My buddy helped me, he adviced to type "make config" before "make" And it helped me to recheck options. You can insert to your article part about make config for others, who would use this handbook to explore freebsd. -- Hope this will help someone. I don't think this is necessary. At the very beginning you have: *quote* The detailed description of available make targets and environment variables is available in ports(7). *end quote* That should be enough for most users. -- Anton Shterenlikht Room 2.6, Queen's Building Mech Eng Dept Bristol University University Walk, Bristol BS8 1TR, UK Tel: +44 (0)117 331 5944 Fax: +44 (0)117 929 4423 From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Jun 7 11:06:07 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 94825106566B for ; Mon, 7 Jun 2010 11:06:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (unknown [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 82FD88FC15 for ; Mon, 7 Jun 2010 11:06:07 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o57B671M007950 for ; Mon, 7 Jun 2010 11:06:07 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o57B66Gq007948 for freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 7 Jun 2010 11:06:06 GMT (envelope-from owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org) Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2010 11:06:06 GMT Message-Id: <201006071106.o57B66Gq007948@freefall.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: freefall.freebsd.org: gnats set sender to owner-bugmaster@FreeBSD.org using -f From: FreeBSD bugmaster To: FreeBSD doc list Cc: Subject: Current unassigned doc problem reports X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 07 Jun 2010 11:06:07 -0000 (Note: an HTML version of this report is available at http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr-summary.cgi?category=doc .) And of course the documentation is the best. And I've contributed to a few forums.freebsd.org postings, as johnedstone. This is the first time that I've run across this kind of thing. At this link, http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/articles/nanobsd/howto.html which I was reading because of the recent article in bsdmag.org, I ran across this variable echo "bar=topless" There is no point in this. I am a 57 year old male. I have daughters. I would recommend FreeBSD to any of them, if and when they have the interest. But, this is pointless, this kind of variable - it appeals to the lowest denominator. I could go on and on, but you don't need me to. Either you will understand, or you will write me off as old-fashion. But, I hope you understand. Let's continue to take the high road in FreeBSD, and clean this sort of thing up, whenever we find it. Thank you for 'listening'. Please let me know if you do change this. Ed Johnstone.
