All FreeBSD patchsets had IPv6 issues and it was turned off by default for that reason, AFAIK. I couldn't find any information related to that on the FreeBSD Java site, a= nd I also didn't see any portaudit entries, but I think there must be some.=20 For example CVE-2010-4476 "Converting the deciaml value '2.2250738585072012= e-308'" causes a dos". There were several CVE's fixed with the last Release, see here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/security/javacpufeb2011-304611.ht= ml Best Regards alex From owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Feb 26 15:17:25 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 40D6E1065673 for ; Sat, 26 Feb 2011 15:17:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from barbara.xxx1975@libero.it) Received: from cp-out3.libero.it (cp-out3.libero.it [212.52.84.103]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2C4CC8FC13 for ; Sat, 26 Feb 2011 15:17:23 +0000 (UTC) X-CTCH-Spam: Unknown X-CTCH-RefID: str=0001.0A0B0201.4D6916BC.0031,ss=1,re=0.000,fgs=0 X-libjamoibt: 1419 Received: from wmail57 (172.31.0.53) by cp-out3.libero.it (8.5.133) (authenticated as barbara.xxx1975@libero.it) id 4D10BEAD04D90FA8 for freebsd-java@FreeBSD.org; Sat, 26 Feb 2011 16:05:31 +0100 Message-ID: <2508878.2526961298732731001.JavaMail.defaultUser@defaultHost> Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2011 16:05:31 +0100 (CET) From: Barbara To: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-SenderIP: 87.3.232.19 Cc: Subject: openjdk6 default VM X-BeenThere: freebsd-java@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list Reply-To: Barbara List-Id: Porting Java to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 26 Feb 2011 15:17:25 -0000 Just for curiosity, I'm wondering why the default VM for openjdk6 is the Client VM: $ /usr/local/openjdk6/bin/java -version openjdk version "1.6.0" OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-b21) OpenJDK Client VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode) This is not consistent with the other JVM I've installed: jdk15, jdk16, diablo- jdk16 and not even with openjdk7! I don't know if benchmarks/scimark2 could be considered a good benchmark to measure performances for real usage, but I get a 142% composite score running it with "-server" option. Barbara
