List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 19 Aug 2015 01:23:55 -0000 Hi there, I just tried to install FreeBSD 10.2 on my Thinkpad X230 after reading that it was well supported here - https://wiki.freebsd.org/Laptops/Thinkpad_X230. The wifi card (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200) is supported by iwn according to that page and this page - https://wiki.freebsd.org/dev/iwn(4). However before and after install ifconfig only shows the ethernet device and the loopback. I tried adding if_iwn_load="YES" to loader.conf as suggested by the man page, but the dmesg just came back saying the iwn is already loaded... I came across some threads from way back in the 9.1 days ( http://freebsd.1045724.n5.nabble.com/What-driver-should-I-use-for-intel-centrino-wireless-N-2200-BGN-td5750303.html) and tried some of the driver loading suggestions there, on the off chance they might still be applicable, but still no interfaces show up other than ethernet and loopback. Is this device supported in 10.2, and if so what am I doing wrong? Try it out and see if you can get it working. The AR9285 combo NIC is something that I have and have started (but not finished) basic bluetooth coexistence on - so I can be arm-twisted into doing that. AR9462 and AR95xx are .. more complicated. :( I hvae the NICS though. -a -adrian On 18 August 2015 at 20:25, Carlos J Puga Medina wrote: > On Wed, 2015-08-19 at 03:56 +0100, Miguel C wrote: >> I have an "AR9460" this one also 'includes' bluetooth... and yes it >> would be nice to have it working (I can leave without it, but it >> would certainly be great to be able to use it) > > My main purpose is to get all laptop's devices working on FreeBSD ;) > > Notes: > > - Suspend/resume untested > - 1x USB 3.0 and 2x USB 2.0 ports > - Brightness keys don't work but brightness works via > sysctl(acpi_video.ko) > - Mute and volume controls work > - Bluetooth doesn't work > - SD Card reader recognized but untested > - Sound works > - Video works > - VGA and HDMI ports untested > - Ethernet port works > - WiFi card works > - Webcam works > > >> Melhores Cumprimentos // Best Regards >> ----------------------------------------------- >> Miguel Clara >> IT - Sys Admin & Developer >> >> On Wed, Aug 19, 2015 at 3:43 AM, Carlos J Puga Medina >> wrote: >> > Hi Adrian, >> > >> > I have a laptop which includes the AR9285 chipset [0]. >> > >> > Just for the record, the WiFi works flawlessly with the ath(4) >> > driver. >> > >> > Bluetooth isn't recognized correctly, as you know >> > >> > Aug 18 09:49:34 bsd devd: Executing 'logger Unknown USB device: >> > vendor >> > 0x1bcf product 0x288e bus uhub3' >> > Aug 18 09:49:34 bsd root: Unknown USB device: vendor 0x1bcf product >> > 0x288e bus uhub3 >> > >> > Are you still interested to get bluetooth working? >> > >> > Regards, >> > -- >> > Carlos Jacobo Puga Medina >> > PGP fingerprint = C60E 9497 5302 793B CC2D BB89 A1F3 5D66 E6D0 >> > 5453 >> > [0] http://www.toshiba.es/discontinued-products/portege-z830-10f/ > -- > Carlos Jacobo Puga Medina > PGP fingerprint = C60E 9497 5302 793B CC2D BB89 A1F3 5D66 E6D0 5453 From owner-freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org Wed Aug 19 09:46:44 2015 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-wireless@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A221B9BC664; Wed, 19 Aug 2015 09:46:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tobyslight@gmail.com) Received: from mail-la0-x233.google.com (mail-la0-x233.google.com [IPv6:2a00:1450:4010:c03::233]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "Google Internet Authority G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 29C8516B1; Wed, 19 Aug 2015 09:46:44 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from tobyslight@gmail.com) Received: by lahi9 with SMTP id i9so115566802lah.2; Wed, 19 Aug 2015 02:46:41 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20120113; h=mime-version:in-reply-to:references:from:date:message-id:subject:to :cc:content-type; bh=J0Q1pW13qqP510n/8lbrQwVuOI6fDapsHC/FXNNCqyA=; b=BRbl4SkGTcsVNmceyIFx6MVMFHIeB5dd2T1DfKv66jBMVmQzv9FBylMWX0e7xH1igp UuZPHwL8CaeFFEAZKxjCh71EXnQ9Ge21abOqdbQusgahiEZ8V1f36edwfuX1OC9E0Ttk z3BI/z28klRN3YAJt2BnKrheJFuDS8ivC13f81iog/CFCLVP/Nj0OyW9SSVFdhRBI+7u DEt609cf68DAAXK9djNi4WDro3rky7Zo9upxSB07izfxrGzcG1QzK0JS6wqIjOGFd81c iaPXEfhKz1zu/ZtFZED/2CUFSZDrc8qLgY15nKsUgOFp5/Dq9mtU9eYeJIta1dwVzH0T HYJg== X-Received: by 10.112.169.97 with SMTP id ad1mr10503596lbc.90.1439977601037; Wed, 19 Aug 2015 02:46:41 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: by 10.25.158.12 with HTTP; Wed, 19 Aug 2015 02:46:01 -0700 (PDT) In-Reply-To: References: From: Toby Slight Date: Wed, 19 Aug 2015 10:46:01 +0100 Message-ID: Subject: Re: X230 Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200 not working To: Adrian Chadd Cc: FreeBSD Questions , "freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org" Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 X-Content-Filtered-By: Mailman/MimeDel 2.1.20 X-BeenThere: freebsd-wireless@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.20 Precedence: list List-Id: "Discussions of 802.11 stack, tools device driver development." I was running into the same problem -- appeared to be associated, but was not passing any traffic. rsu0: on usbus0 rsu0: MAC/BB RTL8712 cut 3 My wpa_supplicant.conf was very simple: network={ ssid="my-ssid" psk="my-psk" } Confused, because this worked elsewhere. On a whim I decided to get more verbose: network={ ssid="my-ssid" proto=RSN pairwise=CCMP group=CCMP key_mgmt=WPA-PSK psk="my-psk" } And like magic it started passing traffic. Hope this helps someone else out there. I will plan on copying a gzipped tarball (later today) of the kernel directory for today to the same Web site as everything else. I'm happy to poke at dumps & test things; I track for stable/10 & head daily (on different slices of the laptop's drive) -- but I don't normally run head for long (or at work). But I can do that if it would help figure out what the problem is. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. As an example: 1) ifconfig wlan0 create wlandev wlanmode ahdemo channel 2) ifconfig wlan0 destroy 3) ifconfig wlan0 create wlandev wlanmode ibss ssid ssid 4) ifconfig wlan0 up may result in incorrect ic->ic_curchan value passed into driver and may lead to crash (for example, wpi firmware throws an error here). This patch adds a check into ieee80211_start_locked() and resets ic->ic_curchan to &ic->ic_channels[0] when the channel is incompatible with current mode. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
