I think I have a similar problem, but with IPv6 and pf! :-( - Problem to load e.g. https://www.heise.de on the first try - Can not connect to Skype for Business over IPv6 (unfortunately I sometimes need it for job) Everything else is obviously working. Are you sure you have it in right point of the config? This is critical for it to take effect. Please see mpd.conf.sample for example. Doesn't mpd complain of this command to its log? Make sure you have 'log +iface +iface2' command in your mpd.conf, restart mpd5 and scan its log for 'tcpmssfix'. Can you send the log to me, it you still have the problem? This resulted in an invalid instruction fault for all 32-bit platforms. When INVARIANTS is set the union where the two uninitialized fields reside gets properly zeroed. This patch ensures the two uninitialized fields are zeroed when INVARIANTS is undefined. For 64-bit platforms this issue was not visible because so->sol_upcall which is uninitialized overlaps with so->so_rcv.sb_state which is already zero during soalloc(); For 32-bit platforms this issue was visible and resulted in an invalid instruction fault, because so->sol_upcall overlaps with so->so_rcv.sb_sel which is always initialized to a valid data pointer during soalloc(). Verifying the offset locations mentioned above are identical is left as an exercise to the reader. I also got messages about wrong ip length when I started dhclient for ue0. If I plug my device into a usb 2.0 port and enable flow control, I get networking speeds that are around 250 Mbit/sec. If flow control is disabled and the device is still connected to the usb 2.0 port, then I get speeds around 200 Mbit/sec. When the device is attached to a usb 3.0 port and the flow control is enabled, I get speeds that are around 128 Mbit/sec. The speeds drop to something like 40 Mbit/sec when the flow control is disabled and the device is still attached to the usb 3.0 port. But I enabled flow control only on one machine. It was the machine to which the device was attached to. I didn't enable flow control on the other machine on the network, but I am sure my speeds won't get much improvement even if it's enabled on both machines. Since I just joined the list, let me copy and paste Shteryana's email message that she wrote a while back: Hi all, I've experienced a similar problem but didn't get to analyzing it deeper (or reporting) unfortunately ; the device is ugen0.8: at usbus0, cfg=0 md=HOST spd=SUPER (5.0Gbps) pwr=ON (124mA) bLength = 0x0012 bDescriptorType = 0x0001 bcdUSB = 0x0300 bDeviceClass = 0x00ff bDeviceSubClass = 0x00ff bDeviceProtocol = 0x0000 bMaxPacketSize0 = 0x0009 idVendor = 0x0b95 idProduct = 0x1790 bcdDevice = 0x0100 iManufacturer = 0x0001 iProduct = 0x0002 iSerialNumber = 0x0003 <000000000000C> bNumConfigurations = 0x0001 what I've noticed so far - dhclient complains about wrong ip length - % sudo dhclient ue1 DHCPDISCOVER on ue1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 7 ifconDHCPDISCOVER on ue1 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 15 ip length 328 disagrees with bytes received 332. accepting packet with data after udp payload. If I attach the device on a USB2 port (or force USB2 speed on the port) I was able to get ~ 150-200Mbits on the same system with the same device. This particular system has an Intel Lynx Point USB 3.0 controller pciconf -lv | grep -A 4 xhcixhci0 at pci0 :0:20:0: class=0x0c0330 card=0x8179103c chip=0x8c318086 rev=0x05 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '8 Series/C220 Series Chipset Family USB xHCI' class = serial bus subclass = USB ,is running FreeBSD 12.0-CURRENT #19 r315483M (M stands for a patch similar to https://people.freebsd.org/~syrinx/freebsd_xhci-20170318-01.diff needed to trick the controller on that particular system to actually use USB3.0 speeds). The same ASIX AX88179 device worked just fine reaching over 500 Mbits/sec on another system running 11.0-RELEASE-p7 with a different USB 3 controller (will double check and report back at first opportunity). Hope this helps. cheers, Shteryana From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Wed Jul 5 11:05:15 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 23B7EDA8596 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 11:05:15 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marius@alchemy.franken.de) Received: from alchemy.franken.de (alchemy.franken.de [194.94.249.214]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "alchemy.franken.de", Issuer "alchemy.franken.de" (not verified)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B5E047C8B9 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 11:05:14 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from marius@alchemy.franken.de) Received: from alchemy.franken.de (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by alchemy.franken.de (8.15.2/8.15.2/ALCHEMY.FRANKEN.DE) with ESMTPS id v65B5CDF028219 (version=TLSv1.2 cipher=DHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 bits=256 verify=NO); Wed, 5 Jul 2017 13:05:12 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from marius@alchemy.franken.de) Received: (from marius@localhost) by alchemy.franken.de (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id v65B5CJD028218; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 13:05:12 +0200 (CEST) (envelope-from marius) Date: Wed, 5 Jul 2017 13:05:12 +0200 From: Marius Strobl To: Vincenzo Maffione Cc: FreeBSD Net Subject: Re: NULL pointer dereference bug triggered by netmap Message-ID: <20170705110512.GA28058@alchemy.franken.de> References: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline In-Reply-To: User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.24 (2015-08-30) X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 11:05:15 -0000 On Mon, Jul 03, 2017 at 05:08:09PM +0200, Vincenzo Maffione wrote: > Details here: > > https://github.com/luigirizzo/netmap/issues/322 > > Is it acceptable to commit the proposed patch? As suggested by hselasky@, the outliner problem at hand is better