I did a "pkg update" + "pkg upgrade" just today. BIOS is also at the latest available. Laptop boots fine with or without power connected. Whenever I connect or disconnect A/C power, it panics immediately and drops me into kdb. Since at that moment I'm dropped into the console at that moment, I only see part of the stack backtraces - two of them to be precise: The first seems to be be repeated several times; I see two instances thereof, it starts with Code: WARNING !dmr_modeset_is_locked(plane->mutex) failed at ... #0 0xf.... at linux_dump_stack+0x23 ... the second one has cpuid and a timestamp and then: Code: KDB: stack backtrace: --- trap 0xc, rip ... -- amdgpu_pm_acpi_event_handler() at amdgpu_pm_acpi_event_handler+0x69/frame 0x... amdgpu_acpi_event() at amdgpu_acpi_event+0x62/frame 0x... linux_handle_acpi_acad_event() at linux_handle_acpi_acad_event+0x3c/frame 0x... ... this happens on resume if I disconnect power during sleep. I think it may be relevant that I'm seeing tons of these three messages in the logs and on the text console: Code: Jul 31 18:02:30 hbeast kernel: Firmware Error (ACPI): AE_AML_PACKAGE_LIMIT, Index (0x000000005) is beyond end of object (length 0x5) (20210604/exoparg2-569) Jul 31 18:02:30 hbeast kernel: ACPI Error: Aborting method \_TZ.GTTP due to previous error (AE_AML_PACKAGE_LIMIT) (20210604/psparse-689) Jul 31 18:02:30 hbeast kernel: ACPI Error: Aborting method \_TZ.CHGZ._TMP due to previous error (AE_AML_PACKAGE_LIMIT) (20210604/psparse-689) ... roughly every ten seconds. I'd be grateful for any pointers or advice to get my power management fixed. I have yet to test w/o graphics driver (as someone suggested I do). regards & TIA Michael -- Michael Schuster http://recursiveramblings.wordpress.com/ recursion, n: see 'recursion' --000000000000cd0c7905c8999066-- From nobody Tue Aug 3 15:12:13 2021 X-Original-To: freebsd-current@mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org Received: from mx1.freebsd.org (mx1.freebsd.org [IPv6:2610:1c1:1:606c::19:1]) by mlmmj.nyi.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id C3A3B1343189 for ; Tue, 3 Aug 2021 15:12:50 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd@walstatt-de.de) Received: from smtp2-2.goneo.de (smtp2.goneo.de [IPv6:2001:1640:5::8:33]) (using TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)) (Client did not present a certificate) by mx1.freebsd.org (Postfix) with ESMTPS id 4GfJJx6P5xz4jV4 for ; Tue, 3 Aug 2021 15:12:49 +0000 (UTC) (envelope-from freebsd@walstatt-de.de) Received: from thor.intern.walstatt.dynvpn.de (dynamic-077-013-105-013.77.13.pool.telefonica.de [77.13.105.13]) by smtp2.goneo.de (Postfix) with ESMTPSA id 0DAC72040DA5 for ; Tue, 3 Aug 2021 17:12:41 +0200 (CEST) Date: Tue, 3 Aug 2021 17:12:13 +0200 From: FreeBSD User To: FreeBSD CURRENT Subject: /usr/share/mk/bsd.sanitizer.mk not found Message-ID: <20210803171240.411dd367@thor.intern.walstatt.dynvpn.de> Organization: walstatt-de.de List-Id: Discussions about the use of FreeBSD-current List-Archive: https://lists.freebsd.org/archives/freebsd-current List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: Sender: owner-freebsd-current@freebsd.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Rspamd-Queue-Id: 4GfJJx6P5xz4jV4 X-Spamd-Bar: -- Authentication-Results: mx1.freebsd.org; dkim=none; dmarc=none; spf=none (mx1.freebsd.org: domain of freebsd@walstatt-de.de has no SPF policy when checking 2001:1640:5::8:33) smtp.mailfrom=freebsd@walstatt-de.de X-Spamd-Result: default: False [-2.20 / 