Upstream only recently made it possible to apply each FFmpeg patch together. Before that SVTAV1 and SVTVP9 used a special version of the patch aimed to apply after another which was very fragile during updates. Alternatively, you can send a fix upstream. I have other ports to maintain, so rarely dedicate a lot of time to a particular upstream. Fetching packages from the standard FreeBSD repos for ports with default = options is a long requested feature. Of course I understand it will not be = implemented by elves and neither do we have the knowledge and manpower to help in this = particular area. What I am interested in: there are a handful to a dozen ports that take = exceptionally long to build. GCC, LLVM, rustlang =E2=80=A6=20 Notably these are all =E2=80=9Einfrastructure=E2=80=9C ports that are = built as dependencies and we do not change the options of any of them. Did anyone implement a lean hack = for a few selected packages to be fetched as binaries? E.g. check if they are newer in the FreeBSD quarterly repo, put them in = our own repo, rebuild the repo index and then start poudriere bulk =E2=80=A6? Would that work? I have a very hackish way to fetch the dependencies packages before build: https://github.com/lwhsu/freebsd-ports-libreoffice/blob/master/porttest.sh#= L52-L54 It works, but not perfect, and sometimes not very useful when the new packages haven't hit the official repository. I 'git clone'd /usr/src this morning (European time) and find "reverted r363031" in the logs, so I would have assumed this is fixed ... though perhaps not in a way I can make use of. Doing "sudo ./boot-strap" in contrib/bmake didn't help (I don't know whether it should have .. it seemed the next logical step). so, in short, what can I do to get back to building ports? The error above was fixed in FreeBSD r363035, by reverting r363031 as=20 you've already found out. In order to fix it locally you need to update=20 your FreeBSD system. Updating FreeBSD Current is generally accomplished=20 by rebuilding and installing it from source. Users can head over to clamav.net/downloads to download the release materials. ClamAV 0.102.4 is a bug patch release to address the following issues: CVE-2020-3350 Fixed a vulnerability a malicious user could exploit to replace a scan target's directory with a symlink to another path to trick clamscan, clamdscan, or clamonacc into removing or moving a different file (such as a critical system file). The issue would affect users that use the --move or --remove options for clamscan, clamdscan and clamonacc. For more information about AV quarantine attacks using links, see RACK911 Lab's report . CVE-2020-3327 Fixed a vulnerability in the ARJ archive-parsing module in ClamAV 0.102.3 that could cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. Improper bounds checking resulted in an out-of-bounds read that could cause a crash. The previous fix for this CVE in version 0.102.3 was incomplete. This fix correctly resolves the issue. CVE-2020-3481 Fixed a vulnerability in the EGG archive module in ClamAV 0.102.0 - 0.102.3 that could cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. Improper error handling could cause a crash due to a NULL pointer dereference. This vulnerability is mitigated for those using the official ClamAV signature databases because the file type signatures in daily.cvd will not enable the EGG archive parser in affected versions. I built the port with Poudriere on a 13.0-CURRENT box. It builts and installs fine. As far as I can say after testing with some types of files, the following works as expected: - opening .odt, .docx, .xlsx - saving the same formats - opening encrypted files - exporting to pdf Using SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=kf5, rendering seems fine for me. Could hardly await the final release of libreoffice and the port :) Best wishes, Rainer From owner-freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Sat Jul 18 01:39:57 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: classroom or school management applications (eg, scheduling classes), - applications, utilities, or games primarily or substantially designed to help the user learn a specific topic or study in general, like typing tutors, flashcard applications, or educational games. This category would be useful because some of these applications are in non-obvious categories, making them hard to find if you don't already know about them. For instance, if I had not already known about anki or mnemosyne, I don't think it would have occurred to me to look for them under games. Based on a search of the port tree for the strings "educat" and "learn" and weeding out obvious false positives, the following 72 ports appear to belong in that category: astro/marble astro/nightfall biology/figtree biology/py-scikit-bio cad/basicdsp cad/feappv cad/logisim comms/gtkmmorse deskutils/docear deskutils/fet devel/elfkickers devel/raylib devel/thonny emulators/edumips64 games/anki games/colobot games/crashtest games/crrcsim games/gcompris-qt games/kanagram games/katomic games/nimuh games/py-mnemosyne games/robocode games/robocode-naval games/tuxmath games/tuxtype graphics/geomview graphics/libreatlas japanese/kiten japanese/slimeforest lang/kturtle math/R-cran-LearnBayes math/analitza math/geogebra