The fix appeared to be quite simple in = the end - I had to replace =E2=80=98radeon=E2=80=99 in my driver line = for my device section in xorg.conf with =E2=80=98modesetting=E2=80=99. = Apparently I probably also want Option "AccelMethod" = =E2=80=9Cglamor=E2=80=9D to enable 2D acceleration and need to add Load = =E2=80=9Cglamoregl=E2=80=9D to my modules section. None of this was documented. I looked in the UPDATING entries for = xorg-drivers and xorg, on the freebsd-x11 mailing list archives and in = the form and didn=E2=80=99t find anything relevant. Given that this = update apparently broken any existing xorg.conf files that were = configured to use DRI drivers, I imagine that other people were hit by = it (though anyone using auto config was probably okay), so some public = announcement (ideally in the UPDATING file, telling me I needed to = update my config when I upgraded xorg-drivers) would have been nice. The fix appeared to be quite simple in the end - I had to replace ‘radeon’ in my driver line for my device section in xorg.conf with ‘modesetting’. Apparently I probably also want Option "AccelMethod" “glamor” to enable 2D acceleration and need to add Load “glamoregl” to my modules section. what was the error you were getting that indicated the radeon driver no longer works (out of curiosity)? the modesetting driver is intended to work closely with DRM, but I believe you can still use the radeon driver if you have DRM working on your system (I interchange the intel and modesetting driver pretty frequently for example). also - I'm guessing this is on 11-CURRENT? -pete -- Pete Wright pete@nomadlogic.org @nomadlogicLA From owner-freebsd-x11@freebsd.org Wed Jun 7 08:36:22 2017 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id CC58DBFEA95 for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (unknown [127.0.1.3]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B42F767128 for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id B3912BFEA94; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: x11@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B333EBFEA93 for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: from portscout.ysv.freebsd.org (portscout.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:6]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id A52DB67127 for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: from portscout.ysv.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.123]) by portscout.ysv.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id v578aMJ9015970 for ; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Received: (from portscout@localhost) by portscout.ysv.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id v578aMVK015969; Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 GMT (envelope-from portscout@FreeBSD.org) Message-Id: <201706070836.v578aMVK015969@portscout.ysv.freebsd.org> X-Authentication-Warning: portscout.ysv.freebsd.org: portscout set sender to portscout@FreeBSD.org using -f Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Content-Type: text/plain MIME-Version: 1.0 Date: Wed, 7 Jun 2017 08:36:22 +0000 From: portscout@FreeBSD.org To: x11@freebsd.org Subject: FreeBSD ports you maintain which are out of date X-Mailer: portscout/0.8.1 X-BeenThere: freebsd-x11@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.23 Precedence: list List-Id: X11 on FreeBSD -- maintaining and support List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Wed, 07 Jun 2017 08:36:22 -0000 Dear port maintainer, The portscout new distfile checker has detected that one or more of your ports appears to be out of date.
