwc backends seem to work alright. I'm aware of some GUI bugs/bloopers but none are showstoppers ATM. Kbtv2 comes as one single source tarball, with 3rd party stuff (kernel modules, firmware) included. It's split up into ports like this: multimedia/kbtv2 multimedia/kbtv2-backend-bktr multimedia/kbtv2-backend-cxm multimedia/kbtv2-backend-pwc multimedia/kbtv2-backend-saa multimedia/kbtv2-core multimedia/kbtv2-gui-qt4 multimedia/kbtv2-kmod-cxm multimedia/kbtv2-kmod-pwc multimedia/kbtv2-kmod-saa The first is just a metaport with RUN_DEPENDS for the others (if selected), the core classes can be used without the GUI, and the backends can be used together with core or by themselves (as C libraries/python wrappers to them). Backends require SDL and swig, the cxm backend also ffmpeg. The GUI uses PyQt4 (not KDE4). I've been using newer versions of SDL and PyQt4 than the ones currently in ports, but I don't expect any difficulties because of that. Kbtv2, the app, can be installed without interfering with any existing kbtv1 install. Application/config data goes into ~/.kbtv. Web page: http://freebsd.ricin.com/kbtv2 Detailed documentation: http://freebsd.ricin.com/kbtv2/README Please note that I receive PAL (B/G) here, and forcibly that's all I can really test. I have a bktr848 video capture card in the machine and I would like to reccord video and save it in a decent format (something that could easily be played on most movie player on Windows and X, xvid, mpeg, etc.) in the full 640x480 resolution. I have been playing around with fxtv and dtv and transcode and... Dtv can reccord the video to a file, but I don't know how to convert this file into something that can be used. I tries ffmpeg, but it core dumps both on /dev/bktr and on the file reccorded with dtv. Mencode has so many options, I don't know how to run it. That's a pain, ffmpeg is a nice little tool when it hasn't been broken. It might be worthwhile seeing if you can find an older package of it and try that. > Mencode has so many options, I don't know how to run it. Most of them have to do with specifying the output format and encodings (it does support rather a lot of them). Start with something like this mencoder tv:// -tv driver=bsdbt848:norm=PAL:input=0 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=2400 -oac 'mp3lame' -lameopts br=128 out.avi You may need to specify a different input depending on where your camera is plugged in and how the board is wired. You might want NTSC or SECAM instead of PAL. You can fiddle endlessly with the lavcopts trading off quality, size and CPU utilisation. -- C:>WIN | Directable Mirror Arrays The computer obeys and wins. | A better way to focus the sun You lose and Bill collects. | licences available see | http://www.sohara.org/ From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Feb 15 07:40:03 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0243016A46C for ; Fri, 15 Feb 2008 07:40:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BBFDE13C4EB for ; Fri, 15 Feb 2008 07:40:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (gnats@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.2) with ESMTP id m1F7e24D065076 for ; Fri, 15 Feb 2008 07:40:02 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.2/8.14.1/Submit) id m1F7e2ij065075; Fri, 15 Feb 2008 07:40:02 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2008 07:40:02 GMT Message-Id: <200802150740.m1F7e2ij065075@freefall.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org From: Dominic Fandrey Cc: Subject: Re: kern/119973: [snd_maestro] snd_maestro only works after reload (regression) X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Dominic Fandrey List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 15 Feb 2008 07:40:03 -0000 The following reply was made to PR kern/119973; it has been noted by GNATS.
