When I say "shaky" it means that video is stable (fixed) for some moments, than changes and stable again. But it's OK for the first command since 5 fps is the default according to PWCVIEW(1) and video changes about 5 times per second. The problem is with the second video which should change 30 times per second. It does not. And I'm not sure that a buffer change may help here since I get good vga (-s vga) video with 30 fpc (i.e. existing buffers allows it). The next problem is that just with the option "-s vga" the resulting fps should be 5 (the default). But I get a good 30 fps video. And the last problem is that adding "-f 5" to "-s vga" option does not result in 5 fps video -- I get good 30 fps video! > I think can be fixed by increasing the buffer size used by UVC > video driver, it is currently very small, only 2*7ms: > Index: patches/uvcvideo.h.diff > =================================================================== > --- patches/uvcvideo.h.diff (revision 1788) > +++ patches/uvcvideo.h.diff (working copy) > @@ -8,7 +8,7 @@ > +#define UVC_URBS 2 > /* Maximum number of packets per URB. */ > -#define UVC_MAX_PACKETS 32 > -+#define UVC_MAX_PACKETS 56 > ++#define UVC_MAX_PACKETS (8*16) /* ms/8 for HighSpeed */ > /* Maximum number of video buffers. */ > #define UVC_MAX_VIDEO_BUFFERS 32 > /* Maximum status buffer size in bytes of interrupt URB. */ However I tested the patch with webcamd 0.1.26 (just editted by hand the existing patch, rebuild/reinstall webcamd, replug my cam). Some minor changes. Since this version now provides Linux-like /dev/input/eventX device nodes I tested that a bit and made the following patches: 1. For the new webcamd: http://people.freebsd.org/~nox/dvb/webcamd/0.2.4/pctv452e.c-rc.patch Switch Technotrend S2-3600 and PCVTV 452e dvb-s2 tuner remote handling from .rc.legacy to .rc.core, allowing rc5 scancodes of (some) other remotes to show up on /dev/input/eventX so e.g. an universal remote with more buttons could be used instead of the shipped minimal remote of the PCVTV 452e tuner. (And this also allows repeat to work with the lirc patch below.) http://people.freebsd.org/~nox/dvb/webcamd/0.2.4/patch-input.h.txt Fix EVIOCGKEYCODE and EVIOCGKEYCODE_V2 ioctl definitions in linux/input.h, they need to be _IOWR not _IOR (like with FE_GET_PROPERTY they're wrong on Linux too but there the driver doesn't care.) 2. For multimedia/v4l_compat: http://people.freebsd.org/~nox/dvb/webcamd/0.2.4/v4l_compat-20101027_2.patch Add and headers needed to access /dev/input/eventX that webcamd now can provide. 3. New port multimedia/v4lutils: (preliminary, help wanted, maybe Hans wants to maintain this too like multimedia/libv4l that builds from the same sourcetree?) http://people.freebsd.org/~nox/dvb/webcamd/0.2.4/v4lutils.shar I mainly wanted this for the ir-keytable(1) tool, the other tools are not really tested, and ir-keytable(1) still looks for /sys/class/rc/ which we also don't have. But using that tool you can e.g. check remote events coming in on /dev/input/eventX, ir-keytable -d /dev/input/eventX -t list the current keytable, ir-keytable -d /dev/input/eventX -r or add scancodes on the fly by loading a custom keymap, ir-keytable -d /dev/input/eventX -w keymap.txt (on Linux this can be automated using udev, don't know if we need something like that also...) 4. Update comms/lirc to 0.9.0: http://people.freebsd.org/~nox/dvb/webcamd/0.2.4/lirc-0.9.0.patch This adds the devinput driver (lircd -H devinput ..) and a hack that fixes repeat using it (/dev/input/eventX) by replacing repeated scancodes with repeated key down events for lirc (tested with the pctv452e and mceusb drivers), I've also put that patch here: http://people.freebsd.org/~nox/dvb/lirc/patch-daemons%3a%3ahw_devinput.c.txt Note: the mceusb driver still works with lirc pointed at /dev/lircX and the the shipped mceusb remote but it seems to no longer work properly with lircd (and irrecord) pointed at /dev/lircX at least with some remotes I tested where it worked before with the version in the current (old) webcamd port. But this problem seems(?) to exist on Linux too so it's not webcamd's fault. The mceusb driver does work with the lirc devinput driver i.e. lirc pointed at /dev/input/eventX, then it detects scancodes for several of my remotes I have here, but at least for one remote it (as well as ir-keytable -t) doesn't see repeated scancodes when holding a button, something which did work