solved by a dummy if_start method in order to not hurt the fast-path. Thus, if anything at all, a KASSERT(ifp->if_start != NULL, "no if_start method") should be added to if_handoff() and if_start(). It didn't show on CPU state as uwrlck anymore. The process was running as usual, but all customers connected stopped working. I tried to check both mpd5 console and web but didn't answer. I tried to killall -QUIT mpd5 process with no success, I try to kill -9 the= pid process with no success as well. Looks like a zombie process. At last i tried to reboot the server, and didn't work. I had to reset the server to boot again. :( --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Wed Jul 5 17:48:39 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id EB7D8D8C096 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 17:48:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id D9525657FC for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 17:48:39 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v65HmdLa060850 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 17:48:39 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 186114] net/mpd5 hangs after a certain number of users connect Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 17:48:39 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash, needs-qa X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: eugen@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: Normal X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: eugen@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback+ X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: flagtypes.name Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 17:48:40 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D186114 Eugene Grosbein changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flags|maintainer-feedback?(mav@Fr |maintainer-feedback+ |eeBSD.org) | --- Comment #102 from Eugene Grosbein --- mav@ is not maintainer of net/mpd5 anymore. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Wed Jul 5 18:01:26 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C85B5D8C502 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 18:01:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id B610665DF2 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 18:01:26 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v65I1OZv098985 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 18:01:26 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 186114] net/mpd5 hangs after a certain number of users connect Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 18:01:25 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash, needs-qa X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: eugen@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: Normal X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: eugen@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback+ X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 18:01:26 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D186114 --- Comment #103 from Eugene Grosbein --- (In reply to Cassiano Peixoto from comment #101) In fact, a zombie process is not a process anymore. It does not prevent your from restarting new instance of mpd5. Did you look at ps output to check re= al state of mpd5 or tried to restart it? Also, a process may become a zombie only if it did not detach properly at s= tart as normal daemons do (and mpd5 does it) AND its parent does not properly re= ap its children. init(8) does it just fine for normal daemons including mpd5. Do you run mpd5 in detached mode using -b flag? If so, I highly doubt it be= came a zombie. More likely, it could stuck in some uninterruptable system call b= ut that's pretty unusual too. If you run mpd5 in "foreground" mode using another supervising daemon like init(8) itself, that's another story. And what did you have in the log of mpd5 corresponding that time? You showed no diagnostics: ps -l output, mpd logs, kernel dmesg logs, something? And system reboot cleans it all, so it seems you had some external problem = just that took more time to disappear and second reboot just gave it that time. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Wed Jul 5 19:09:04 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 65D3FD8D98A for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 19:09:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 5381067E18 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 19:09:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from bugs.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v65J91Fi013891 for ; Wed, 5 Jul 2017 19:09:04 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: freebsd-net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 186114] net/mpd5 hangs after a certain number of users connect Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 19:09:01 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Ports & Packages X-Bugzilla-Component: Individual Port(s) X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: crash, needs-qa X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: peixoto.cassiano@gmail.com X-Bugzilla-Status: In Progress X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: Normal X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: eugen@freebsd.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: maintainer-feedback+ X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 05 Jul 2017 19:09:04 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D186114 --- Comment #104 from Cassiano Peixoto --- Hi, It wasn't zombie, it looks like zombie because the kind of behavior. How do you start mpd5 - do you use its standard startup (rc.d) script and or not and what does "ps -ax | grep mpd" show? I mean its arguments. If whis problem repeats, use "ps -axH" to see all threads of mpd5 and their states and top -H for the same purpose. As for "Accessing freed hook": it seems my patch for ng_iface from the PR 220076 is not complete.
