The src.conf is not even mentioned here - it should be added as a new paragraph like the one for /etc/make.conf there, clearly stating its purpose. The old text mentions make.conf - with option that was renamed and moved to rc.conf, like e.g. NO_PROFILE to WITHOUT_PROFILE - or with option that is part of porter's handbook http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en/books/porters-handbook/install.html which references that should be removed from that paragraph: 25.7.3 Check /etc/make.conf .. A typical user will probably want to copy and uncomment the NO_PROFILE line found in /usr/share/examples/etc/make.conf to /etc/make.conf. Examine the other definitions, like NOPORTDOCS, and decide if they are relevant to you. I would even suggest to remove the paragraph "25.7.3 Check /etc/make.conf" as it is out-of-date. The description is not clear enough. It is not clear that n can be +n, -n or just n, and the meaning will change. In "UNIX in a nutshell" by Arnold Robbins, 4th edition, 2006, pages 87-88, there is, in my opinion, a more clear description: *quote* -amin +n | -n | n Find files last accessed more than n (+n), less that n (-n), or exactly n minutes ago. -cmin +n | -n | n Find files last changed more than n (+n), less that n (-n), or exactly n minutes ago. -mmin +n | -n | n Find files last modified more than n (+n), less that n (-n), or exactly n minutes ago. *end quote* Does anybody agree/disagree with me? I'll provide a patch if there is agreement. FreeBSD Boot Loader Menu" . To my knowledge , nowhere there is a sufficient information about items in that menu , one by one . A good documentation of that menu , especially for items ( 3 ) ( Safe Mode ) , ( 4 ) ( Single User Mode ) , ( 6 ) ( Loader Prompt ) , and what can be done if these items are selected , may be a very useful addition to http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/boot.html Chapter 13 The FreeBSD Booting Process Especially , if a less experienced about FreeBSD person prepares such a documentation it may be very valuable guide to new users , because when such documents are prepared by very experienced persons , their "assumed knowledge" is not reflected in the documentation . It seems that addition of "freebsd-zfs" [1] to bsdinstall/chapter.xml was put into wrong place because: 1) it conflicts with previous sentence, which states 'A _standard_ FreeBSD GPT installation uses at least three partitions', 2) now that list contains four items, 3) it is a bit weird 'standard installation' if it creates partitions for both (UFS && ZFS) filesystem types. Only 203 times is it spelled correctly, with a single "e": queuing. Could this have been an intentional industrial misspelling for copyright/trademark reasons, or is this just a word that got started wrong and cut and paste has multiplied the error? Not exactly. The FDP at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/fdp-primer/writing-style.html says: Use American English Spelling There are several variants of English, with different spellings for the same word. Where spellings differ, use the American English variant. "color", not "colour", "rationalize", not "rationalise", and so on. Note: The use of British English may be accepted in the case of a contributed article, however the spelling must be consistent within the whole document. The other documents such as books, web site, manual pages, etc. will have to use American English.
