I have looked up information from FreeBSD wiki and Mr Paulo's blog and learned about the past attempts at this project. I am aware of the work done on EFI support for FreeBSD/IA64 and the rEFIt project over recent years. However, most of the information I could get was in Year 2008. May I know whether it is possible that you could tell me the current status of the project? Thank you very much and sorry for any inconvenience caused. Controller is likely dead State-Changed-From-To: open->closed State-Changed-By: remko State-Changed-When: Wed Mar 30 05:34:39 UTC 2011 State-Changed-Why: I don't see the obvious reason why we should keep this open. The controller reports that it has problems at a certain datapoint, can you do an investigation on the controller to see what the problem is ? (In my world the reason that the error is given, is precomputed and thus with a reason ,so if the system reports this, then there is something wrong with the controller, the OS cannot be held responsible for that, right?). http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=155768 From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 30 05:35:42 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B089C1065678; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:35:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 855178FC15; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:35:42 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p2U5ZgB1085465; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:35:42 GMT (envelope-from remko@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from remko@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id p2U5ZgWa085461; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:35:42 GMT (envelope-from remko) Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:35:42 GMT Message-Id: <201103300535.p2U5ZgWa085461@freefall.freebsd.org> To: remko@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org, marcel@FreeBSD.org From: remko@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: i386/154132: [boot] Failure during boot w/ supermicro H8QGi X-BeenThere: freebsd-i386@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: I386-specific issues for FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:35:42 -0000 Synopsis: [boot] Failure during boot w/ supermicro H8QGi Responsible-Changed-From-To: freebsd-i386->marcel Responsible-Changed-By: remko Responsible-Changed-When: Wed Mar 30 05:35:19 UTC 2011 Responsible-Changed-Why: People report that this might be within UART, and I thought that you might be able to have a look at that? http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=154132 From owner-freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.ORG Wed Mar 30 05:37:00 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-i386@hub.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8D845106564A; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:37:00 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from remko@FreeBSD.org) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (freefall.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::28]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 623158FC15; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:37:00 +0000 (UTC) Received: from freefall.freebsd.org (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4) with ESMTP id p2U5b020085558; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:37:00 GMT (envelope-from remko@freefall.freebsd.org) Received: (from remko@localhost) by freefall.freebsd.org (8.14.4/8.14.4/Submit) id p2U5b0x7085554; Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:37:00 GMT (envelope-from remko) Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2011 05:37:00 GMT Message-Id: <201103300537.p2U5b0x7085554@freefall.freebsd.org> To: remko@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-i386@FreeBSD.org, freebsd-usb@FreeBSD.org From: remko@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: i386/153851: [keyboard] keyboard issues on new Intel Mother boards. Server is just switched from OpenDSD to FreeBSD. OpenBSD RAID driver worked fine with this Intel controller without any problem or messages in logs. FreeBSD works fine to but the messages inform that driver is not so perfect in my opinion. When I switched on caching system in the RAID controller there was many more messages in the logs like: +amr0: Too many retries on command 0xc7483ad8. Controller is likely dead When the cache is switched off there are only a few messages in the logs - I think when RAID controller do not reports the end of disc operation fast enough then driver reports error. I think that controller works fine but the driver is just to "nervous". Please try to investigate this issue - the problem is not resolved - I saw reports like my in google results - it is not only my problem.
