Now I've done that, and oh =20 its nice.. :) The only problem I've got right now is that I cannot get =20= hpacucli to work on FreeBSD 7. After aloot of work, I got it running. But it cannot seem to find my =20 controller :/ What I had to do to get it running at all was install =20 compat4x, 5x and 6x (i think?), then using the hpacucli port I moved =20 the librarys from lib to lib32, and edited the startscript so the =20 ACUXE_LOCK_FILES_DIR pointed at lib32 instead of lib. The funny thing =20= was that the program started just fine without this dir, I never got =20 any errors, but I didn't get a CLI interface either... Well, after pointing to the correct lockfiles dir, I got it running. =20 However it doesnt seem to detect my SmartArray P400i controller at all: # hpacucli .P Array Configuration Utility CLI .2. This box has only 6 SATA connections (CD & HD are SATA), not IDE interfaces. FreeBSD 7.0 CD1 (i386) starts but stops with an error: ad0: 238475MB at ata0-master SATA150 acd0: DVDR Same problem. * Other HP machine with IDE CD -----> No problem. * HP Proliant ML110 G5 with FreeBSD 6.2 CD1 (i386) -----------> No problem. * HP Proliant ML110 G5 with FreeBSD 6.3 CD1 (i386) -----------> No problem. I made a Google search and there are people with similar problem: http://www.google.com/search?q=acd0+TIMEOUT+READ_BIG+freebsd+7.0 I tried to change my BIOS settings and/or use no-ACPI boot. Same problem. I went outside for more than one hour and when I returned sysinstall was launched. So, retraying the CD unit for a longtime worked (?). I made my installation but I found two more problems: * On-board NIC was not detected: # dmesg | grep pci14 pci14: on pcib4 pci14: at device 0.0 (no driver attached) * shutdown -r now did'nt restart the system. The system was blocked at: All buffers synced. Uptime: 56m6s Same problem with NIC detection and machine reboot if I install 6.2 or 6.3 in this machine (ML110 G5). I have many ML110 G4 working with 6.2 without problems. Any ideas? All of the blades running Windows Server 2003 work just fine. The mission-critical FreeBSD blades running 6.3-RELEASE see the cards as bge devices, but both ports show status: no carrier. I'm using the 1Gb ethernet pass-thru modules to a 1Gb unmanaged switch. Both the pass-thru module and the switch show the ports connected at 1Gb. But FreeBSD still shows no carrier. Anybody have any suggestions? ___________________________________ NOCC, http://nocc.sourceforge.net From owner-freebsd-proliant@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Apr 1 02:45:11 2008 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 890BF1065673 for ; Tue, 1 Apr 2008 02:45:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from jcagle@gmail.com) Received: from wx-out-0506.google.com (wx-out-0506.google.com [66.249.82.231]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3FC7A8FC15 for ; Tue, 1 Apr 2008 02:45:10 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from jcagle@gmail.com) Received: by wx-out-0506.google.com with SMTP id i29so2101627wxd.7 for ; Mon, 31 Mar 2008 19:45:10 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=domainkey-signature:received:received:message-id:date:from:to:subject:cc:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition:references; bh=qCsXqSvZDjreHqhqqo9XPvQT9bxzVd4vKUClSWMFOb0=; b=gr8Asfun7cGOTix3YlcRlo2H8IT+OJQ2ByN8BMewHMc85zafsjS4NF8S4xjfZrbHrk/EscT/rrCYQ93BRpxAP8al9cuk33C1jvEOn4sullhP1dX5TKehxMiE4CVt6R+5WcjiraalFBVS4TCcwd9V9Iyiu/yGc0XBVDyJjNZMGTU= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=beta; h=message-id:date:from:to:subject:cc:in-reply-to:mime-version:content-type:content-transfer-encoding:content-disposition:references; b=mEemcHKoR7vw66vFJz35pmUBk1XL3D2rx0SIVpLNVDK0d/F1IwwO94jnBJ3eNF/thUwJA4W5i8/YakzYt0GY6gvnCf6aqZju+UnHXGo0//eL/9oF4KgCI/Ijv3xQobN/QfYN99lytxmZW2Bcox0+0UtvsWqA9mgQy6x/U3Wcz8Y= Received: by 10.100.93.19 with SMTP id q19mr17819240anb.4.1207016204374; Mon, 31 Mar 2008 19:16:44 -0700 (PDT) Received: by 10.100.44.17 with HTTP; Mon, 31 Mar 2008 19:16:44 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: <6863f0c90803311916p638e6b02gf40b1a8b0075589f@mail.gmail.com> Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2008 21:16:44 -0500 From: "John Cagle" To: "Greg Himes" In-Reply-To: <200803312334.m2VNYvFo031314@mail.laaco.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline References: <200803312334.m2VNYvFo031314@mail.laaco.net> Cc: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org Subject: Re: c-Class Connection Prob with HP NC326m Mezz Card X-BeenThere: freebsd-proliant@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "Technical discussion of FreeBSD on HP ProLiant server platforms." Hi Greg, I would check two things: 1) has the bge driver been updated for 5715S support? 2) disable speed auto-negotiation in the driver, and in the switch. If you use the pass-thru, it only functions at 1Gbe. This might be your problem. John
