In the latter case, I have found a circumvention (of sorts): After dhclient finally times out and gives up, login (as root) on ttyv1, then issue "servi= ce netif restart wlan0". In my experience, this always makes it work again. (= As I use xdm, started via getty out of /etc/ttys, I then also issue "service xdm stop".) Per suggestion, I have augmented /etc/rc.conf with 'wlandebug_wlan0=3D"state+scan+auth+assoc+crypto"' ... and while I did not encounter the above-described issue on the first "head" boot this morning, I did on the second, when the laptop was running: FreeBSD g1-252.catwhisker.org 11.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 11.0-CURRENT #406=20 r298919M/298920:1100106: Mon May 2 04:42:04 PDT 2016=20=20=20=20 root@g1-252.catwhisker.org:/common/S4/obj/usr/src/sys/CANARY amd64 For each of the "head" boots this morning, I booted verbosely; I have retai= ned a few log files from the second boot (where link was dropped), and managed = to attach one of them. After the installing the patch, I verified that I was on 10.3 p1 : root@www:~ # freebsd-version 10.3-RELEASE-p1 However, when I re-run fetch: " freebsd-update fetch Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 4 mirrors found. Fetching metadata signature for 10.3-RELEASE from update5.freebsd.org... do= ne. Fetching metadata index... done. Inspecting system... done. Preparing to download files... done. No updates needed to update system to 10.3-RELEASE-p0." It is indicating 10.3 p0=20 See the later comments on this thread, https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/56060/ Slightly more serious issue for people that have built their own kernels. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Mon May 2 16:44:06 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 87494B290BF for ; Disabling MSI on the ahci driver via the loader "set hint.ahci.X.msi=3D0" where X is the ahci bus number, will allow normal dete= ction and access to the SATA disks. Steps to reproduce Attempt to install FreeBSD 10.3-STABLE onto a A740GM-M v7.0 motherboard with SATA disk(s). Atual results Boot messages show many timeouts on the ahci bus while querying the disks. During installation and use of the live file system, no SATA devices are available. Expected results Booting into the installation should detect SATA disks as normal. The ahci driver should detect the IXP700 chipset as being unable to use MSI and disa= ble it. Build date and hardware FreeBSD 10.3-RELEASE 2016-03-25 usb stick image on amd64 Additional information I believe this is also the case with any version of FreeBSD since 8.4-STABL= E. The workaround is to set hint.ahci.0.msi=3D0 at the loader prompt prior to booting the installation disk. PR 174985 seems to be related to this issue. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Mon May 2 19:15:34 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B5262B2AF64 for ; Mon, 2 May 2016 19:15:34 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 9D4901EB0 for ; Mon, 2 May 2016 19:15:34 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u42JFYkc032029 for ; Mon, 2 May 2016 19:15:34 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209156] [asmc] [patch] add support for more models and restore keyboard backlight after resume Date: Mon, 02 May 2016 19:15:34 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: commit-hook@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Mon, 02 May 2016 19:30:48 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 02 May 2016 19:15:34 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D209156 --- Comment #2 from commit-hook@freebsd.org --- A commit references this bug: Author: adrian Date: Mon May 2 19:15:16 UTC 2016 New revision: 298937 URL: https://svnweb.freebsd.org/changeset/base/298937 Log: [asmc] add support for more models and restore keyboard backlight after resume. Furthermore: if once queried the modes via 'videoinfo' at grub, the following boot and reboots are in 'blind mode' as grub says. First Video output comes when the nvidia xorg driver loads. To get linux kernel boot messages back, the noteb= ook has to be shutdown and started again. Maybe linux kernel parameter reboot= =3Dcold leads to the same. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Wed May 4 10:13:25 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5121CB2B40D for ; Wed, 4 May 2016 10:13:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 41EA8147D for ; Wed, 4 May 2016 10:13:25 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u44ADPRc014599 for ; Wed, 4 May 2016 10:13:25 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209259] kernel panic when using PF and NAT Date: Wed, 04 May 2016 10:13:25 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 10.3-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Many People X-Bugzilla-Who: sebastien.boggia@unistra.fr X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_id short_desc product version rep_platform op_sys bug_status bug_severity priority component assigned_to reporter cc attachments.created Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Wed, 04 May 2016 11:00:02 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 04 May 2016 10:13:25 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D209259 Bug ID: 209259 Summary: kernel panic when using PF and NAT Product: Base System Version: 10.3-RELEASE Hardware: amd64 OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Many People Priority: --- Component: kern Assignee: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: sebastien.boggia@unistra.fr CC: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org CC: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Created attachment 169953 