Chernikov --- I'm sorry for disappearing for several month w/o handling this issue. Also, many thanks for Guy Yur for analysing the problem - indeed, all interface/loopback routes are installed w link-level sockaddr_dl "gateway" (used solely to save ifnet index of the target interface) and w/o RTF_GATE= WAY flag. I totally forgot this case when making this change. The problem here is that sockaddr_dl is a pretty big structure (64 bytes vs 32-byte sockaddr_in6) so most of the users (which actually don't care about these "gateway" would still need to allocate this buffer in order to avoid receiving ENOMEM). Will think about it a bit and come w/ fix tomorrow. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Mon Jun 6 21:52:49 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 5F616B6362E for ; Mon, 6 Jun 2016 21:52:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 48E731AD5 for ; Mon, 6 Jun 2016 21:52:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u56LqnHi004143 for ; Mon, 6 Jun 2016 21:52:49 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209944] kernel panic when trying to EFI boot from memory disk Date: Mon, 06 Jun 2016 21:52:49 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 10.3-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: uefi X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: tehnerd@tehnerd.com X-Bugzilla-Status: Closed X-Bugzilla-Resolution: Not A Bug X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: freebsd-bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: resolution bug_status Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Mailman-Approved-At: Tue, 07 Jun 2016 00:16:22 +0000 X-BeenThere: freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.22 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting FreeBSD to the AMD64 platform List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 06 Jun 2016 21:52:49 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D209944 Nikita changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Resolution|--- |Not A Bug Status|New |Closed --- Comment #1 from Nikita --- The reason why mem allocation was failing is because default value of EFI_STAGING_SIZE is 48M, and if mfsroot is bigger than that - booting fails. building a custom loader.efi w/ value for EFI_STAGING_SIZE bigger than mfsroot's size fixed this panic. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Wed Jun 8 06:32:40 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6BCECB6FC8C for ; Wed, 8 Jun 2016 06:32:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5C63C1AF7 for ; Wed, 8 Jun 2016 06:32:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id u586Wd3C018671 for ; Wed, 8 Jun 2016 06:32:40 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-amd64@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 209099] ata2: already running! We are running FreeBSD 10.3-STABLE #3 r300822. I believe I have this same issue. I was using salt minion to update this machine and it hung (several times). Prior to the hang I would always see t= he console message: ata2: already running! The machine would continue to run for a short period of time and then become unresponsive. A few minutes later I might get a panic otherwise it would ju= st=20 be in a hung state. I was able to pull apart the minion and found it was camcontrol causing the issue. I create a script that looped over the command: camcontrol identify ada0=20 and I am able to cause the system to either hang or panic regularly. Using the kernel debugger I was able to glean this information: spin lock 0xffffffff816f17e0 (sleepq chain) held by 0xfffff800g panic: spin lock held too long=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 cpuid =3D 6=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 KDB: stack backtrace:=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 db_trace_self_wrapper() at db_trace_self_wrapper+0x2b/frame 0xfffffe046562e= 800=20=20 kdb_backtrace() at kdb_backtrace+0x39/frame 0xfffffe046562e8b0=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 vpanic() at vpanic+0x126/frame 0xfffffe046562e8f0=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 panic() at panic+0x43/frame 0xfffffe046562e950=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 _mtx_lock_spin_cookie() at _mtx_lock_spin_cookie+0x287/frame 0xfffffe046562= e9c0=20 wakeup() at wakeup+0xf/frame 0xfffffe046562e9e0=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 vnlru_proc() at vnlru_proc+0x157/frame 0xfffffe046562ea70=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 fork_exit() at fork_exit+0x9a/frame 0xfffffe046562eab0=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 fork_trampoline() at fork_trampoline+0xe/frame 0xfffffe046562eab0=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 --- trap 0, rip =3D 0, rsp =3D 0, rbp =3D 0 ---=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20 KDB: enter: panic=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 [ thread pid 20 tid 100078 ]=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20=20 Stopped at kdb_enter+0x3e: movq $0,kdb_why If salt is disabled and I dont run camcontrol commands, this machine is sta= ble. CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-5675C CPU @ 3.10GHz (3092.90-MHz K8-class CPU) The Board: Gigabyte H97N WIFI The problem happens on an actual 10.3 and 11-CURRENT. Tested it on both versions. I tested it via internal em0 and re0. I also tested it on em-Interface on PCI-X. vmm_load=3D"YES" ... just that runs fine. As soon as I include one of the three Network Interface into pptdevs (/boot/loader.conf), the same problem occurs. On all 3 NICs the same. The Kernel boots and suddenly after it detaches lots of Devices. Then it's not = able to mount root (in these cases via ZFS; but I suggest it would be the same on UFS, because the device has been gone). I also tested it on a Mac Mini Late 2014. There it works; except for OpenBS= D as guest OS. There I get interrupt mapping issues. But that's a different kind= of problem and may be an Issue of OpenBSD drivers. With FreeBSD guest I can use the NIC without problems with PCI passthrough.=20 So, the problem seems to be there with Broadwell and Skylake. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-amd64@freebsd.org Sat Jun 11 11:25:29 2016 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-amd64@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3D1F5AEFA6B for ; The reason is that when building the FreeBSD kernel on those systems flags -lbsd -ldb are also need= ed. Thanks! --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.=
