To change the number of descriptors in the queues, use the "dev.em.0.iflib.override_ntxds" and "dev.em.0.iflib.override_nrxds" sysctls. These are marked as tunables, so you can also set these in /boot/loader.con= f, and iflib should use these values when the driver is loaded. For "options EM_MULTIQUEUE", it appears that only really changed the driver= for the 82574 adapter in 11, so that option wouldn't have applied to your i217 adapter. Regardless, that functionality has been turned on by default for M= SI-X capable em cards (which 82574 is the only one so far), so the option isn't needed anymore. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Wed Jan 2 18:45:07 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 412A0142C772 for ; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:07 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id D03146B328 for ; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 939A1142C771; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:06 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 81DB5142C770 for ; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 1ACCD6B326 for ; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:06 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 595FE164B7 for ; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:05 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x02Ij54r003335 for ; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:05 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x02Ij5Bg003334 for net@FreeBSD.org; Wed, 2 Jan 2019 18:45:05 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 234570] em(4) 12.0 regressions: Does not function after resume, hw.em.{txd,rxd} ignored, deprecated EM_MULTIQUEUE performance loss Date: Wed, 02 Jan 2019 18:45:05 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 12.0-STABLE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: IntelNetworking, needs-qa, performance, regression X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: zarychtam@plan-b.pwste.edu.pl X-Bugzilla-Status: Open X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: net@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: mfc-stable12? Likely only one of them seems to be multiq= ueue capable. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Thu Jan 3 19:43:20 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 10E071434B57 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:20 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 8FC438BBE4 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id 5349E1434B56; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:19 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 418D31434B55 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:19 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id C29AD8BBE2 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:18 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 1462D41E4 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:18 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x03JhHNo098931 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:17 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x03JhHJd098930 for net@FreeBSD.org; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 19:43:17 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 234472] Missing outgoing CARP traffic on interface Date: Thu, 03 Jan 2019 19:43:18 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: 11.2-RELEASE X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Only Me X-Bugzilla-Who: pgadmin@pse-consulting.de X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: net@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 03 Jan 2019 19:43:20 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D234472 --- Comment #2 from Andreas Pflug --- I posted on this topic on the opnsense forum: https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=3D6228.0 and https://forum.opnsense.org/index.php?topic=3D6290.0 I'm not using IP aliases, thus the ~20 virtual IPs. The problem started with an update of opnsense from 17.1.x to 17.7, both us= ing FreeBSD11.=20 In the meantime, I have duplicated those routers in a virtual environment (Xen), with firewall and virtual IP settings copied, and do NOT see that problem there. The NIC on the problematic interface is an on-board 1GB. After a mainboard failure, the NIC driver changed from igb to ix, the problem persisted. The bad behaving interface doesn't use vlan or lagg, while well-behaving do have lagg and/or vlans defined. --=20 You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.= From owner-freebsd-net@freebsd.org Thu Jan 3 21:55:58 2019 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 74AFE1438AFE for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (mailman.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::50:5]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0FD4B6B3FD for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:58 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) id C77801438AFD; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:57 +0000 (UTC) Delivered-To: net@mailman.ysv.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id B5CAA1438AFC for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:57 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::19:3]) (using TLSv1.3 with cipher TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384 (256/256 bits) server-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-signature RSA-PSS (4096 bits) client-digest SHA256) (Client CN "mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org", Issuer "Let's Encrypt Authority X3" (verified OK)) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 531956B3F8 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:57 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org (kenobi.freebsd.org [IPv6:2001:1900:2254:206a::16:76]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mxrelay.ysv.