Kernel panic problems would pop at random occurences (probably stress induced, and the common point in each one of these was that one processor was handling an interrupt for mpt0), sometimes every 10 minutes, sometimes every hour(s). So, I put back another controller : mvs0: port 0x3000-0x30ff mem 0xdf200000-0xdf2fffff irq 24 at device 1.0 on pci7 mvs0: Gen-II, 8 3Gbps ports, Port Multiplier supported mvs0: [ITHREAD] which did not exhibit this behavior. By the way, for reference, the controller I had been using is a PCI-X one, using a SAS-1068R chipset. Here is a picture of the controller in case anyone is familiar with it : http://www.darkbsd.org/~darksoul/fujitsu-siemens-lsi-sas1068.JPG This is a Fujitsu OEM board with a LSI chip, so I guess it *might* have some firmware quirks or something, making it unfit for FreeBSD. > P.S. -- In the future, try to avoid cross-posting. :-) Sorry about that. m(_ _)m --=20 Stephane LAPIE, EPITA SRS, Promo 2005 "Even when they have digital readouts, I can't understand them." --MegaTokyo --------------enig3F9D7F2C068C24B6B1419CB7 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk39vUcACgkQ24Ql8u6TF2PpegCeO3hV7KzgfcysHqC3Gy+ylVnJ OYEAnjfsaLRbdEFWEwOeEFNsNCXtp6wl =5KfE -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --------------enig3F9D7F2C068C24B6B1419CB7-- From owner-freebsd-hardware@FreeBSD.ORG Sun Jun 19 23:05:02 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EC55B106564A for ; Sun, 19 Jun 2011 23:05:02 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from m-zdgxzg46Tlb6bzUIQTgB_w46U0EpBnA7zT-48ro4VI2@bounce.linkedin.com) Received: from maile-bf.linkedin.com (maile-bf.linkedin.com [216.52.242.169]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C65198FC12 for ; Sun, 19 Jun 2011 23:05:02 +0000 (UTC) DomainKey-Signature: q=dns; a=rsa-sha1; c=nofws; s=prod; d=linkedin.com; h=DKIM-Signature:Sender:Date:From:To:Message-ID:Subject:MIME-Version:Content-Type:X-LinkedIn-Template:X-LinkedIn-Class:X-LinkedIn-fbl; b=Nli2hdcK4Wv9U/Ytrf0HMljIPTRi/y+1qUUcirLE6oPNMrz6ly7qKCPkRj6ppU3m QBDnNeR4EoyGxrprpS0KuuMLL96gUGxNxLNQ0WpvZaokkQ5qy3S1K5BKT9mWiHmx DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha1; d=linkedin.com; s=proddkim; c=relaxed/relaxed; q=dns/txt; i=@linkedin.com; t=1308524702; h=From:Subject:Date:To:MIME-Version:Content-Type; bh=fFl9Nl4gYZKZB19Nd45ycz8eBkw=; b=skMsPGlc0kJsB5tevSJGZHbHHRjdyb4GQ9EgAThBc4D30vYHAc3tu2wZwBBbWpJX qs+TSCxYXSxUA+6eU2OoG7ja/nYMvpg3h8ft0QBakoTHd/oqNoQ7g7O69LcRTkzb; Sender: messages-noreply@bounce.linkedin.com Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2011 23:05:02 +0000 (UTC) From: LinkedIn Today To: Chunlin Yao Message-ID: <246820580.14654100.1308524702355.JavaMail.app@ela4-app0103.prod> MIME-Version: 1.0 X-LinkedIn-Template: at_a_glance X-LinkedIn-Class: LIN-NEWS X-LinkedIn-fbl: m-zdgxzg46Tlb6bzUIQTgB_w46U0EpBnA7zT-48ro4VI2 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.5 Subject: Top Headlines in Computer Software X-BeenThere: freebsd-hardware@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: General discussion of FreeBSD hardware List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 19 Jun 2011 23:05:03 -0000 The week's most popular industry news: Computer Software -------------------- Computer Software "Big Content" Is Strangling American Innovation - blogs.hbr.org (34 shares) Business bloggers at Harvard Business Review discuss a variety of business topics including managing people, innovation, leadership, and more. http://www.linkedin.com/e/8y5tt7-gp4ltm6n-4v/nab/474818593/0Qdj0ScjkQdPkIe3cPdzkNe3wRb3AMc38Uc3wUdiMVdjAPc34Ue3kIcPARe34Ud3sQ/true/weekly/eml-tod-b-ttle-4/ Why Instagram Works - gigaom.com (27 shares) You might have seen me post about San Francisco-based Instagram way more than any of the newer mobile apps and services. The question is why Instagram works?
