Below is a bit of sh that can be put into a script or run line by line that should record most connection setup and connection into a log in your home directory called "wifilog.txt" which you could upload if it's still not working. Then you tried running dhclient on it without wpa_supplicant running, which won't work. The problem unfortunately is that it can't seem to see the access point. It should show up in "ifconfig wlan0 scan". If it isn't, it means something is broken. Please find out which channel the access point is supposed to be on (if you see one valid scan result, please paste it here!) and then we can move on from there. Afaik, the firmware has basic hostap support, the only real thing missing are the powersafe bits. This goes also for IBSS mode, someone has to implement proper multi-station support. List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 27 Jun 2011 09:33:51 -0000 After bernhard and I discussed this a bit, we came to the conclusion this is papering over bug/bugs. So what I've discovered thus far: * If a radar event occurs in CAC, another CSA doesn't go out - the AP just changes channel * If a STA receives a CSA for a DFS channel and the hostap enters CAC, it doesn't immediately send beacon frames, so bmiss is never triggered. However, because of this, if the hostap shuffles away to another channel within the CAC time, the STA doesn't ever get an initial beacon to configure the beacon config from, and thus the STA never generates a bmiss; which means it never initiates another channel scan. Getting back to the original bug: The hostap is actually sending the correct channel in the new beacon frames but there's currently no code in sta_recv_mgmt() to update the bss channel. That should occur (and similarly occur for ibss/mesh modes as well.) It enforces a 60 (+ 1) second "beacon expect" timer when the station goes from CSA -> RUN. This forces the beacon configuration to be re-written if a beacon hasn't been heard by then. If a beacon is received, it clears the callback. What I don't like about it: * CAC is hard-coded to 60 seconds here. It should yank the config from net80211, but the net80211 NOL/CAC configuration values are static. * 'stamode' doesn't include MBSS (mesh) and needs some testing. I'll likely add a comment to that effect so it gets revisited when IBSS/MBSS DFS support is written/tested. * I think this belongs in net80211 rather than ath(4) so it can work for any wireless NIC which participates in a DFS BSS. (The NIC doesn't have to radar detection, it just has to receive/process a CSA and change channel.) I'll revisit that at a later date once all the kinks are worked out with ath(4). I've got 0 out-of-order packets from total 30min. of ipref. (Though, there are still lots of discarded mpdu frames.) Using M_WME_GETAC() is good enough for run(4). Here is the code. https://gitorious.org/run/run/trees/11n_rc2 (I'll play with it a little bit more before announcing.) > > So the questions! > > * Should the stack be throwing the action frame(s) for a given TID > onto the right hardware queue? Ie, the > driver can wait for all pending packets to the given node in the > relevant TID to have gone out before completing the ADDBA transaction. > I'm not sure yet about DELBA as I haven't yet gotten to implementing > it. :-) I have a feeling of the time delay (driver->usb stack->hw->usb stack->driver) might cause the problem. (But, might work fine.) The signal seems ok, the channel should be fine (unless channel 6 is -very- crowded) - ie, it's not trying to use channels 12/13 which are 11b and Japan only. I'm honestly quite stumped. Some further debugging is needed, but I'm personally short of spare time at the moment to try and help debug this kind of problem.
