You can use obexapp from ports for file exchange, rfcomm_sppd from base for serial port services (its just a channel, requires additional setup eg of PPP), and btpand from base for personal area networking (some networking knowhow needed) iain From owner-freebsd-bluetooth@FreeBSD.ORG Tue Feb 22 10:13:02 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4D30D10656A4 for ; Tue, 22 Feb 2011 10:13:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from c.kworr@gmail.com) Received: from mail-ww0-f42.google.com (mail-ww0-f42.google.com [74.125.82.42]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D052E8FC27 for ; Tue, 22 Feb 2011 10:13:01 +0000 (UTC) Received: by wwi17 with SMTP id 17so3923238wwi.1 for ; Tue, 22 Feb 2011 02:13:00 -0800 (PST) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=domainkey-signature:message-id:date:from:user-agent:mime-version:to :cc:subject:references:in-reply-to:content-type :content-transfer-encoding; bh=sjYpO6mF4ogf1zQpy0oam0TMvlvKvf6/y53lqkBVFY4=; b=lu4KLwCHsKx76RYpdAu9l8Dxbxmo/Jmt04IZSkVHXemiTHYSMXaCCBPiMYqgc1I9Tm 2PQYBoLOc/6j89FQFnexCtJm9tY7th8vtVjAs9EcynmOiqWR17HOesrg16vZD/tXujur cgWdbhZe8BuUSgbKiQGmf3dL5X83AVysph4mQ= DomainKey-Signature: a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; d=gmail.com; s=gamma; h=message-id:date:from:user-agent:mime-version:to:cc:subject :references:in-reply-to:content-type:content-transfer-encoding; b=KiNBceVofuY7WACJOw91LRlomS9DlBx3vU6fh8F218vz6y3L7jOBb2Pz7Nw1aBo4od Bm7UkbrFFTwV0YzyV44c7i56mVB9e+ZgPYCN3FTb9FdjC97iwQFF5ljaWQ0y4VNQ07nF Hf7o6jOFNHDebYKCrKXb8yKkHThwSeqDJY3RI= Received: by 10.227.157.17 with SMTP id z17mr2210411wbw.54.1298367973363; Tue, 22 Feb 2011 01:46:13 -0800 (PST) Received: from [172.31.0.1] (109-167-54-26.dynamic.peoplenet.ua [109.167.54.26]) by mx.google.com with ESMTPS id s50sm2504152weh.46.2011.02.22.01.46.10 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=OTHER); Tue, 22 Feb 2011 01:46:11 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: <4D6385E5.4030807@gmail.com> Date: Tue, 22 Feb 2011 11:46:13 +0200 From: =?UTF-8?B?0JLQvtC70L7QtNC40LzQuNGAINCa0L7RgdGC0LjRgNC60L4=?= User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; uk; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101207 Thunderbird/3.1.7 MIME-Version: 1.0 To: Iain Hibbert References: In-Reply-To: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Cc: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org Subject: Re: ES 388 (Broadcom based) X-BeenThere: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Using Bluetooth in FreeBSD environments List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Tue, 22 Feb 2011 10:13:02 -0000 22.02.2011 11:26, Iain Hibbert wrote: > On Tue, 22 Feb 2011, Volodymyr Kostyrko wrote: > >> And it almost works. Hm, clearly there is a service there.. but perhaps the phone you are trying does not know about NAP (phones generally provide NAP and/or DUN, most will not be able to use it), how are you checking for services? - did you enable pscan? BCM2046B1 USB 2.0 Hub (part of BCM2046 Bluetooth) i _think_ that device that freebsd sees as ugen(4) is the "ID 0a5c:4500" device. notice that "missing devices" are on the same usb bus (bus 002) with the increasing id's. i guess this means that "missing devices" are behind the hub. we already know that interface class is reported by the device as "hub". what i'd like to know is what device class is set