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=3D169953&action= =3Dedit core.txt file We recently deployed a new PF firewall for our Wi-Fi users. It seems as if it might get some sort of oth= er input from the serial console since the passphrase isn't correct when mount= ing occurs, and I have to enter it again from they keyboard OR serial console at this phase). Beastie menu shows on both, but doesn't have the auto-timeout= for boot, and only accepts input from keyboard. Login works from both consoles. When my settings are the same above except for the line "console=3Dcomconsole" instead of "console=3Dcomconsole,efi" All console output/input works fine from the serial port, but nothing appea= rs on the monitor until actual OS starts to boot. Autoboot from the beastie me= nu works fine in this mode, but GELI passphrase and beastie menu don't appear = on the monitor. When my settings are the same above except for the line "console=3Dcomconsole, vidconsole" instead of "console=3Dcomconsole,efi" (l= ike before the efi booting) I get "console vidconsole is invalid!" and everything else is the same as i= f I just had the comconsole as above. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Thu May 5 06:23:21 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 08C2BB2E74B for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 06:23:21 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id EDB911FEC for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 06:23:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u456NJ4C098318 for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 06:23:20 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209147] freebsd-update not working in 10.3-RELEASE Date: Thu, 05 May 2016 06:23:19 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 10.3-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Many People X-Bugzilla-Who: sa.inbox@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: resolution bug_status Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Thu, 05 May 2016 11:23:24 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 05 May 2016 06:23:21 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D209147 Alexander changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|FIXED |--- Status|Closed |New --- Comment #7 from Alexander --- recent updates released on 2016-05-04 are not available for 10.3-RELEASE am= d64 # freebsd-version -ku 10.3-RELEASE 10.3-RELEASE-p1 # freebsd-update fetch install Looking up update.FreeBSD.org mirrors... 4 mirrors found. If so, bummer. The pattern for me here on my production machines is that during backup the machine will panic, *always* during the root filesystem backup. The system is all-ZFS and the backups are done using zfs send, after creati= ng a snapshot (which rolls so you wind up with a duplicate of the existing file structure over time.) The system also uses timed snapshots that roll off so recovery of files is simple if they're accidentally deleted or modified wit= hout resorting to the backups. The panic is usually (but not always) preceded by a snapshot that is presen= t, cannot be destroyed, but *also* cannot be CD'd into. Once that condition exists the following is also true: 1. If you *reboot* the box the condition is cleared and all is well; the sy= stem will *not* panic in that instance. 2. If you attempt to zfs send a stream that *includes* the "orphan" snapshot the machine will panic in dounmount (identical behavior to the traces posted here) every time. 3. You cannot zfs destroy the "rogue" snapshot that is present in the direc= tory but cannot be cd'd into. These three things make it possible for my backup script to, most of the ti= me, detect the panic condition on the backup run *before* the one that blows up. What I've been unable to do, however, is reproduce a test case that reliably leaves the system in the pre-panic state. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Thu May 5 20:30:13 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 2450DB2E0C1 for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 20:30:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 12C801CEB for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 20:30:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u45KUCdh023703 for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 20:30:12 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 208365] [umass] Cannot fsck 3TB USB disk Date: Thu, 05 May 2016 20:30:13 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.0-CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: phk@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: royger@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Thu, 05 May 2016 21:22:22 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 05 May 2016 20:30:13 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D208365 --- Comment #34 from Poul-Henning Kamp --- still on r298283M, 15 days uptime, no trouble seen. