Also i'm not sure what is the wifi chip on it cannot say if it supported or not. I've some routerboards from the 4xx series (433UAH, 450, 450G) and they all work fine (booting over NFS). There are a few options out there to address the installation size footprint (crochet, zrouter, etc.) and USB storage is also an option. I'm (very) interested in fully support all that models (RB4xx and RB7xx), but it may take a while (i've a bunch of things to work on right now, but feel free to poke me from time to time until i get it done). Thanks, Piotr Kubaj. >> > > Hi Piotr, > > Well, its kind of supported but there is no driver for the NAND on it, > which means you can boot from NAND yet. I understand RouterBOOT expects /kernel on a yaffs filesystem. There is no yaffs support so could u-boot be written there from Linux and chainload FreeBSD? But we don't need to do that, we can simply create a yaffs image (with mkyaffs2) and write it to NAND. I'd it working on RB450 once and it boots just fine. If i remember correctly we can easily create a port for mkyaffs[2]. One thing that would be nice about the uboot is remove the 4MB limitation for the kernel 'slice', but the good thing is that RouterBOOT can read a gzipped kernel. Looking on opened box, there are three things interesting for me: - there is z 2x7 'holes area' (ready for soldering 2x7 pin header) labeled J1. Does anybody know anything about it? Googling for edgerouter J1 pin header does not produce anything usable. - near an J1 area, there are two SMD LEDs. Both are on. On PCB, there are labels D34 and D35. Any idea what are they intended for? Could they be user controlled? Not much usefull when the box is closed, but anyway... - there is a reset switch accessible from outside, marked SW1 on PCB. When running FreeBSD, however, it has no efect. Any idea how it could be used for launching some user action? Maybe it could be accessible via GPIO driver, probably not written yet... Anyway, big thanks for all working on MIPS support. It was really simple to put FreeBSD on box. When I put it on my home network, I will try native buildworld/buildkernel/etc. to do some CPU speed test and similar things. I'd suspect there are other things connected up with GPIO on-board than GPIO pins exposed to the outside world, but even if that's not the case, that's still the number of GPIO pins the SoC supports. It's possible that the EdgeRouter Lite uses a different pin for its F/D button. According to the driver, gonzo used the CAM-0100's pin assignment as the default. It should be easy to extract a list of pin assignments we care about from looking at the patches from Ubiquiti to the Simple Executive and Linux, but I haven't looked personally. (I don't ever use GPIO on Octeon.) The octeon_gpio_pins array probably needs to be configured at boot based on board type. (So it should normally be 16 items (or 16 plus a terminator) and get filled out by board type, I'd say.) Thanks, Juli. And why 16 pins, when there is only one > switch, and only one pin is reported in gpioctl output. Each pin got its own interrupt. I believe this message is printed when bus_setup_intr is called. The discrepancy between gpioctl and kernel is explained that only some of actual pins are accessible from userland. Because some pins might be reserved as signal lines by other drivers (e.g. card detect for SD interface).
