This seemed to be due to the iwn0 driver - at least that's what the messages above the db prompt stated... However, I had, about 10 minutes before the panic, loaded the coretemp and acpi_ibm kernel modules, so I wonder if they might have somehow had something to do with it? Anyway, I just wanted to find out what the best way to report this is, and how to best get and submit whatever info might be useful to the developers? This isn't strictly true - it should find the first channel that is available for the given operating mode. However, I think defaulting to the first channel is fine - it's typically available for all modes. If someone would like to correctly implement this feature - try to find a channel that is valid for the given operating mode and error out if we can't find one. This prevents various NICs (eg wpi(4)) from throwing a firmware error. Tested: * ath(4), STA/AP mode * iwn(4), STA/adhoc mode PR: kern/202502 Submitted by: Andriy Voskoboinyk Changes: head/sys/net80211/ieee80211_proto.c -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. I've actually ordered a 6205, cos I'd really like to run 10.2 and have some stability. I will try and use the laptop as much as possible between now and when it arrives from China. You'll notice that there's no wifi parent ifnet device now - you have to clone them to have things work. (ie, there's no ath0, iwn0, etc.) So, you need to update your rc.d scripts in order for things to work at startup, or they won't work. I've asked Gleb to update UPDATING with a notice so people aren't (completely) confused by the new behaviour.