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 65AC554E3 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:56 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: from kenobi.freebsd.org ([127.0.1.118]) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2) with ESMTP id x03LtuNM002202 for ; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:56 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) Received: (from www@localhost) by kenobi.freebsd.org (8.15.2/8.15.2/Submit) id x03LtuRF002201 for net@FreeBSD.org; Thu, 3 Jan 2019 21:55:56 GMT (envelope-from bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org) X-Authentication-Warning: kenobi.freebsd.org: www set sender to bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org using -f From: bugzilla-noreply@freebsd.org To: net@FreeBSD.org Subject: [Bug 233535] Machines lost ping6 after adding same IPv6 address Date: Thu, 03 Jan 2019 21:55:56 +0000 X-Bugzilla-Reason: AssignedTo X-Bugzilla-Type: changed X-Bugzilla-Watch-Reason: None X-Bugzilla-Product: Base System X-Bugzilla-Component: kern X-Bugzilla-Version: CURRENT X-Bugzilla-Keywords: X-Bugzilla-Severity: Affects Some People X-Bugzilla-Who: hselasky@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Status: New X-Bugzilla-Resolution: X-Bugzilla-Priority: --- X-Bugzilla-Assigned-To: net@FreeBSD.org X-Bugzilla-Flags: X-Bugzilla-Changed-Fields: attachments.isobsolete attachments.created Message-ID: In-Reply-To: References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable X-Bugzilla-URL: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/ Auto-Submitted: auto-generated MIME-Version: 1.0 X-BeenThere: freebsd-net@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.29 Precedence: list List-Id: Networking and TCP/IP with FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Thu, 03 Jan 2019 21:55:58 -0000 https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3D233535 Hans Petter Selasky changed: What |Removed |Added ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attachment #200699|0 |1 is obsolete| | --- Comment #22 from Hans Petter Selasky --- Created attachment 200753 --> https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/attachment.cgi?id=3D200753&action= =3Dedit Fix missing decrement of refcount in IPv6 code (w/ additional debug code) Minor kernel compile fix. I have confirmed that by having same hardware running v11.2 (amd64), and that is working without any issue. Preamble: The "infrastructure" in question is running mostly Juniper devices, and the routers are advertising everything. So the only thing (related to IPv6) I have in my rc.conf are ifconfig_em0_ipv6="inet6 accept_rtadv" rtsold_enable="YES" This gives the machines an IPv6 from the intended subnet, and also configures the defaultroute for the devices em0: flags=8843 metric 0 mtu 1500 options=81209b ether 52:54:00:1a:a4:1a inet6 fe80::e:f:11:12:a41a%em0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet6 a:b:c:d:e:f:11:12:a41a prefixlen 64 autoconf inet 172.16.1.23 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 172.16.1.255 media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT ) status: active nd6 options=23 # netstat -nr Routing tables Internet: Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire default 172.16.1.1 UGS em0 127.0.0.1 link#2 UH lo0 172.16.1.0/24 link#1 U em0 172.16.1.23 link#1 UHS lo0 Internet6: Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire ::/96 ::1 UGRS lo0 default fe80::e:f:11:12:200%em0 UG em0 ::1 link#2 UH lo0 ::ffff:0.0.0.0/96 ::1 UGRS lo0 a:b:c:d::/64 link#1 U em0 a:b:c:d:e:f:11:12:a41a link#1 UHS lo0 fe80::/10 ::1 UGRS lo0 fe80::%em0/64 link#1 U em0 fe80::e:f:11:12:a41a%em0 link#1 UHS lo0 fe80::%lo0/64 link#2 U lo0 fe80::1%lo0 link#2 UHS lo0 ff02::/16 Problem: In FreeBSD v12, if I do a tcpdump, it appears that the router is constantly asking who has my IP, and the machine is not responding to it at all. The problem is NOT with link local -- link local works fine, it is the global one that is not working. i.e., I can ping the router without any issue, I can also ping any of the machines within the same subnet. But the moment I leave the subnet, the connection does not work. The router keeps on sending neighbor solicitation packets which are ignored by my machine. I do not have source loaded on the computer, so might need a bit of time to apply the patch. Given that this is not a link local issue (I think), do you still want me to try out the patch? I've also discovered something odd: once TSO has been disabled on an interf= ace, or if it was disabled at boot, I'm unable to subsequently trigger the issue= on a tagged interface. Either turning TSO on after boot for some reason doesn= 't cause the problem, or my attempts to turn TSO on after boot are failing. I= 'm not really sure how to check for definite, but I do seee that the tsx_tx counters don't increase from 0 in this case, so I suspect TSO hasn't really been re-enabled for some reason: Booted with TSO disabled on ix0: 19:09:27 root@filer:/root/ sysctl dev.ix.0 | grep -i tso dev.ix.0.queue3.tso_tx: 0 dev.ix.0.queue2.tso_tx: 0 dev.ix.0.queue1.tso_tx: 0 dev.ix.0.queue0.tso_tx: 0 Enable TSO: 19:15:11 root@filer:/root/ ifconfig ix0 tso TX test shows good behaviour: 19:18:00 root@filer:/root/ iperf3 -c 10.21.10.4 Connecting to host 10.21.10.4, port 5201 [ 5] local 10.21.10.2 port 54437 connected to 10.21.10.4 port 5201 [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr Cwnd [ 5] 0.00-1.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.90 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 1.00-2.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.88 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 2.00-3.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.89 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 3.00-4.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.90 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 4.00-5.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.90 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 5.00-6.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.89 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 6.00-7.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.89 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 7.00-8.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.88 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 8.00-9.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.90 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 [ 5] 9.00-10.00 sec 1.15 GBytes 9.90 Gbits/sec 0 1.09 MBytes=20= =20=20=20=20=20=20 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - [ ID] Interval Transfer Bitrate Retr [ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 11.5 GBytes 9.89 Gbits/sec 0 sender [ 5] 0.00-10.00 sec 11.5 GBytes 9.89 Gbits/sec recei= ver Re-check TSO counters, discover they haven't increased: 19:18:11 root@filer:/root/ sysctl dev.ix.0 | grep -i tso dev.ix.0.queue3.tso_tx: 0 dev.ix.0.queue2.tso_tx: 0 dev.ix.0.queue1.tso_tx: 0 dev.ix.0.queue0.tso_tx: 0 I'm pretty much out of ideas as to how to proceeed with diagnosis at this point.