to. freebsd uhub(4) driver uses device class to identify device as usb hub. obviously, if freebsd does not recognize device as usb hub it is not going to "explore" and find all the devices that might be attached to the usb hub. quick look at linux's usb hub driver suggest that linux might be using interface class to identify device as usb hub. to test the theory, quick hack would be to change uhub_probe() in /sys/dev/usb/usb_hub.c and forcefully make uhub(4) attach to device/vendor id 0a5c:4500. thanks, max From owner-freebsd-bluetooth@FreeBSD.ORG Thu Feb 24 09:13:52 2011 I'll try to retest it. actually, I'm wrong - this is because the request is for a 'protocol UUID' and the FreeBSD sdpd does only check for a single 'service UUID' per service provider.. I did fix that on NetBSD and the code for 5.1 does have it but I see that the SDP protocol UUID is not contained in the "Service Discovery Server" record anyway.. The NetBSD-current code is completely different though and that would work, eg: galant: {1} sdpquery -l search sdp ServiceRecordHandle: 0x00000000 ServiceClassIDList: Service Discovery Server ProtocolDescriptorList: L2CAP (PSM 0x0001) SDP BrowseGroupList: Public Browse Root LanguageBaseAttributeIDList: en.UTF-8 base 0x0100 ServiceName: "Bluetooth service discovery" ProviderName: "NetBSD" VersionNumberList: v1.0 I doubt, however, that this lack is significant.. > > and NAP, which we do tell them all about > > Strange. Its not clear but I think you have to set up a new 'data account' on the phone to get it to connect using an alternative method than GPRS.. I did manage something like this with my windows mobile phone one time, set up a new 'Bluetooth modem' on the phone for the internet service, then configured DUN on the host using rfcomm_sppd, a fake modem script and pppd (script for NetBSD attached). Not sure if that will work in this case though, since the phone does not search for DUN. It might work for LAN which is basically PPP over serial (I think no fake modem required) though the FreeBSD specifics will be slightly different.. The LAN probe could be unrelated though, as it also looks for WAP which is basically sitting atop the LAN profile (I think WAP is an IP based service, it was specified in the early Bluetooth Core documents) iain --0-1057573220-1298620856=:973 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII; NAME=dun Content-Transfer-Encoding: BASE64 Content-ID: Content-Description: provide DUN service Content-Disposition: ATTACHMENT; FILENAME=dun IyEvYmluL3NoDQoNCiMNCg0KUFRZPS9kZXYvdHR5czMNCkxJTktOQU1FPURV Tg0KQUREUj0xOTIuMTY4LjMuMToxOTIuMTY4LjMuMg0KRE5TMT0xOTMuMzYu NzkuMTAwDQpETlMyPTE5My4zNi43OS4xMDENCg0KIw0KIyBwcm92aWRlIEJs dWV0b290aCBEVU4gcHJvZmlsZS4gQmFzaWNhbGx5LCB3ZSB3YWl0IGZvciB0 aGUNCiMgUkZDT01NIGNvbm5lY3Rpb24gb24gdGhlIFBUWSwgdGhlbiBlbXVs YXRlIGEgSGF5ZXMgY29tcGF0aWJsZQ0KIyBtb2RlbSBieSByZXNwb25kaW5n IE9LIHRvIGFueSBBVCBjb21tYW5kIGV4Y2VwdCBBVEQgd2hlcmUgd2UNCiMg cHJvdmlkZSBhIENPTk5FQ1QgcmVzcG9uc2UsIGFuZCBjaGFubmVsIHBwcGQg b24gdGhlIGxpbmsuDQojDQojIHNldCB1cCAvZXRjL2lwbmF0LmNvbmYNCiMg L2V0Yy9yYy5kL2lwbmF0IGZvcmNlc3RhcnQNCiMNCg0KZGVidWcoKQ0Kew0K ICAgIGxvZ2dlciAtcCBkYWVtb24uZGVidWcgLXQgZHVuICIkKiINCn0NCg0K c2VuZCgpDQp7DQogICAgZGVidWcgIjwgJCoiDQogICAgcHJpbnRmICIkKlxy XG4iDQp9DQoNCm1vZGVtKCkNCnsNCiAgICB3aGlsZQ0KCXJlYWQgY21kDQog ICAgZG8NCglkZWJ1ZyAiPiAkY21kIg0KCWNhc2UgJGNtZCBpbg0KCVthQV1b dFRdW2REXSopDQoJICAgIHNlbmQgIkNPTk5FQ1QiDQoJICAgIHJldHVybiAw