I added some notes on how to use the net/netcat6 method to: http://wiki.netbsd.se/Mirroring_NetBSD#Adding_IPv6_Support_to_cvsupd.288.29 This document actually has a lot of FreeBSD mirroring notes, too. Another method not discussed was faith(8) -- it's a great way to map your v4 endpoints into v6 addresses; especially if you've got a lot of legacy v4-gear that has no v6-migration path, like layer4 application switches & load-balancers. ~BAS --=_blackout-55908-1253032842-0001-2 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Description: This is a digitally signed message part -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) iEYEABECAAYFAkqvw4kACgkQCne6BNDQ+R+XywCfdN5qkvNeRgFjlUkfKk8eaZoI 1fgAn0pkxtN2ctQCbbjL4V2tVYhUlJnU =LDXj -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --=_blackout-55908-1253032842-0001-2-- From owner-freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Sep 18 11:52:37 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 55D001065672 for ; Fri, 18 Sep 2009 11:52:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from so14k@valentine.liquidneon.com) Received: from valentine.liquidneon.com (valentine.liquidneon.com [216.87.78.132]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3DEB88FC26 for ; Fri, 18 Sep 2009 11:52:37 +0000 (UTC) Date: Fri, 18 Sep 2009 05:19:31 -0600 From: Brad Davis To: freebsd-hubs@FreeBSD.org Message-ID: <20090918111931.GB47480@valentine.liquidneon.com> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Cc: Subject: FTP Mirrors please provide HTTP access X-BeenThere: freebsd-hubs@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: "FreeBSD Distributions Hubs: mail sup ftp" List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 18 Sep 2009 11:52:37 -0000 Hi All, A few of us would like to request that all FTP mirrors start allowing HTTP access to the same URL. What we are looking for is the path to be the same. i.e. only the the protocol should change. For example, we should be able to change: ftp://ftp4.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/distfiles/dits-2.2.34.tar.gz into: http://ftp4.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/distfiles/dits-2.2.34.tar.gz If you run a FTP mirror, please set this up. If you are worried about running something big like Apache, perhaps running a smaller HTTP server like thttpd would work for you.
