Mute, Sound down, Sound up When I press mute nothing appears to happen. When I press sound up or down, my system mutes the pcm but moves the muted Mic sound up and down, instead of the speaker sound. If I unmute the Mic, then when I press sound up or down, my system doesn't mute the pcm but will not go below 95:95 no matter how many times I push sound down. Expected ========= mute to mute. Sound up and sound down to work >How-To-Repeat: Install FreeBSD. Doing that results in a / partition of 512MB, although the entire disk is 500GB. This is enough for installing the base system. However, building and installing a custom kernel (a smaller one than GENERIC, fwiw) already overfills the / partition, causing the kernel installation to exit with an error. I'd recommend to increase the default size of / to 1GB if the total size of the disk permits this. On my box, the current kernel, the old kernel, a good copy of the current kernel, and whatever sysinstall else puts into / take up approx. 775MB. >How-To-Repeat: Boot from an amd64 netinstall CD. Begin a standard installation. Use fdisk to allocate the entire HDD to FreeBSD. Enter disklabel and use the Auto Defaults option to automatically size the partitions. >Fix: It is easy to work around by manually sizing the partitions. Still, it might be a better idea to teach disklabel to use more appropriate defaults. >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Nov 12 23:17:26 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5C8941065672; Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:17:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from brucec@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 310B88FC16; Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:17:26 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id oACNHQCb038141; Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:17:26 GMT (envelope-from brucec@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from brucec@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id oACNHQ6P038137; Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:17:26 GMT (envelope-from brucec) Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:17:26 GMT Message-Id: <201011122317.oACNHQ6P038137@freefall.freebsd.org> To: markus.hoenicka@mhoenicka.de, brucec@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org, brucec@FreeBSD.org From: brucec@FreeBSD.org X-Mailman-Approved-At: Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:26:48 +0000 Cc: Subject: Re: amd64/152179: disklabel's Auto Defaults creates too small / partition on amd64 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 12 Nov 2010 23:17:26 -0000 Synopsis: disklabel's Auto Defaults creates too small / partition on amd64 State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: brucec State-Changed-When: Fri Nov 12 23:16:03 UTC 2010 State-Changed-Why: Already fixed in HEAD, stable/8 and stable/7 - the next releases of 7.x and 8.x will have a root partition of 1GB.