DQoJICAgIDs7DQoJW2FBXVt0VF0qfCIiKQ0KCSAgICBzZW5kICJPSyINCgkg ICAgOzsNCgkqKQ0KCSAgICBzZW5kICJFUlJPUiINCgkgICAgOzsNCgllc2Fj DQogICAgZG9uZQ0KICAgIHJldHVybiAxDQp9DQoNCmR1bigpDQp7DQogICAg ZGVidWcgIlN0YXJ0aW5nIE1PREVNIg0KICAgIG1vZGVtIHx8IHJldHVybiAx DQogICAgZGVidWcgIlN0YXJ0aW5nIFBQUCINCiAgICAjIFRPRE8gLSBjYW4g cmVtb3ZlIHN1ZG8gaGVyZT8NCiAgICBzdWRvIHBwcGQgJHtBRERSfSBub2Rl dGFjaCBub2NydHNjdHMgbm9kZWZhdWx0cm91dGUgbm9hdXRoIGxpbmtuYW1l ICR7TElOS05BTUV9IG1zLWRucyAke0ROUzF9IG1zLWRucyAke0ROUzJ9DQp9 DQoNCmlmIFsgJChzeXNjdGwgLW4gbmV0LmluZXQuaXAuZm9yd2FyZGluZykg LWVxIDAgXTsgdGhlbg0KICAgIGVjaG8gIldBUk5JTkc6IG5ldC5pbmV0Lmlw LmZvcndhcmRpbmcgaXMgb2ZmIg0KICAgIGV4aXQgMA0KZmkNCg0Kd2hpbGUN CiAgICByZmNvbW1fc3BwZCAtbSBhdXRoIC1zIERVTiAtdCAke1BUWX0NCmRv DQogICAgZHVuIDE8PiR7UFRZfSAwPCYxDQpkb25lDQoNCmRlYnVnICJFeGl0 aW5nLi4uIg0K --0-1057573220-1298620856=:973-- From owner-freebsd-bluetooth@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Feb 25 08:20:49 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 98A64106566C for ; Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from plunky@rya-online.net) Received: from mail.ukfsn.org (mail.ukfsn.org [77.75.108.10]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 563D18FC19 for ; Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:49 +0000 (UTC) Received: from localhost (smtp-filter.ukfsn.org [192.168.54.205]) by mail.ukfsn.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7D562DEBEA; Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:48 +0000 (GMT) Received: from mail.ukfsn.org ([192.168.54.25]) by localhost (smtp-filter.ukfsn.org [192.168.54.205]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id GCy8MqL7X-Aw; Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:48 +0000 (GMT) Received: from galant.ukfsn.org (unknown [95.149.42.205]) by mail.ukfsn.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 42899DEBBD; Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:48 +0000 (GMT) Received: by galant.ukfsn.org (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 5922C260266; Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:52 +0000 (GMT) Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:52 +0000 (GMT) From: Iain Hibbert To: Iain Hibbert In-Reply-To: Message-ID: References: <4D6385E5.4030807@gmail.com> <4D653192.4070401@gmail.com> <4D662147.9050101@gmail.com> <4D662B9F.6000903@gmail.com> User-Agent: Alpine 2.00 (NEB 1167 2008-08-23) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII Cc: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org, c.kworr@gmail.com Subject: Re: ES 388 (Broadcom based) X-BeenThere: freebsd-bluetooth@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Using Bluetooth in FreeBSD environments List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 25 Feb 2011 08:20:49 -0000 On Fri, 25 Feb 2011, Iain Hibbert wrote: > > btpand(8) is your best bet. > > google isn't much help here either since the results are overloaded with > spam for phone models. The phone never indicates anything about network connections in bluetooth device properties, but when I recheck available data profiles in device vicinity I found new connection entry in ready-to-use state. I just selected this profile as my primary internet profile and: ifconfig tap0 create btpand -d ubt0hci -i tap0 -s NAP tcpdump -pni tap0 And I can see DHCP requests from phone! -- Sphinx of black quartz judge my vow.
