Today I downloaded FreeBSD 8/amd64 and tried installing the pvr250 port. It didn't compile, same reason as: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=9852 The first error is in cxm_open; the code there is unit = UNIT( minor(dev) ); where unit is an int, and UNIT is defined as #define UNIT(x) ((x) & 0x0f) but that's not the reason, since I get the same error when I just remove the UNIT(...) and leave unit = minor(dev); There's also the question of how the patch-iic target should be handled on FreeBSD>6 (see forum page cited above). Suggested patches? I can't help you with the other problems, but AFAICT, you don't need patch-iicbb On FreeBSD 7.2-stable and newer. I base this on my testing with the pvrxxx port done with FreeBSD 7.2-stable on 2010-01-01. From my notes: 2010-01-01: slice 3 - I am installing usleep's pvrxxx port (the 09042008 version). when I cd /usr/ports/multimedia/pvrxxx; make patch-iicbb, I get this: root@kg-fil# pwd /usr/ports/multimedia/pvrxxx root@kg-fil# make patch-iicbb echo 702106 702106 /usr/src/sys/dev/iicbus/iicbb.c was already patched Ok, so that means that the GENERIC kernel is ready for the cxm driver. Note: since I have not been able to compile and test the pvrxxx driver under FreeBSD 8, this is just a theory for now. Hi, I stumbled across this problem some time ago in pvrxxx. I guess the fix should also work for pvr250: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2008-September/088697.html It's probably not the cleanest solution, but pvrxxx works here on 8.0. -- Stefan From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Fri May 14 17:20:20 2010 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CCFCC1065670 for ; Fri, 14 May 2010 17:20:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nox@jelal.kn-bremen.de) Received: from smtp.kn-bremen.de (gelbbaer.kn-bremen.de [78.46.108.116]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4C3788FC1F for ; Fri, 14 May 2010 17:20:20 +0000 (UTC) Received: by smtp.kn-bremen.de (Postfix, from userid 10) id 442501E000D8; Fri, 14 May 2010 19:20:19 +0200 (CEST) Received: from triton8.kn-bremen.de (noident@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by triton8.kn-bremen.de (8.14.3/8.14.3) with ESMTP id o4EHBoOw051444; Fri, 14 May 2010 19:11:50 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from nox@triton8.kn-bremen.de) Received: (from nox@localhost) by triton8.kn-bremen.de (8.14.3/8.14.3/Submit) id o4EHBoEW051443; Fri, 14 May 2010 19:11:50 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from nox) From: Juergen Lock Date: Fri, 14 May 2010 19:11:50 +0200 To: Juergen Lock Message-ID: <20100514171150.GA51257@triton8.kn-bremen.de> References: <20100502190207.GA96276@triton8.kn-bremen.de> <20100504203248.GA8212@triton8.kn-bremen.de> <20100506201305.GA23951@triton8.kn-bremen.de> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <20100506201305.GA23951@triton8.kn-bremen.de> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.20 (2009-06-14) Cc: freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: for those that want to try vdr on FreeBSD... New version that takes care of OSTYPE being now defined (which caused the FreeBSD host detection in jpulz' patches to fail and the vdr and plugin port builds to abort), and that adds a missing www/p5-libwww dependency in the vdradmin-am port.
