Sorry for the inconvenience - I am newbie... I buy NVidia ION nettop with Intel Atom 330 processor without OS... ... Can I install FreeBSD on such nettop ? What is platform I must to use: x86 ? But as I know Atom 64bit processor ... ia_64 ? But ias I understand, its only for Intel Itanuim processor... I think, that question to "freebsd-embedded" - is optimal way to get answer on my question... In order not to clutter the mailing list, you can reply to me directly at bdmalex@mail.ru. You can download the USB-stick image (8.0-RC1-i386-memstick.img) for it, which will make it easy to do a quick check. To take advantage of the 64-bit capabilities you have to install the amd64 distribution, so use 8.0-RC1-amd64-memstick.img. --- Gary Jennejohn From owner-freebsd-embedded@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Oct 8 11:45:07 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-embedded@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C0CA91065672 for ; Thu, 8 Oct 2009 11:45:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from olivier@gautherot.net) Received: from mail-pz0-f185.google.com (mail-pz0-f185.google.com [209.85.222.185]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A25688FC20 for ; Thu, 8 Oct 2009 11:45:07 +0000 (UTC) Received: by pzk15 with SMTP id 15so5353561pzk.3 for ; Thu, 08 Oct 2009 04:45:07 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.142.149.37 with SMTP id w37mr88428wfd.142.1255001070176; Thu, 08 Oct 2009 04:24:30 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: <20091008132006.70957695@ernst.jennejohn.org> References: <20091008132006.70957695@ernst.jennejohn.org> From: Olivier Gautherot Date: Thu, 8 Oct 2009 06:24:10 -0500 Message-ID: To: gary.jennejohn@freenet.de Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Cc: freebsd-embedded@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Sorry for the inconvenience X-BeenThere: freebsd-embedded@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Dedicated and Embedded Systems List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 08 Oct 2009 11:45:07 -0000 Hi Dmitry! I would also recommend the i386 distribution. Just for a counterpoint, I am running FreeBSD 7.2 amd64 on an atom based motherboard. amd64 works fine and my rough understanding of intel type architectures say you are better off with amd64 over i386 when given the choice (more registers etc).
