I'm running head r297219 (24 March) on a Dell XPS 8900 with an onboard NIC. To send the WOL packet, I run this on a neighboring 10.2-RELEASE machine: wake bridge0 64:00:6a:80:be:cd As I mentioned in the mail thread: In em_get_wakeup(), the eeprom_data is zero, so adapter->wol stays zero, so ifconfig doesn't show any WOL capabilities. When I ignore the eeprom_data by commenting out the "if" condition, WOL capabilities appear in ifconfig. However, even when I enable WOL with ifconfig, WOL still doesn't work after a "shutdown -p now". em0: flags=3D8843 metric 0 mtu 1500 =20=20=20=20=20=20=20 options=3D4219b ether 64:00:6a:80:be:cd inet a.b.c.d netmask 0xffffff80 broadcast e.f.g.h nd6 options=3D29 media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT ) status: active em0@pci0:0:31:6: class=3D0x020000 card=3D0x06b81028 chip=3D0x15b8808= 6 rev=3D0x31 hdr=3D0x00 vendor =3D 'Intel Corporation' device =3D 'Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V' class =3D network subclass =3D ethernet smbios.system.maker=3D"Dell Inc." smbios.system.product=3D"XPS 8900" smbios.bios.reldate=3D"11/12/2015" smbios.bios.version=3D"2.1.0" --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Mon Mar 28 08:46:48 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id ED82EAE0844 for ; Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:46:48 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id CD1BA1BAA for ; Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:46:48 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u2S8kmHX078658 for ; Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:46:48 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 208343] [em] wake on lan not working with Intel I219 V2 Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:46:48 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: madpilot@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Mon, 28 Mar 2016 11:21:22 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.21 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2016 08:46:49 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D208343 --- Comment #5 from Guido Falsi --- (In reply to Sean Bruno from comment #3) > btw, what do you use to send the WOL packet to the machine and what's the > command line you are using? I modified the example to increase the buffer size (vs. decreas= e) and I see the same thing. It must be that the conclusions reached in this discussion are wrong: =3D=3D begin quote of [1] =3D=3D So, I looked at what getsockopt SO_RCVBUF returns, and it returns:=20 case SO_RCVBUF:=20 optval =3D so->so_rcv.sb_hiwat;=20 Which is NOT S-BMAX, so it looks like OpenSSH only ever gets 66052 bytes=20 for the buffer...=20 If it's decided to base it's waiting for ack on SO_RCVBUF, then this=20 is probably where the issue is...=20 =3D=3D end quote of [1] =3D=3D=3D So it sounds like this bug should be closed/worksforme. In head, cluster_read() and bread() relibably reset bp to NULL on error, _a= nd_ brelse ignores NULL argument. I added the NULL check in front of the brelse() because the function contains a comment that indicates that passing NULL to it is considered incorrect. My assumption was that the brelse() was there for a reason and that bp would sometimes not be NULL or at least could be in the future. cluster_read() and bread*() indeed seem to reliably reset bp to NULL on error, but unlike breadn_flags(), cluster_read() has no comment that explicitly mentions this, so I wasn't sure that one can depend on this behaviour. If the behaviour is unlikely to change in the future, I agree that the brelse() should be removed. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Tue Mar 29 16:01:36 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6FFA5AE2592 for ; As I've noted in the comment, this is just an initial approach to make sure the problem is caused by not bouncing the whole region (and then = the offsets don't match anymore). Regarding the "again" label, I'm not really sure we can get rid of it, for = the mapped case (_bus_dmamap_count_pages) it looks like we can remove it, but f= or the other cases it depends on whether maxsegsz is a multiple of a PAGE_SIZE= , or else we might end up with segments that don't have consecutive offsets AFAI= CT. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Wed Mar 30 14:18:09 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4BC49AE3CB2 for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:18:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 3CEE61DED for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:18:09 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u2UEI9Rp037406 for ; Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:18:09 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 208365] [umass] Cannot fsck 3TB USB disk Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:18:09 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: phk@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: royger@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Wed, 30 Mar 2016 15:08:23 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.21 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:18:09 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D208365 --- Comment #17 from Poul-Henning Kamp --- I'm sort of confused about why we would bounce in the first place ? Seems like on of my flash drives became buggy: sometimes it work well, sometimes it gives read/write errors. The problem is, however, how FreeBSD handles umounting of this device. After issuing `umount' it tries to write = on drive infinitely (waited for half an hour), and if the drive is detached the system panics. No backtrace yet, but may try to reproduce and gather more i= nfo. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Thu Mar 31 13:40:20 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2F0DDAE46AA for ; Thu, 31 Mar 2016 13:40:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 1FAD51D18 for ; Thu, 31 Mar 2016 13:40:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u2VDeJU1075860 for ; Thu, 31 Mar 2016 13:40:19 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 208417] Infinite attempts to write to (broken?) flash drive, panic on detach Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 13:40:20 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: amdmi3@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: attachments.created Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 13:46:08 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.21 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 13:40:20 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D208417 --- Comment #1 from Dmitry Marakasov --- Created attachment 168817 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=3D168817&action= =3Dedit Log --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Thu Mar 31 14:50:16 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2FB24AE46C3 for ; Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:50:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 20EEA1310 for ; Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:50:16 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u2VEoFkv051063 for ; Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:50:16 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 208365] [umass] Cannot fsck 3TB USB disk Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:50:16 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: hselasky@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: royger@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 15:46:02 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.21 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 31 Mar 2016 14:50:16 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D208365 --- Comment #20 from Hans Petter Selasky --- With the attached patch I can no longer reproduce the fault.
