I notice that the HowTo page is nine years old and wonder if anything needs updating... I did notice that the SHEEVAPLUG kernel configuration file in the HowTo page is truncated. Any idea what's missing? As for the SD Card reader support, has that ever existed? In the Wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SheevaPlug it says it had FreeBSD support, so would assume a Card must have need available at one time.. I'm particularly interested in the GOFLEX HOME unit and would love to find a config file which lets me use a hard disk. I have it booting from a USB stick but have hit a brick wall providing hard disk access. I guess I'll put the GFH on the back burner and concentrate on the SheevaPlug. Back than ARM Support was a lot less mature and anything file system related was painfully slow, because of the damn VIVT caches that required special flags when mounting UFS to avoid running into aliassing problems. When some "smart" userland code e.g. the perl5.8 build ran into similar caching problem the kernel had to disable all caching for the aliased memory mappings. This increased the perl5.8.9 build time to >25 hours. I have downloaded the armada-3720-community-v7.dtb file from = globalscaletechnologies.com. After I get it onto the usb stick, I am not sure of the command(s) = needed to load it into memory. Nor, am I sure of any other settings I need to make in order to boot = FreeBSD from the usb stick. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I couldn't find any reference. In my BeagleBone Black the boot messages and login prompt go to /dev/ttyu0. With the peripherals I use, that port is not physically accessible, and I'd like to use /dev/ttyu1 instead. I'm able to get login prompt on ttyu1 by editing /etc/ttys, which is good and perfectly works as main console, but the boot messages obviously go to ttyu0: % grep '^uart' /var/run/dmesg.boot uart0: mem 0x44e09000-0x44e0afff irq 11 on simplebus0 uart0: console (115384,n,8,1) uart1: mem 0x48024000-0x48025fff irq 13 on simplebus0 I tried setting flags by adding "hint.uart.*" to /boot/device.hints, but it doesn't help. I recompiled the FDT (am335x-boneblack.dtb) with disabled uart0 hoping that the only enabled uart2 will be used as the default console. Now the former /dev/ttyu1 becomes /dev/ttyu0, but the kernel still doesn't consider it the default console: % grep '^uart' /var/run/dmesg.boot uart0: mem 0x48024000-0x48025fff irq 13 on simplebus0 Thanks for ideas and directions! Every night I make an image, which can be downloaded at www.jarasoft.net/rpi The raspberry pi is running FreeBSD 12.0-STABLE build a fee weeks ago and now I want to update this working FreeBSD. I could make a new image and install everything from the start but that will take a lot of time or can this be automated? On the other end I could use the builded binaries from my VPS, copy them to the Pi and run make install kernel and make install world? Is this being done??? Or is there another way? Thanks Jack Raats
