I tried this as well, no luck. I can dual-boot this system into either i386 or amd64. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions? Have you tried to set vol and pcm=20 > controls to 100? Try also to set ogain to 0 and 100. Yes, I tried that - but with no significant results. Also looks like "ogain" option does not affect the sound loudness at all - so settings it to 0 or 1= 00 does nothing about the loudness. --=20 Eugene N Dzhurinsky --8t9RHnE3ZwKMSgU+ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.11 (FreeBSD) iEYEARECAAYFAko0rWEACgkQy/i/DoZLbHxLsACaAuTlOvcKUyA+uZtMdicBJ7CC nu8AoL44CEqkmi98JNoF+x8B/0eRC/4Q =K1yc -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --8t9RHnE3ZwKMSgU+-- From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Jun 14 18:47:55 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C54021065672 for ; Sun, 14 Jun 2009 18:47:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from rick@kiwi-computer.com) Received: from hamlet.setfilepointer.com (hamlet.SetFilePointer.com [63.224.10.2]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 4B8448FC16 for ; Sun, 14 Jun 2009 18:47:55 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from rick@kiwi-computer.com) Received: (qmail 5407 invoked from network); 14 Jun 2009 13:47:54 -0500 Received: from keira.kiwi-computer.com (HELO kiwi-computer.com) (63.224.10.3) by hamlet.setfilepointer.com with SMTP; 14 Jun 2009 13:47:54 -0500 Received: (qmail 73185 invoked by uid 2001); 14 Jun 2009 18:47:54 -0000 Date: Sun, 14 Jun 2009 13:47:54 -0500 From: "Rick C. Thank you, Ok, I will look on it, but could you instead first try one more thing, may be it help. Change first arguments of bus_dma_tag_create() calls from NULL to bus_get_dma_tag(sc->dev). May be some parent bus will be able to announce 32bit limitation correctly without need to specify it. -- Alexander Motin From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Jun 15 16:00:07 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D62641065676 for ; Mon, 15 Jun 2009 16:00:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from rick@kiwi-computer.com) Received: from hamlet.setfilepointer.com (hamlet.SetFilePointer.com [63.224.10.2]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with SMTP id 568FF8FC30 for ; Mon, 15 Jun 2009 16:00:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from rick@kiwi-computer.com) Received: (qmail 43429 invoked from network); 15 Jun 2009 11:00:06 -0500 Received: from keira.kiwi-computer.com (HELO kiwi-computer.com) (63.224.10.3) by hamlet.setfilepointer.com with SMTP; 15 Jun 2009 11:00:06 -0500 Received: (qmail 81113 invoked by uid 2001); 15 Jun 2009 16:00:04 -0000 Date: Mon, 15 Jun 2009 11:00:04 -0500 From: "Rick C. I just didn't know enough of the bus/DMA stuff which is why I asked for direction. > may be it help. Change first arguments of bus_dma_tag_create() calls > from NULL to bus_get_dma_tag(sc->dev). I'm willing to try anything else, but I've dumped the i386 partition (so I can only test in amd64 now). Thanks for the help, -- Rick C. There is just no volume control on that port. There is separate mixers for each pcm device. Other Digital ports may also don't have mixers. Booting with verbose messages enabled will give you all possible information about your audio hardware. -- Alexander Motin From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Jun 16 20:51:01 2009 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0E248106566B for ; Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:51:01 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd-multimedia@m.gmane.org) Received: from ciao.gmane.org (main.gmane.org [80.91.229.2]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id BD0608FC17 for ; Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:50:59 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd-multimedia@m.gmane.org) Received: from list by ciao.gmane.org with local (Exim 4.43) id 1MGfcP-0004RE-3C for freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org; Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:50:57 +0000 Received: from 200.41.broadband11.iol.cz ([90.178.41.200]) by main.gmane.org with esmtp (Gmexim 0.1 (Debian)) id 1AlnuQ-0007hv-00 for ; Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:50:57 +0000 Received: from gamato by 200.41.broadband11.iol.cz with local (Gmexim 0.1 (Debian)) id 1AlnuQ-0007hv-00 for ; Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:50:57 +0000 X-Injected-Via-Gmane: http://gmane.org/ To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org From: martinko Date: Tue, 16 Jun 2009 22:50:42 +0200 Lines: 1370 Message-ID: <4A3805A2.7080403@users.sf.net> References: <1245111790.00127709.1245100204@10.7.7.3> <4A3790EC.8060701@FreeBSD.org> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-2; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Complaints-To: usenet@ger.gmane.org X-Gmane-NNTP-Posting-Host: 200.41.broadband11.iol.cz User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; FreeBSD i386; en-US; rv:1.8.1.18) Gecko/20081125 SeaMonkey/1.1.13 In-Reply-To: <4A3790EC.8060701@FreeBSD.org> Sender: news Subject: Re: snd_hda: ALC888/1200 and mixer empty X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 16 Jun 2009 20:51:01 -0000 Alexander, Alexander Motin wrote: > martinko wrote: >> I've got issues with snd_hda(4) driver. But only analog (pcm1 and pcm2) have mixers. This is problem with applications that complain they cannot find mixer. What can I do about it ? And more general -- I know FreeBSD have virtual channels and thus it can mix various sources and even convert sample rates. But can it control volume of channels, both virtual and real/hw ? I sort of understand that now digital output provides no volume control and I can easily manage that with my amplifier. But in Windows I _can_ control volume even when I use digital output. Well, all I want is my audio applications would work and even better if I could control (master) volume on digital device/output. So far I've managed just to send something directly to /dev/dsp but applications don't like missing mixers. (I'll try more apps, though, just to be sure.) > Booting with verbose messages enabled will give you all possible > information about your audio hardware. I did some tests with your port, and unfortunately it doesn't build anymore. Then I'm here to ask you if I can set your port to expire or if you have a better solution I'd like to know. Anyway, I guess it might be useful for (some) users to have a tunable to enable/disable mixer (sw volume control) on digital interface. And/or mixer (sw volume control) on digital interface might just pretend it's there but internally it wouldn't touch the stream, thus AC3 would work. Well, maybe you already implemented this or sth better for 8-CURRENT. I am using FreeBSD-CURRENT, so YMMV. In my /boot/loader.conf file I currently have this: snd_hda_load="YES" hw.snd.default_unit=1 hint.hdac.0.config="gpio2" hint.hdac.0.cad2.nid13.config="device=Speaker conn=Fixed" I suspect the third and fourth lines are unnecessary, and that it is the second line that truly makes it work. Anyway, try it and see.
