The changer isn't found at boot, but it is found after issuing 'camcontrol rescan x:x:1' where x:x:0 is the tape drive (IBM ULT3580-HH). The system is a recent 8.2. I tried hint.ch.0.at="scbus0" hint.ch.0.target="0" hint.ch.0.unit="1" but it didn't work.
