It would not solve problems with the passive cooling (at least not by itself), but might provide you with meaningful temperature readout. Unfortunately, I have no idea what condition BIOS writer was checking to decide whether to give you results of reading of some sensors or just 40C flat out (0x0C3C), so you might trade your condition for some random value having no bearing on the reality. Given the fact that that code path converts value to the tenths of Kelvin twice, I would not be overly hopeful. =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D --- lioux-asus_m2n32_sli_deluxe_wireless_edition_bios_2209.asl~ 2010-05-02 21:48:30.000000000 -0400 +++ lioux-asus_m2n32_sli_deluxe_wireless_edition_bios_2209.asl 2010-05-02 22:03:12.880835765 -0400 @@ -171,7 +171,7 @@ * Compiler ID "MSFT" * Compiler Version 0x03000000 (50331648) */ -DefinitionBlock ("/tmp/acpidump.aml", "DSDT", 1, "NVIDIA", "AWRDACPI", 0x00001000) +DefinitionBlock ("./acpidump.aml", "DSDT", 1, "NVIDIA", "AWRDACPI", 0x00001000) { External (\_PR_.CPU0) =20 @@ -9091,6 +9091,7 @@ Add (0x0AAC, Local0, Local0) } =20 +/* If (LEqual (SSHU, 0x01)) { Return (0x0C3C) @@ -9099,6 +9100,8 @@ { Return (Local0) } + */ + Return(Local0) } =20 Method (SBYT, 2, NotSerialized) @@ -9219,7 +9222,8 @@ And (SENF, 0x01, Local6) If (LEqual (Local6, 0x01)) { - Return (KELA (RTMP ())) +// Return (KELA (RTMP ())) + Return (RTMP ()) } Else { =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D --=20 Alexandre Kovalenko (=D0=9E=D0=BB=D0=B5=D0=BA=D1=81=D0=B0=D0=BD=D0=B4=D1=80= =D0=9A=D0=BE=D0=B2=D0=B0=D0=BB=D0=B5=D0=BD=D0=BA=D0=BE) -------------------------------------------------------------- Ovi Mail: Being used in over 200 countries http://mail.ovi.com From owner-freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.ORG Mon May 3 11:07:58 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [69.147.83.52]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C1E51106566B for ; Mon, 3 May 2010 11:07:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [69.147.83.40]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 935778FC17 for ; Mon, 3 May 2010 11:07:58 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o43B7wsS033508 for ; Mon, 3 May 2010 11:07:58 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o43B7val033506 for freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 3 May 2010 11:07:57 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 3 May 2010 11:07:57 GMT Message-Id: <201005031107.o43B7val033506@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: gnats set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Current problem reports assigned to freebsd-acpi@FreeBSD.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-acpi@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: ACPI and power management development List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 03 May 2010 11:07:58 -0000 Note: to view an individual PR, use: http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=(number). However when i try and shut it down with 'shutdown -p now' = it yields different results. Sometimes it shuts down, sometimes claims = to shutdown but reboots, sometimes claims to reboot and reboots. I have tried under both FreeNas (BSD 7.2) and FreeBSD 8.0, with = different bios settings and all non-essential hardware unplugged. The = only option seems to be default bios settings, then it *usually* works. = But, with much needed Wake On Lan enabled I cant turn my puter off :-( My goal is a FreeNas that i can turn on and off from remote. I followed a workaround for some Intel mobo, disabling USB. It works = first run, then stops working, much like when i enable WOL, first run = works, the following not. Wake On Lan and power down works under Ubuntu 9.10. I'd be happy for any = pointers, and would of course assist in debugging if it is within my = realms of knowledge. The network cards also don't work in linux-ubuntu9.?(04 or 10 I can't remember) with this machine. I also noticed when attempting to recompile the kernel with all the ath_* options switched on that there are conflicting structure definitions with the ath_rate_* devices - but perhaps this is intentional, I don't know. Which is as far as I got as my install cd turned to cactus as I attempted to reinstall with a larger root partition, to fit the compiled kernel. When I reinstall I can supply further information as required Thankyou -- View this message in context: http://old.nabble.com/Problem-network-devices-Acer-Extensa-5635G-tp28219409p28494831.html Sent from the freebsd-acpi mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
