I am us= ing m.2 NVMe based storage, and am unsure what is needed to set the NVMe path correctly. An Example GRUB configuration: menuentry "FreeBSD 12" { insmod bsd insmod ufs2 set root=3D'(hd2,gpt7)' #Assuming 'h= d2' is GRUB assigned kfreebsd /boot/kernel/kernel kfreebsd_loadenv /boot/device.hints kfreebsd_module /boot/splash.bmp type=3Dsplash_image_data set kFreeBSD.vfs.root.mountfrom=3Dufs:/dev/nvd0p7 #Assuming 'n= vd0' is BSD assigned (Tried 'nvme0n1p7') set kFreeBSD.vfs.root.mountfrom.options=3Drw boot } An Example Device tree: nvd0 GPT %Boot Drive nvd0p1 ms-recovery *MS Windows nvd0p2 efi *MS Windows nvd0p3 ms-reserved *MS Windows nvd0p4 ms-basic-data *MS Windows Data nvd0p5 linux-data *Linux nvd0p6 efi #GRUB Location nvd0p7 freebsd-ufs #FreeBSD 12 Root ada0 GPT=20 ada0p1 linux-data *Linux Home ada1 GPT ada1p1 ms-basic-data *MS Windows Data da0 #FreeBSD 12 USB da0p1 efi #FreeBSD 12 USB da0p2 freebsd-boot #FreeBSD 12 USB An Example of /dev: m.2 NVME PCIe Drive: /dev/nvd0 /dev/nvd0p1 /dev/nvd0p2 /dev/nvd0p3, etc. USB 3.0 USB Install: /dev/nvme0 /dev/nvme0ns1 OBSERVATIONS: Using the FreeBSD Install media, I was able to chroot into my installation and see how fstab was configured, and how FreeBSD named device= s. However, looking under '/dev' directory, I noticed my USB drive was being labelled as 'nvme0'. If I had fewer partitions on my boot drive, this could have easily lead me to more headache. Another interesting thing is upon updating grub, it identified an "unknown linux" drive at '/dev/nvme0n1p7 CONCLUSION: I believe these naming conventions should be updated in the documentation, as a newish user I am still learning differences, and I beli= eve dual-booting is an entry point for a lot of new users. NVMe drives are beco= ming more competitive in price, and are becoming more widely used, and having th= is information would have saved me a lot of time. I still am not able to boot into my FreeBSD system, I am just getting a bla= ck screen and the system seems locked, and using all of the device identifiers above, am still stuck. However, this could be a result of one of my other G= RUB options not being used properly, just still not 100% on the device name. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Sun Jun 16 21:24:49 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 77C8C15CAE32 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from www-data@FreeBSD.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 173376A812 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from www-data@FreeBSD.org) Received: from build-web.ysv.freebsd.org (build-web.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:6504]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 375441D2A1 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:48 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from www-data@FreeBSD.org) Received: from build-web.ysv.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.2]) by build-web.ysv.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x5GLOl3e009736 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:47 GMT (envelope-from www-data@build-web.ysv.freebsd.org) Received: (from www-data@localhost) by build-web.ysv.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x5GLOlHM009734 for freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:47 GMT (envelope-from www-data) Date: Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:47 GMT From: User Www-data Message-Id: <201906162124.x5GLOlHM009734@build-web.ysv.freebsd.org> To: freebsd-doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: FreeBSD web build failed on build-web.ysv.freebsd.org X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 16 Jun 2019 21:24:49 -0000 /usr/local/www/build/head/es_ES.ISO8859-1/articles/remote-install/article.xml:7: element default:address: validity error : No declaration for attribute xmlns of element default:address personname> ^ /usr/local/www/build/head/es_ES.ISO8859-1/articles/remote-install/article.xml:9: element affiliation: validity error : Element affiliation content does not follow the DTD, expecting (shortaffil? All I know is that "man smtp" produces = "No manual entry for snmp". --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Sun Jun 16 22:40:13 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 48DBC15CC301 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:13 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D0FE06C63A for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 91B6715CC2FE; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:12 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 7DC2E15CC2FD for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 156F46C639 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:12 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 357831DCD0 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:11 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x5GMeB5g090180 for ; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:11 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x5GMeAh8090178 for doc@FreeBSD.org; Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:10 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 238409] avahi-daemon(8) man page -- incorrect pathname Date: Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:09 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Component: Manual Pages X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: rfg-freebsd@tristatelogic.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 16 Jun 2019 22:40:13 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D238409 --- Comment #2 from Ronald F. The other two man pages that I mentioned however are indeed missing from the base system, i.e. the ones for: unbound.conf(5) nsd(8) Also and additionally, the contents of the file /var/unbound/unbound.conf o= n a freshly installed 12.0-RELEASE system cntain the following lines: # This file was generated by local-unbound-setup. # Modifications will be overwritten. And indeed, there is a program installed on this system, presumably as part= of the base system, called /usr/sbin/local-unbound-setup Unfortunately, this program also has no man page. I hope that this omission can be corrected also. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Mon Jun 17 07:15:42 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0390815AF678 for ; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:42 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8D84A82D70 for ; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 4781715AF672; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:41 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 3490215AF671 for ; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:41 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id C1E9482D6F for ; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 0A0A4278D for ; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:40 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x5H7FdWp005640 for ; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:39 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x5H7FcOe005626 for doc@FreeBSD.org; Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:38 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: doc@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 238643] missing man pages: unbound.conf(5), local-unbound-checkconf(8), nsd(8) Date: Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:33 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: CC X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Documentation X-Bugzilla-Component: Manual Pages X-Bugzilla-Version: Latest X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: rfg-freebsd@tristatelogic.com X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: bugs@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-doc@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Documentation project List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 17 Jun 2019 07:15:42 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D238643 --- Comment #2 from Ronald F. Grimes --- (In reply to Ronald F. Guilmette from comment #0) I am a bit confused, as your talking about both lpr and lpd and it sounds a= s if your asking for lpd behavior to be documented in the lpr man page, which I = do not think is desirable. This may also purely be a typographical mistake. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-doc@freebsd.org Fri Jun 21 07:27:08 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-doc@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F32EE15D2EAF for ;