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Thu May 5 20:35:17 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DF427B2E2F0 for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 20:35:17 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id D01E51070 for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 20:35:17 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u45KZGsS038086 for ; Thu, 5 May 2016 20:35:17 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209147] freebsd-update not working in 10.3-RELEASE Date: Thu, 05 May 2016 20:35:17 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 10.3-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Many People X-Bugzilla-Who: adamw@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_status Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Thu, 05 May 2016 21:22:42 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 05 May 2016 20:35:18 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D209147 Adam Weinberger changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status|New |In Progress --- Comment #11 from Adam Weinberger --- (In reply to gkontos from comment #10) Yes. Systems working w/o problem: - 10.1-STABLE / r281235 Systems tested with drops: - 10.2-STABLE / r292035M - 10.3-STABLE / r298705 - 11.0-CURRENT / r295683 (downloaded snapshot from ftp.freebsd.org) - 11.0-CURRENT Melifaro Routing Branch / r297731M While testing, when errors happen I can see output errs on the vlan port on= the output from "netstat -w1 -I vlan6" input vlan6 output packets errs idrops bytes packets errs bytes colls 1 0 0 66 30557 2 33310968 0 1 0 0 105 31458 3 33912219 0 2 0 0 2954 32001 8 34983986 0 1 0 0 1512 33150 6 35942558 0 1 0 0 1512 33654 4 37311862 0 1 0 0 1512 34825 3 38213793 0 3 0 0 1683 35376 4 39488912 0 5 0 0 7280 32423 3 35551869 0 Problems may happen under high load (~200Kpps) or low load (~30Kpps) on a v= lan port.=20 The observed frame loss never happens on untagged ports, only vlan related. The observed loss happens with packets sized 900 bytes and above but notice= ably loss rate is higher with packets close to 1400 (1472 is my reference size). Loss rate on all listed systems different from r281235 is 9-19% with ping(1) and iperf, while it's 0% (no loss or very irrelevant loss) on r281235. Hardware tried: - Intel 82599EB 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection (2x2 on x8 PCIe bus, total 4x10G). - Chelsio T520, 2x2 on x8PCIe bus, total 4x10G Exactly the same behavior, so it's not Intel related/exclusive. Same hardware: I always test the very same hardware, I have two SSD drives in this router,= one for the 10.1 which just runs fine and the other disk to test the various versions of FreeBSD. Sysctl/loader: Only minor loader and sysctl confs are tweaked: kern.hz=3D2000 net.inet.ip.redirect=3D1 # do not send IP redirects net.inet.ip.accept_sourceroute=3D0 # drop source routed packets since = they ca net.inet.ip.sourceroute=3D0 # if source routed packets are acce= pted th net.inet.tcp.drop_synfin=3D1 # SYN/FIN packets get dropped on in= itial c net.inet.udp.blackhole=3D1 # drop udp packets destined for clo= sed soc net.inet.tcp.blackhole=3D2 # drop tcp packets destined for clo= sed por security.bsd.see_other_uids=3D0 Netstat output when errors happen: input vlan6 output packets errs idrops bytes packets errs bytes colls 1 0 0 66 30557 2 33310968 0 1 0 0 105 31458 3 33912219 0 2 0 0 2954 32001 8 34983986 0 1 0 0 1512 33150 6 35942558 0 1 0 0 1512 33654 4 37311862 0 1 0 0 1512 34825 3 38213793 0 3 0 0 1683 35376 4 39488912 0 5 0 0 7280 32423 3 35551869 0 No relevant errors on the phisical ix(4) o cxl(4) ports happen. It's very easy to simulate/reproduce in my environment, I just need to boot= a newer system and very soon some vlan start to drop packets which are not dropped on 10.1-STABLE and I can be contacted if a developer want to ssh in= . I can also updated this PR with more informatio if needed. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Sat May 7 20:22:04 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 18648B32C9F for ; Sat, 7 May 2016 20:22:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id E3EF0170F for ; Sat, 7 May 2016 20:22:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u47KM3jP045538 for ; Sat, 7 May 2016 20:22:03 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209368] [PATCH] bsnmpd: snmp_hostres: Only refresh devtree if devd event is a new or removed device Date: Sat, 07 May 2016 20:22:03 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: new X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: bin X-Bugzilla-Version: 10.0-STABLE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: patch X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: marcus@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: bug_id short_desc product version rep_platform op_sys bug_status keywords bug_severity priority component assigned_to reporter cc attachments.created Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Sat, 07 May 2016 20:31:05 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 07 May 2016 20:22:04 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D209368 Bug ID: 209368 Summary: [PATCH] bsnmpd: snmp_hostres: Only refresh devtree if devd event is a new or removed device Product: Base System Version: 10.0-STABLE Hardware: amd64 OS: Any Status: New Keywords: patch Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: bin Assignee: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: marcus@FreeBSD.org CC: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org CC: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Keywords: patch Created attachment 170101 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=3D170101&action= =3Dedit Only refresh device table on a device add or remove event In a recent update of 10-STABLE, devd began spewing: !system=3DCAM subsystem=3Dperiph type=3Derror device=3Dcd0 serial=3D"10000000000000000001" cam_status=3D"0xcc" scsi_status=3D2 scsi_se= nse=3D"70 02 3a 00" CDB=3D"00 00 00 00 00 00 "=20 This caused bsnmpd to take up nearly 100% of the CPU refreshing the devtree table every second. Admittedly, this is an issue in the CAM driver, but why refresh the whole tree each time a device is not either inserted or removed? The attached patch corrects this by only refreshing the devtree when a devi= ce is added or removed. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.=