math/geonext math/kalgebra math/kbruch math/kig math/kmplot math/octave-forge-ltfat math/rocs math/timbl math/ump misc/artikulate misc/kdeedu misc/kgeography misc/klettres misc/ktouch misc/kwordquiz misc/lingoteach misc/parley misc/pauker misc/py-orange3-educational multimedia/projectx net/ns3 print/jabref science/fisicalab science/kalzium science/libccp4 science/py-qspin science/step sysutils/hourglass textproc/popup textproc/py-nltk www/efront www/ilias www/ilias6 www/moodle35 www/moodle37 www/moodle38 www/moodle39 Observant readers will notice that there are 10 misc/* ports in that category. I do not, however, know whether that is enough to justify making it a physical category with all the additional work involved. Things that would need to be changed if that proposal is accepted: - The Makefiles for all these ports - The section on port categories of the Porter's Handbook - Possibly other things I'm missing All comments or constructive criticism gratefully accepted. I would suggest that a sub-category of "suggested learning path" programs might be an asset as well, including useful languages to examine. We might also consider resurrecting Knuth's code+language concepts and tools. Assuming this category is accepted, I would then suggest an announcement post to the FreeBSD-advocacy@ and FreeBSD-women@ lists, and perhaps notification to the KDE and EduBuntu core lists. :D Don Wilde **************************************************** * What is the Internet of Things but a system * * of systems including humans? * **************************************************** From owner-freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Sat Jul 18 18:16:29 2020 Return-Path: Delivered-To: freebsd-ports@mailman.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mailman.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 9FF3D370914 for ; Sat, 18 Jul 2020 18:16:29 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from pauamma@gundo.com) Received: from mail.gundo.com (gibson.gundo.com [75.145.166.65]) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 4B8GQh6dnhz4ZQ1 for ; Sat, 18 Jul 2020 18:16:27 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from pauamma@gundo.com) Received: from webmail.gundo.com (variax.gundo.com [75.145.166.70]) by mail.gundo.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id DBC7D4C1B36 for ; Sat, 18 Jul 2020 13:16:26 -0500 (CDT) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; format=flowed Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Date: Sat, 18 Jul 2020 18:16:26 +0000 From: Pau Amma To: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org Subject: Re: RFD: proposed new (likely virtual) category, education In-Reply-To: References: <342ff706e1eb34f7283e24107fd03ded@gundo.com> <91dc3ebd-56a4-5779-84d1-09ae7a820791@heuristicsystems.com.au> <6cab9a5f37fdd3df47252165cb2b19fa@gundo.com> User-Agent: Roundcube Webmail/1.4.1 Message-ID: <9fbe1a5e070d76e2cc581321c21bb608@gundo.com> X-Sender: pauamma@gundo.com X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 4B8GQh6dnhz4ZQ1 X-Spamd-Bar: -- Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=none; dmarc=none; spf=pass (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of pauamma@gundo.com designates 75.145.166.65 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=pauamma@gundo.com X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-2.23 / 15.00]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-0.73)[-0.733]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; RWL_MAILSPIKE_GOOD(0.00)[75.145.166.65:from]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_ALL(0.00)[]; R_SPF_ALLOW(-0.20)[+a]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; TO_DN_NONE(0.00)[]; PREVIOUSLY_DELIVERED(0.00)[freebsd-ports@freebsd.org]; RCPT_COUNT_ONE(0.00)[1]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-0.88)[-0.877]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[gundo.com]; RCVD_IN_DNSWL_MED(-0.20)[75.145.166.65:from]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-0.22)[-0.223]; RCVD_NO_TLS_LAST(0.10)[]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; ASN(0.00)[asn:7922, ipnet:75.144.0.0/13, country:US]; RCVD_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; MID_RHS_MATCH_FROM(0.00)[] X-BeenThere: freebsd-ports@freebsd.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.33 Precedence: list List-Id: Porting software to FreeBSD List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sat, 18 Jul 2020 18:16:29 -0000 On 2020-07-18 15:41, Don Wilde wrote: > On 7/18/20 5:21 AM, Pau Amma wrote: >> On 2020-07-18 06:22, Dewayne Geraghty wrote: >>> On 18/07/2020 1:09 pm, Pau Amma wrote: >>>> This category would comprise ports that are mainly educational in >>>> nature >>>> or purpose, such as: >>>> - course-writing or course-delivery applications, >>>> - classroom or school management applications (eg, scheduling >>>> classes), >>>> - applications, utilities, or games primarily or substantially >>>> designed >>>> to help the user learn a specific topic or study in general, like >>>> typing >>>> tutors, flashcard applications, or educational games. >>> ... >>> >>> Great idea Pau! >>> >>> You might like to add www/sakai though its quite dated (ports is >>> 10.2; >>> current version 20.1) >> >> Indeed.
