The man page should make it clear that one needs to recompile the kernel with that option or these sysctls should be made availabe without "options USB_DEBUG". Probably the easiest way would be to update the man page and also mention that the sysctl hw.usb.ehci.lostintrbug is highly probable to solve problems with slow devices or ones that get stalled regularly. I have a comment on this page. I think the below feature (not exact text) should be included in the release note as IPv6 network is getting popular. I owe you an apology if the above URL is not the latest 9.0 release notes and the latest one has already included the below content. --------------------------------- MFC r200871: Use ALLOW_NEW_SOURCES and BLOCK_OLD_SOURCES to signal a join or leave with SSM MLDv2 by default. This is current practice and complies with RFC 4604, as well as being required by production IPv6 networks in Japan. The behaviour may be disabled by setting the net.inet6.mld.use_allow sysctl/tunable to 0. ------------------------------------- The above text are excerpted from "Revision 1.57.2.3" in http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/src/sys/netinet6/mld6.c Best regards, Hideki Yamamoto From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Dec 30 18:30:21 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C78D71065675 for ; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:30:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gnats@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8A2778FC15 for ; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:30:21 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id pBUIULo3003396 for ; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:30:21 GMT (envelope-from gnats@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from gnats@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id pBUIULMr003393; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:30:21 GMT (envelope-from gnats) Resent-Date: Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:30:21 GMT Resent-Message-Id: <201112301830.pBUIULMr003393@freefall.freebsd.org> Resent-From: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org (GNATS Filer) Resent-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Resent-Reply-To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, Jason Helfman Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 937ED106566C; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:25:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from jgh@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 828F88FC12; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:25:13 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5) with ESMTP id pBUIPDpF002905; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:25:13 GMT (envelope-from jgh@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from jgh@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.5/8.14.5/Submit) id pBUIPDgc002904; Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:25:13 GMT (envelope-from jgh) Message-Id: <201112301825.pBUIPDgc002904@freefall.freebsd.org> Date: Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:25:13 GMT From: Jason Helfman To: FreeBSD-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org X-Send-Pr-Version: 3.113 Cc: crees@FreeBSD.org Subject: docs/163723: [patch] books/porters-handbook: add note regarding breakage of README.html X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Jason Helfman List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Fri, 30 Dec 2011 18:30:21 -0000 >Number: 163723 >Category: docs >Synopsis: [patch] books/porters-handbook: add note regarding breakage of README.html >Confidential: no >Severity: non-critical >Priority: low >Responsible: freebsd-doc >State: open >Quarter: >Keywords: >Date-Required: >Class: change-request >Submitter-Id: current-users >Arrival-Date: Fri Dec 30 18:30:21 UTC 2011 >Closed-Date: >Last-Modified: >Originator: Jason Helfman >Release: FreeBSD 8.2-STABLE i386 >Organization: >Environment: >Description: reassignment of ECHO_MSG breaks 'make readme'.
