If a specfile entry exists in the underlying file system, its per- missions and modification time will be used unless specifically overridden by the specfile. An error will be raised if the type of entry in the specfile conflicts with that of an existing entry. In the opposite case (where a specfile entry does not have an entry in the underlying file system) the following occurs: If the spec- file entry is marked optional, the specfile entry is ignored. Oth- erwise, the entry will be created in the image, and it is necessary to specify at least the following parameters in the specfile: type, mode, gname or gid, and uname or uid, device (in the case of block ^^^^^^ or character devices), and link (in the case of symbolic links). If time isn't provided, the current time will be used. If flags isn't provided, the current file flags will be used. Missing regu- lar file entries will be created as zero-length files. This patch removes that reference. >How-To-Repeat: n/a >Fix: See patch. This line should likely be changed to CFLAGS+= -fno-strict-aliasing but I do not understand the need for that chunk in general - if strict-aliasing breaks some ports, why is it not set in these ports? We [should] provide ports that build correctly with default settings, and we don't need to have users set something in make.conf to unbreak anything, so that confusing piece should likely be removed. Probably, changed to something more practical, like # You can specify additional compiler flags that extend or override # default ones. However, neither base systems nor ports are guaranteed # to build and work without problems with non-default settings. # #CFLAGS+= -msse3 #CXXFLAGS+= -msse3 >Description: >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Mar 5 20:50:02 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2C09A1065673 for ; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:50:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E39978FC15 for ; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:50:01 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o25Ko1cO074718 for ; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:50:01 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id o25Ko1ZV074717; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:50:01 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:50:01 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <201003052050.o25Ko1ZV074717@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Bruce Cran Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DC85E106566C for ; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:42:35 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::21]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B13708FC22 for ; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:42:35 +0000 (UTC) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o25KgZHt032168 for ; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:42:35 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id o25KgZwG032166; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:42:35 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <201003052042.o25KgZwG032166@www.freebsd.org> Date: Fri, 5 Mar 2010 20:42:35 GMT From: Bruce Cran To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-3.1 Cc: Subject: docs/144498: boot(8) should reference uart(4) instead of sio(4) X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 05 Mar 2010 20:50:02 -0000 >Number: 144498 >Category: docs >Synopsis: boot(8) should reference uart(4) instead of sio(4) >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-doc >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: doc-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Fri Mar 05 20:50:01 UTC 2010 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Bruce Cran >Release: 9.0-CURRENT >Organization: >Environment: >Description: boot(8) refers to sio(4); since uart(4) is now the default serial driver, the manual page should be updated. >How-To-Repeat: man 8 boot >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Mar 6 01:00:44 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: doc@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E06441065719 for ; Sat, 6 Mar 2010 01:00:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from wblock@wonkity.com) Received: from wonkity.com (wonkity.com [67.158.26.137]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 70BD58FC16 for ; Sat, 6 Mar 2010 01:00:44 +0000 (UTC) Received: from wonkity.com (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by wonkity.com (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o2610NVa002843; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 18:00:23 -0700 (MST) (envelope-from wblock@wonkity.com) Received: from localhost (wblock@localhost) by wonkity.com (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) with ESMTP id o2610NJ8002840; Fri, 5 Mar 2010 18:00:23 -0700 (MST) (envelope-from wblock@wonkity.com) Date: Fri, 5 Mar 2010 18:00:23 -0700 (MST) From: Warren Block To: Wayne Sierke In-Reply-To: <1265897908.2840.250.camel@predator-ii.buffyverse> Message-ID: References: <1265897908.2840.250.camel@predator-ii.buffyverse> User-Agent: Alpine 2.00 (BSF 1167 2008-08-23) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: MULTIPART/MIXED; BOUNDARY="-902635197-1958033005-1267837223=:2481" X-Greylist: Sender IP whitelisted, not delayed by milter-greylist-4.2.3 (wonkity.com [127.0.0.1]); Fri, 05 Mar 2010 18:00:23 -0700 (MST) Cc: doc@freebsd.org Subject: Re: cu: ACU? Setting up a UUCP connection > http://docs.freebsd.org/44doc/smm/01.setup/paper-4.html Here are a couple of tiny patches to make this more explicit in the the cu(1) and remote(5) man pages. There really should be an example of using cu with the acu setting to dial a Hayes-compatible modem in the cu man page, but so far I haven't managed to make that work. Feedback and examples welcome. Once this is more complete, I'll submit a PR.