with the old webcamd with mceusb when pointing lirc at /dev/lircX. Also, some (Linux-centric, so not all of them apply) notes re ir-keytable(1) and the lirc devinput change are here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?t=101151 And instead of editing hardware.conf on Linux with our lirc port you can set lircd_flags and lircd_device in rc.conf(5), like: lircd_flags="-H devinput" lircd_device="/dev/input/event0" Happy testing, :) Juergen From owner-freebsd-multimedia@FreeBSD.ORG Sat Jun 4 10:14:18 2011 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:4f8:fff6::34]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A77D6106564A for ; Sat, 4 Jun 2011 10:14:18 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from kwm@rainbow-runner.nl) Received: from fep13.mx.upcmail.net (fep13.mx.upcmail.net [62.179.121.33]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 037F08FC14 for ; Sat, 4 Jun 2011 10:14:17 +0000 (UTC) Received: from edge03.upcmail.net ([192.168.13.238]) by viefep13-int.chello.at (InterMail vM.8.01.02.02 201-2260-120-106-20100312) with ESMTP id <20110604101415.JJVB27705.viefep13-int.chello.at@edge03.upcmail.net>; Sat, 4 Jun 2011 12:14:15 +0200 Received: from [192.168.0.147] ([77.250.114.194]) by edge03.upcmail.net with edge id rmED1g01b4BjJe503mEEbd; Sat, 04 Jun 2011 12:14:15 +0200 X-SourceIP: 77.250.114.194 From: Koop Mast To: Juergen Lock Date: Sat, 04 Jun 2011 12:18:35 +0200 In-Reply-To: <201106031847.p53Ilgl3076499@triton8.kn-bremen.de> References: <201105240020.49377.hselasky@c2i.net> <4DDCF73B.2080200@gmail.com> <201105251442.27159.hselasky@c2i.net> <201106031847.p53Ilgl3076499@triton8.kn-bremen.de> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" X-Mailer: Evolution 3.0.2 FreeBSD GNOME Team Port Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Message-ID: <1307182718.9325.57.camel@crashalot.rainbow-runner.nl> Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Cloudmark-Analysis: v=1.1 cv=HQ3F56nxkum+cgCiDL7AXQpbvw7DWrWCBJRnYYnM0Zc= c=1 sm=0 a=JQ6luQXqRUoA:10 a=kj9zAlcOel0A:10 a=8kQB0OdkAAAA:8 a=6I5d2MoRAAAA:8 a=DlB2DMQMAzVtvU_tf2gA:9 a=5va_y12eDXwlX-9OA_AA:7 a=CjuIK1q_8ugA:10 a=9aOQ2cSd83gA:10 a=HpAAvcLHHh0Zw7uRqdWCyQ==:117 Cc: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org Subject: Re: Pre-release of webcamd [v0.2.4] - testing remotes X-BeenThere: freebsd-multimedia@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.5 Precedence: list List-Id: Multimedia discussions List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 04 Jun 2011 10:14:18 -0000 On Fri, 2011-06-03 at 20:47 +0200, Juergen Lock wrote: > In article <201105311932.38205.hselasky@c2i.net> you write: > >Hi, > Hi! > > > >Attaching new patch for ports. What exactly is "min nid"? Why pin 14 was traced with min nid 0 the first time, and with min nid 3 the second time? Now, let's get back to nid 11, which was "busy by seqmask 1". I digged my old email from July 2007 [2] on acpi@ about this laptop of mine (I was running 6.2-STABLE that days and had some ACPI troubles). From attached verbose dmesg log, however, I can see that snd_hda(4) worked! It was at revision 20070710_0047 that time. Apparently driver had changed quite a bit in 2007-2011, so the log is different, but I've noticed some interesting bits: Old driver (20070710_0047): -HDA config/quirks: softpcmvol forcestereo ivref50 ivref80 ivref100 ivref New driver (20100226_0142): +FG config/quirks: forcestereo ivref50 ivref80 ivref100 ivref I've tried to add "softpcmvol", did not make any difference, still no pcm device. Another interesting part in the old driver log is this: pcm0: HDA_DEBUG: Ctls commit... pcm0: [ 2] Ctl nid=11 Bind to NONE pcm0: [ 4] Ctl nid=17 DISABLED I see no such messages in new driver log, the closest lines are these: hdac0: Disabling pin nid 17 due to None connectivity. hdac0: Disabling ctl 4 nid 17 cnid -1 due to disabled widget. hdac0: Disabling nid 19 due to all it's consumers disabled. Nothing is said about nid 11 this time, but later it turns out that it is "busy by seqmask 1". Is there a quirk in new driver to force nid 11 "Bind to NONE" like the old driver did? Thanks. Feel free to request any additional information. ./danfe P.S. I'm CCing mav@ this time just to be sure he receives this email. Given zero interest despite lots of debug information, I start to think that perhaps I'm asking on the wrong maillist. Should I try stable@ or web forums instead?
