It is correctly recognized and configured. I have an ath0 device and I can create an wlan0 without problems. I can even scan with wlan0 and sometimes I see my wireless router. The problem is when wpa_supplicant tries to register with the network that it fails. BTW, I have a WEP system with long key (13 hex digits). I have sniffed the wireless network with another computer and the packets seem to be all correct: the Eee PC sends correct packets to the air, and the wifi router replies them correctly, but wpa_supplicant reports "registration timed out", as if it wasn't receiving the packets. It is nevertheless very strange because around 2-3 weeks ago I had the STABLE branch installed on the same Eee PC and the wifi worked (not always, but it succedeed always when it was near the router and the PC was just being rebooted). I have compiled my kernel with AH_DEBUG and ATH_DEBUG so I can also send dmesg traces if anyone can analyze them. >How-To-Repeat: >Fix: >Release-Note: >Audit-Trail: >Unformatted: From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jun 26 02:40:07 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D40011065670 for ; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:40:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 965B18FC13 for ; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:40:07 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id o5Q2e7jt075301 for ; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:40:07 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id o5Q2e7sL075292; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:40:07 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:40:07 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <201006260240.o5Q2e7sL075292@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Rodrigo Mosconi Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0FD98106566B for ; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:39:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nobody@FreeBSD.org) Received: from www.freebsd.org (www.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::21]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F11128FC08 for ; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:39:57 +0000 (UTC) Received: from www.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by www.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o5Q2dvVk008285 for ; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:39:57 GMT (envelope-from nobody@www.freebsd.org) Received: (from nobody@localhost) by www.freebsd.org (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id o5Q2dv3B008284; Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:39:57 GMT (envelope-from nobody) Message-Id: <201006260239.o5Q2dv3B008284@www.freebsd.org> Date: Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:39:57 GMT From: Rodrigo Mosconi To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: www-3.1 Cc: Subject: i386/148155: Kernel panic with PF/IPFilter + VIMAGE kernel option X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 26 Jun 2010 02:40:08 -0000 >Number: 148155 >Category: i386 >Synopsis: Kernel panic with PF/IPFilter + VIMAGE kernel option >Confidential: no >Severity: critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-i386 >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: sw-bug >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Sat Jun 26 02:40:07 UTC 2010 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Rodrigo Mosconi >Release: 8.1-RC1 >Organization: >Environment: FreeBSD Tales 8.1-RC1 FreeBSD 8.1-RC1 #0: Wed Jun 23 22:43:37 BRT 2010 root@Tales:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/VIMAGE i386 >Description: Enabling the PF or the IP Filter in a VIMAGE kernel, generates a page fault in kernel mode.
