The release schedule should be such that at any given time, one should be able to install an X.Y release, with Y >= 2, that is not more than one major revision behind the latest development work and will be fully supported with security patches for 30 months or more. Administrators need this, and the fact that FreeBSD is not providing it is causing some to switch and others to become seriously unhappy. --Brett Glass From owner-freebsd-chat@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Dec 4 21:31:52 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D4ED0106566B for ; Sun, 4 Dec 2011 21:31:51 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd@psconsult.nl) Received: from mx1.psconsult.nl (mx1.iaf.psconsult.nl [80.89.238.138]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 53F238FC0A for ; Sun, 4 Dec 2011 21:31:50 +0000 (UTC) Received: from mx1.psconsult.nl (mx1.iaf.psconsult.nl [80.89.238.138]) by mx1.psconsult.nl (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id pB4LI1Lb027815 (version=TLSv1/SSLv3 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA bits=256 verify=NO) for ; Sun, 4 Dec 2011 22:18:06 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from freebsd@psconsult.nl) Received: (from paul@localhost) by mx1.psconsult.nl (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id pB4LI1hj027814 for freebsd-chat@freebsd.org; Sun, 4 Dec 2011 22:18:01 +0100 (CET) (envelope-from freebsd@psconsult.nl) X-Authentication-Warning: mx1.psconsult.nl: paul set sender to freebsd@psconsult.nl using -f Date: Sun, 4 Dec 2011 22:18:01 +0100 From: Paul Schenkeveld To: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org Message-ID: <20111204211801.GA17485@psconsult.nl> References: <201112042040.NAA07229@lariat.net> MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: <201112042040.NAA07229@lariat.net> User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.21 (2010-09-15) Subject: Re: Superstitious users and the FreeBSD logo X-BeenThere: freebsd-chat@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Non technical items related to the community List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 04 Dec 2011 21:31:52 -0000 On Sun, Dec 04, 2011 at 01:40:19PM -0700, Brett Glass wrote: > ROFL!
