Because only read-only root fs was available, I couldn't do any debugging (/usr resides in a separate fs). Actually any zfs or zpool commands seemed to crash immediately. Of course I couldn't make installworld. I guess this incompatibility had been introduced by recent several ZFS related MFC/MFV between two builds. I believe old userland should be usable with a newer kernel (or I cannot follow the standard install procedure). If it is an expected behavior, it should be mentioned in /usr/src/UPDATING. % uname -a FreeBSD elvenbow.cc.kyushu-u.ac.jp 10.0-STABLE FreeBSD 10.0-STABLE #0 r268480: Thu Jul 10 15:25:15 JST 2014 root@elvenbow.cc.kyushu-u.ac.jp:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/ELVENBOW amd64 % what /boot/kernel.new/kernel /boot/kernel.new/kernel: FreeBSD 10.0-STABLE #0 r268734: Wed Jul 16 12:36:48 JST 2014 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. Previously the uart(4) driver prevented any process from changing the baudrate or the CLOCAL and HUPCL control flags. By removing the restrictions, operators can make changes to the serial console port without having to reboot. However, when getty(8) is started on the serial device that is associated with the low-level console, a misconfigured terminal line in /etc/ttys will now have a real impact. Before upgrading the kernel, make sure that /etc/ttys has the serial console device configured as 3wire without baudrate to preserve the previous behaviour. E.g: ttyu0 "/usr/libexec/getty 3wire" vt100 on secure -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. This script has "KEYWORD: nojail" so it is not run when full-blown jail starts, that's just fine. Default /etc/crontab runs /usr/libexec/save-entropy to save entropy for host and for each jail, that's not fine. Jailed /usr/libexec/save-entropy invocations just waste entropy. Workaround: comment out /usr/libexec/save-entropy in /etc/crontab for each running jail and each future jail. Fix: use attached patch to fix save-entropy so it just stops if jailed. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. Setting it enables a few things: - CFLAGS has -g added to generate debug data during compilation - Binaries and libraries are built as a .full version which includes debug - The .full file is converted into one with the debug data stripped out (no extra extension), and a separate debug data file (.debug extension) - Debug data is installed under /usr/lib/debug/... Kernel standalone debug files have a few differences: - The -g flag has to be added via the kernel config file (it is set in GENERIC) - WITHOUT_KERNEL_SYMBOLS will avoid splitting the kernel objects - Extensions are different (.debug for the full object, .symbols for the debug data) - Debug data is installed in the same directory as the kernel objects, in /boot/kernel The last point is an annoyance, as /boot may not be a very large filesystem -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. The problem is that the glue code in libc doesn't convert the errno retrieved from tcgetattr properly in lib/libc/gen/isatty.c (which subsequently gets used in lib/libc/gen/ttyname.c), so the errno raised is actually EBADF. This issue was found by the NetBSD libc ATF testcases. Example: % cat /root/test_isatty_negative_one.c #include #include #include int main(void) { assert(!isatty(-1)); assert(errno == ENOTTY); return (0); } % /root/test_isatty_negative_one Assertion failed: (errno == ENOTTY), function main, file /root/test_isatty_negative_one.c, line 10. The problem is that make has builtin rules for lex and yacc that can't be turned off. Most people don't run into this because their configparser.c is newer (or at least not older) than configparser.y, but sometimes svn plays a trick on you and suddenly make wants to regenerate configparser.c. Fixing = this is not simply a matter of removing configlexer.c and configparser.c from the repo, because make's builtin rules won't produce working code in this case.= As a workaround, make sure that configlexer.c and configparser.c are newer than configlexer.lex and configparser.y. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.ORG Fri Jul 18 10:24:55 2014 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-bugs@freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [8.8.178.115]) (using TLSv1 with cipher ADH-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (No client certificate requested) by hub.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 2ECC173A for ; The following script demonstrates the problem: #!/bin/sh . /etc/rc.subr . /etc/network.subr IFCONFIG_CMD="/bin/echo ${IFCONFIG_CMD}" ifconfig_em0_1_alias0="inet 10.0.16.16/32" ifconfig_em0_1_alias1="inet 10.0.16.18/32" ifconfig_em0_1_alias2="inet 10.0.16.20/32" ifalias_af_common em0.1 inet alias On 9.3-RELEASE this incorrectly attempts to call ifconfig with "em0_1": /sbin/ifconfig em0_1 inet 10.0.16.16/32 alias /sbin/ifconfig em0_1 inet 10.0.16.18/32 alias /sbin/ifconfig em0_1 inet 10.0.16.20/32 alias The correct output when run on 9.2-RELEASE: /sbin/ifconfig em0.1 inet 10.0.16.16/32 alias /sbin/ifconfig em0.1 inet 10.0.16.18/32 alias /sbin/ifconfig em0.1 inet 10.0.16.20/32 alias The relevant commit in stable/9 is r264439 (MFC of r264243). The original code only normalized (ltr $_if) in subshells so the normalized value was not exposed to ifalias_af_common_handler(). What actually happens is target_file converted to target_dir/basename and always fails when tested with S_ISDIR(). It's also unclear why -s flag is required. If the source_file is not a directory ln(1) can just call rmdir(2) + link(2) instead of rmdir(2) + symlink(2). $ echo >foo $ mkdir bar $ ln -sF foo bar $ ls bar foo but replacing children works fine $ echo >foo $ mkdir -p bar/foo $ ln -sF foo bar $ stat -x bar/foo | head -2 File: "bar/foo" Size: 3 FileType: Symbolic Link -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
