Hi Andriy, Auch, that is a first in 12 years of using ZFS. "Fortunately" it was of a test ZVOL->iSCSI->Win10 disk on which I spool my CAMs. Removing the ZVOL actually fixed the rebooting, but now the question is: Is the remainder of the zpools on the same disks in danger? --WjW From owner-freebsd-stable@freebsd.org Mon Jun 11 11:01:39 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-stable@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id E9A1D10122E2 for ; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 11:01:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from agapon@gmail.com) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 6D23F7D96E for ; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 11:01:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from agapon@gmail.com) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 3212F10122D9; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 11:01:38 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: stable@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0D4FA10122D2 for ; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 11:01:38 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from agapon@gmail.com) Received: from mail-lf0-f43.google.com (mail-lf0-f43.google.com [209.85.215.43]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "Google Internet Authority G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 2E9427D964 for ; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 11:01:37 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from agapon@gmail.com) Received: by mail-lf0-f43.google.com with SMTP id 36-v6so29836725lfr.11 for ; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 04:01:37 -0700 (PDT) X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:subject:to:references:from:openpgp:autocrypt :message-id:date:user-agent:mime-version:in-reply-to :content-language:content-transfer-encoding; bh=2ZIQA4B+9nlzo5tpI79PfTdPuBf2NDH0wfTbqdtITEc=; b=Y1Pi2xKnw11bEyTiwJ6WGG25Um7cI038Dji01NVnd1G/pSMCzmw/rooI8Kt8nxwTrw 2s8keAItBHTNibiEbQS4az2vGeNw03vna3k7E74Gavg1uZ8EubhspbsRluJlXblUhcF8 eA8ea9sQruWBaPdsmqf2fiLrQs6093uSnkiVhaAbBNvMLik9RolBLSDQXInPXQaAMgbL wpkm2WX2GuJ/2CRrvUjuL7/GpywgH1rxi/YwCy+Ij6Z6X/BY+nlXfWz5e4a8C4wPPGs4 VSpM5vfmrjvJjA+D9W7UyuzhEZJHTa9H4V0pFhYZkka91ZJ77+d2T/r+XSkXqDTHHeXW 7EHA== X-Gm-Message-State: APt69E0ISpwmXVILHUBZAYYZtyIzlyKQJEPy5WwIkt7Jrs+BxicDhXPI c57A++qfOyf3NAn3O6ry/8i6o0H6 X-Google-Smtp-Source: ADUXVKLIuQ3e7VdrsxCbleDFL8Vq7nvzUXborA2PYdSwmzXuYFD25iR6/GOTeptQt+6JN3QQDCKJzg== X-Received: by 2002:a2e:6548:: with SMTP id z69-v6mr8924901ljb.116.1528714387377; Mon, 11 Jun 2018 03:53:07 -0700 (PDT) Received: from [192.168.0.88] (east.meadow.volia.net. I had a similar problem that turned out to be a broken caching SSD. Scrubbing didn't help a bit because it reported that data was okay. And SMART was fine as well. Fortunately I could still send/recv snapshots to a backup disk but wasn't able to replace the SSDs without a pool restore. ZFS just wouldn't sync some older ZIL data to disk and also wouldn't release the SSDs from the pool. Did you also check the logs for entries that look like broken RAM? If something is fishy here then ZFS should inform you that there is still "dirty" data that has to be synced if you you try to remove the cache. I don't know the exact message but it is pretty clear. Check out this thread on current. I re-ran the tests I did in Feb to lockup the Ryzen box, and they are ok now with the latest micro code updates from AMD. I will let the tests run a good 48hrs, but in the past it would only take 5-10 min to cause a hard lockup https://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2018-June/069799.html ---Mike -- ------------------- Mike Tancsa, tel +1 519 651 3400 x203 Sentex Communications, mike@sentex.net Providing Internet services since 1994 www.sentex.net Cambridge, Ontario Canada From owner-freebsd-stable@freebsd.org Thu Jun 14 01:24:04 2018 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-stable@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 15934100C853 for ; Thu, 14 Jun 2018 01:24:04 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nimrod@nimrod.is-a-geek.net) Received: from mail-yw0-x22d.google.com (mail-yw0-x22d.google.com [IPv6:2607:f8b0:4002:c05::22d]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES128-GCM-SHA256 (128/128 bits)) (Client CN "smtp.gmail.com", Issuer "Google Internet Authority G2" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 9DF2F68377 for ; Thu, 14 Jun 2018 01:24:03 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from nimrod@nimrod.is-a-geek.net) Received: by mail-yw0-x22d.google.com with SMTP id p129-v6so1570963ywg.7 for ; Wed, 13 Jun 2018 18:24:03 -0700 (PDT) DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=gmail.com; s=20161025; h=mime-version:references:in-reply-to:from:date:message-id:subject:to :cc; bh=PAiHdgQ4NeTZAC00tmdggM1WMWl7fammNJnLoxCQDYU=; b=sWLBZ1QShG3VrHkP/W3ZyF+8sqmz6xhZazBziNqsINLsbFrQS2hxDQ33Bdj38RHDG2 QPoTruYl5TqlcawuP3Q+f6NnxUdQLvl2uuRcptGjbfrbMVJBsoPwuTKKNZ+ICQU/DAZ9 nTHPFeic6zOp/u9LLICEaCUKQoCYDgErIy6QHAD+ByiRl3wHo4NX9K8NYxJdl8RefN8L mre00Bv58BpcVlm/G6pIIMsf8uY98Vb3kun1MFIGUWm5UeHQ3mcPMwfLk9trTtG3j1KC 9Ui6fkPI+t/Zu0nMSMVe6nJKvwCRcBHLqrLq/uvY8/grsLlT0MvGH2POV2WlzFU6GNLw jITQ== X-Google-DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=relaxed/relaxed; d=1e100.net; s=20161025; h=x-gm-message-state:mime-version:references:in-reply-to:from:date :message-id:subject:to:cc; bh=PAiHdgQ4NeTZAC00tmdggM1WMWl7fammNJnLoxCQDYU=; b=RmTjJJARJbUdzsKSnq80qKuQOoBDfS+isY7Xebc+hALspBY1MuxT0krPE74L32/Yw6 zE9mQHXOQnVunPPPRv/xPhvRC/Ai6/pbz8gExYvqjhy9uN1DEwsUIb1oXEzQr/+MEPwu MaHIAOLRReZ9RshT388Fr8CA/pjkN3j8Ss++O31UFLrSX43YI9eqjt9eu1QT8lCme4Jl 7uX4GWMxtOQkba2ppeZvPi977vJYFUhnOgMdkpRba0WuBy4kX7vaCg1fI5BFOrwKJEOi EAXrKrRV5n4EXeUJ1DgyKx7NY0SnpNHLx+UZ9fzdBXNq7R08YoojnH4VMPYlQvnli/4A hnnA== X-Gm-Message-State: APt69E0fw8MDXdS0x58yDqGtnWohxjcR8zc7r4JvPdgV/I0atyzkmZaH BEplAuYoqDcE5BBPqzS5erR1JD2iWNahGd3r/VyWFfL/ X-Google-Smtp-Source: ADUXVKIziN6DRxEvco2hjYb+1HRfLG6Ki4q/veCFTDYxywG3wIjCMYglkM6UBFleh5JWO/8/f8tYbU7xqqzPbE7IkmA= X-Received: by 2002:a81:5ac6:: with SMTP id o189-v6mr272986ywb.444.1528939442426; Wed, 13 Jun 2018 18:24:02 -0700 (PDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 References: <92fd230d-f99a-185d-a2c0-c84eed5b8bc5@sentex.net> In-Reply-To: <92fd230d-f99a-185d-a2c0-c84eed5b8bc5@sentex.net> From: Nimrod Levy Date: Wed, 13 Jun 2018 21:23:47 -0400 Message-ID: Subject: Re: Ryzen issues on FreeBSD ? I updated to the latest BIOS last time I saw a lockup and I've been stable for 30 days which I think is a new record for this system. I installed the port to update the microcode and it showed that I already had the latest version, so I assume it came with the BIOS update. In any case, this is encouraging information. I was already running the latest microcode, but have also now flashed my BIOS and applied the shell script fixes from that thread. Will try running with SMT re-enabled next week, as I need the machine not to lockup the next few days when I am not in the office, but it looks very promising. -pete. If you notice problems you can report them through the Bugzilla PR system or on the -stable mailing list. If you would like to use SVN to do a source based update of an existing system, use the "releng/11.2" branch. A summary of changes since 11.2-RC2 includes: o Minor update to the ocs_fc(4) driver. o Add missed libc++ entries to OptionalObsoleteFiles.inc and ObsoleteFiles.inc that were left over from the libc++ 5.0.0 to 6.0.0 update. o Eager FPU context switch has been enabled on i386 and amd64. A list of changes since 11.1-RELEASE is available in the releng/11.2 release notes: https://www.freebsd.org/releases/11.2R/relnotes.html Please note, the release notes page is not yet complete, and will be updated on an ongoing basis as the 11.2-RELEASE cycle progresses. === Virtual Machine Disk Images === VM disk images are available for the amd64 and i386 architectures. Disk images may be downloaded from the following URL (or any of the FreeBSD FTP mirrors): https://download.freebsd.org/ftp/releases/VM-IMAGES/11.2-RC3/ The partition layout is: ~ 16 kB - freebsd-boot GPT partition type (bootfs GPT label) ~ 1 GB - freebsd-swap GPT partition type (swapfs GPT label) ~ 20 GB - freebsd-ufs GPT partition type (rootfs GPT label) The disk images are available in QCOW2, VHD, VMDK, and raw disk image formats. The image download size is approximately 135 MB and 165 MB respectively (amd64/i386), decompressing to a 21 GB sparse image. Note regarding arm64/aarch64 virtual machine images: a modified QEMU EFI loader file is needed for qemu-system-aarch64 to be able to boot the virtual machine images. Alternatively, the user can install misc/compat10x and other compatibility libraries, afterwards the system must be rebooted into the new userland: # shutdown -r now Finally, after rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to remove stale files: # freebsd-update install == ISO CHECKSUMS == o 11.2-RC3 amd64 GENERIC: SHA512 (FreeBSD-11.2-RC3-amd64-bootonly.iso) = Frames from the guest make it through ng_ether(4), but frames coming from ng_ether(4) seem to choke this direction. Initially, the guest successfully can get a DHCP lease (both, v4 and v6) and all DNS traffic is passed successfully, but as soon as the first TCP transmission with some payload happens (jumbo frames, but quick test showed that also 1514-frames choke the LAN->guest direction), not even ARP replys reach the guest anymore. At least they are traversing ng_ether(4).  So there's either a general netgraph(4) problem or vboxnetflt(4) problem on -current. To rule out a known vboxnetflt(4) limitation/failure, I'd like to know if somebody successfully uses vboxnetflt(4) from virtualbox-ose-kmod-5.2.12 on stable/11|11.2.
