Using Chrome I am able to specify a default sans-serif font as well as a default font size, so the only thing your patch does is change my settings to something else. I understand that many people don't set default fonts for whatever reason, but I believe that just setting the "font-family" property to sans-serif should have the desired effect without irking those who have found their font settings. On Chrome in Windows I believe this would switch the font from Times New Roman to Arial. The reason I specified Verdana in the beginning was to have some familiarity between the website font and the documentation font - before (and now) I think it looks disjointed. I have just made font-family sans-serif without a specific default font, however. I've kept the font-size specified as it makes for a nicer, smaller and less huge and potentially daunting reading experience (to new users). How's http://tau.devrandom.co.uk/issyl0/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/ now, as a compromise? For what it's worth, I didn't know I could set my browser's default font. The fonts I like depend on what I'm reading, so I'd personally rather not have to set a default font to make my experience better, hence my wish to change a website's defaults to be of general benefit to the public. I plan to commit this tomorrow (Monday 15th April) if all is well. Isabell. Doesn't that depend on the user's browser and screen resolution? I fixed the www build part when CVS->SVN migration of the doc tree, but left the relnotes part because it was still in SGML. IIRC, the script on the server is not exactly the same as one in the repository. You can safely remove old links like [67]-STABLE in relnotes.xml. -- Hiroki ----Security_Multipart(Mon_Apr_15_13_45_02_2013_659)-- Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.13 (FreeBSD) iEYEABECAAYFAlFrhc4ACgkQTyzT2CeTzy3CewCfbexta7f4kvhRp2vctwFRXKYl EvwAnA1787rhDUC6Hhga4mmsGd69PcIx =aPAM -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ----Security_Multipart(Mon_Apr_15_13_45_02_2013_659)---- From owner-freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.ORG Mon Apr 15 04:51:11 2013 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.FreeBSD.org [8.8.178.115]) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0D910D8; Mon, 15 Apr 2013 04:51:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from gjb@FreeBSD.org) Received: from onyx.glenbarber.us (onyx.glenbarber.us [IPv6:2607:fc50:1000:c200::face]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D85A816A; Mon, 15 Apr 2013 04:51:10 +0000 (UTC) Received: from glenbarber.us (70.15.88.86.res-cmts.sewb.ptd.net [70.15.88.86]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) (Authenticated sender: gjb) by onyx.glenbarber.us (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id D437F23F804; Mon, 15 Apr 2013 00:51:09 -0400 (EDT) DKIM-Filter: OpenDKIM Filter v2.8.2 onyx.glenbarber.us D437F23F804 Authentication-Results: onyx.glenbarber.us; dkim=none reason="no signature"; dkim-adsp=none Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2013 00:51:07 -0400 From: Glen Barber To: Hiroki Sato Subject: Re: Doing some unroutine maintenance... You can safely remove old links like > [67]-STABLE in relnotes.xml. >=20 Yes, this is actually why I decided to wait until after I get some sleep to do this. The webupdate script on the server definitely differs from that in the repository (I do not like that, to be honest). The src/ checkouts are also missing on the server for !head/. I'll happily remove [67]-STABLE, but the original reason for the email was to fix stable/9 (missing entirely) and stable/8 (broken link). I'll look at it again in the morning. Happy Monday!! This is Adam here at RankPop, I took a good look at freebsd.org while researching businesses that we wanted to work with and well, now I'm excited to chat with you! So, I created a report for freebsd.org (which there's a link to below) that shows some really important data, like the keywords that you're currently paying to rank for on Google (looks like there's 6 of them, currently) as well as the keywords you're showing up for organically (I'm seeing 14054 in the top 20). There's a lot more to it, of course, but we can go over that together. We call this our little get-to-know-us report! Oh, here's a link to the report, by the way: http://www.mxgrid.net/em/link.php?M=4220188&N=4227&L=3041&F=T I'll be calling to follow-up and want to make sure that the right person has this report. In case you haven't already heard about the splash we're making...we help more than 200 companies with their internet marketing. We have basic SEO link building strategies and some really awesome and creative high end Content Marketing services that we are super excited about too! How do I mount a disk from a Windows machine that is on my network, like smbmount in Linux? with the following text : " Use the SMBFS toolset. It includes a set of kernel modifications and a set of userland programs. The programs and information are available as mount_smbfs(8) in the base system. " In the referenced man page : http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=mount_smbfs&sektion=8 there is the following example : " EXAMPLES The following example illustrates how to connect to SMB server SAMBA as user GUEST, and mount shares PUBLIC and TMP: mount_smbfs -I samba.mydomain.com //guest@samba/public /smb/public mount_smbfs -I 192.168.20.3 -E koi8-r:cp866 //guest@samba/tmp /smb/tmp It is also possible to use fstab(5) for smbfs mounts (the example below doesn't prompt for a password): //guest@samba/public /smb/public smbfs rw,noauto,-N 0 0 " The part about /etc/fstab file of this example is not working . A working example is generated via the following mail thread : http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-questions/2013-April/250500.html beginning from : http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-questions/2013-April/250496.html The following text may be inserted instead of the existing /etc/fstab part : --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If the following values are not defined in the Windows XP computer , "Workgroup" : Work_Group_NAME_in_Windows : "Computer name" : NetBIOS_NAME_in_Windows IP v4 number of the Windows computer IP_Number_of_the_Windows_Computer such as 192.168.10.30 with net mask 255.255.255.0 . ( The entered IP number is shown as 192.168.20.255 . ) Share_Name_in_Windows define them by logging as an administrator : >From Windows Explorer -> My Computer -> Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Computer Name -> Change -> More -> ... It is also possible to use fstab(5) for smbfs mounts . The password for the Windows administrator is asked during boot . To define a share , use Windows Explorer : Highlight a drive or a directory : Click the Right mouse button . >From displayed form : Click "Sharing and Security ..." Mark Radio button : "Share this folder" If it is a directory , either accept default name or give a new name . If it is a drive , a fixed name is assigned such as G$ for G: drive . The given name is called here as Share_Name_in_Windows . With the above values : /etc/nsmb.conf : ----------------------------- [default] Workgroup=Work_Group_NAME_in_Windows [NetBIOS_NAME_in_Windows] addr=IP_Number_of_the_Windows_Computer ----------------------------- The following values are NOT required ( they are not taken into consideration ) : [NetBIOS_NAME_in_Windows:user_name_in_Windows_Administrators] password=MYTOPSECRETPASSWORD During boot , the password is asked . Without password , Windows XP is not allowing access to the share . /etc/hosts : ----------------------------- IP_Number_of_the_Windows_Computer NetBIOS_NAME_in_Windows ----------------------------- /etc/fstab : ----------------------------- //user_name_in_Windows_Administrators@NetBIOS_NAME_in_Windows/Share_Name_in_Windows /mnt smbfs rw 0 0 ----------------------------- If a mount statement is used instead of /etc/fstab entry ( or if the share is unmounted during server working and remounted manually ) : mount_smbfs -I IP_Number_of_the_Windows_Computer //user_name_in_Windows_Administrators@NetBIOS_NAME_in_Windows/Share_Name_in_Windows /mnt ( Password will be asked during mount , do not specify any password in anywhere , these are not taking into consideration .) where /mnt is the mount directory in FreeBSD server , the IP v4 number IP_Number_of_the_Windows_Computer will be replaced by actual IP number . --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (2) At the end of the following page : --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/network-samba.html the following paragraph may be added : " 39.9.4 Becoming a Client to a Windows XP Computer For this purpose , please study mount_smbfs(8) man page .