15.00]; RCVD_VIA_SMTP_AUTH(0.00)[]; ARC_NA(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_MEDIUM(-1.00)[-1.000]; FROM_HAS_DN(0.00)[]; TO_MATCH_ENVRCPT_ALL(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_LONG(-1.00)[-1.000]; MIME_GOOD(-0.10)[text/plain]; PREVIOUSLY_DELIVERED(0.00)[freebsd-current@freebsd.org]; DMARC_NA(0.00)[walstatt-de.de]; AUTH_NA(1.00)[]; RCPT_COUNT_ONE(0.00)[1]; HAS_ORG_HEADER(0.00)[]; TO_DN_ALL(0.00)[]; NEURAL_HAM_SHORT(-1.00)[-0.999]; R_SPF_NA(0.00)[no SPF record]; FROM_EQ_ENVFROM(0.00)[]; R_DKIM_NA(0.00)[]; MIME_TRACE(0.00)[0:+]; RCVD_COUNT_TWO(0.00)[2]; ASN(0.00)[asn:25394, ipnet:2001:1640::/32, country:DE]; RCVD_TLS_ALL(0.00)[]; RCVD_IN_DNSWL_LOW(-0.10)[2001:1640:5::8:33:from] X-ThisMailContainsUnwantedMimeParts: N Hallo, running latest CURRENT as of FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT #147 main-n248437-600745f1e226: Mon Aug 2 18:34:54 CEST 2021 amd64, while compiling x11/nividia-driver, I get an error, stating /usr/share/mk/bsd.sanitizer.mk is missing. I haven't used UFS for over a decade now and the official cloud images are all UFS, so I end up doing an install from the CD ISO into Hyper-V locally and then exporting the VHD, but that can't be the most efficient way of getting a FreeBSD VHD with ZFS. I haven't been able to find any documentation and reading the release scripts they seem to hard-code UFS. When I looked closer at this it turns out that something was blocking the threads for longer amounts of time, up to 100 ms at random. After some debugging I eventually found: sysctl machdep.idle machdep.idle: acpi machdep.idle_available: spin, mwait, hlt, acpi And when I set it to: sysctl machdep.idle=spin The problems I saw vanished. Is there a tool / command to do this? I've hit this problem in the past: I have multiple FreeBSD VMs that are all created from the same template and if one dies I can't import its zpool into another because they have the same UUID. It doesn't matter for modern deployments where the VM is stateless and reimaged periodically but it's annoying for classic deployments where I have things I care about on the VM. I have an Ryzen 5800X-based HP Omen 30L desktop, and don't have any issues, but the Omen has a Nvidia GPU and not a Radeon. I don't do live TV at all, haven't done so in a while. Two other PCs I had, both with Ryzen 3700Xs, my former Omen Obelisk and a homebuilt ASRockRack X470D4U server had no issues either. The server obviously doesn't have a GPU but both the 30L and Obelisk could play Toontown Rewritten under Wine without a hitch. I don't know which brand of PC or motherboard you have, but HP and ASRockRack both have no issues whatsoever. Not sure about regular ASRock (or HPE) though. Intel TigerLake/"Evo" was way more buggy for me than Ryzen ever was (not just drm-kmod). I ended up selling my TGL laptop and am in fact getting an Ryzen-based laptop to replace it. > --HPS -Neel (nc@) From nobody Sun Aug 8 00:10:50 2021 X-Original-To: All systems in question are dual stack and fully configured using IPv6. Firewall is FreeBSD standard IPFW running from /etc/rc.conf (port 5432/tcp is open and listening as one can check via sockstat -4 or sockstat -6). The hosts in question do run 14-CURRENT (with customized kernels). Phenomenon: Login locally via "psql -U postgres -d postgres" via socket works for ALL DB users on all configured to access databases as expected. Login via "psql -U postgres -d postgres -h localhost" (or any form of an IP if access tried from another remote host, even locally via 127.0.0.1 or ::1) does result in: : psql -U postgres -d postgres -h localhost psql: error: server closed the connection unexpectedly This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request. On the server's postgresql log I always see connection attempts like: [...] 2021-08-08 08:56:57.601 GMT [42987] LOG: connection received: host=localhost port=12340 but nothing more, no error message or any kind of timeout message. I tried to raise the log level to debug, but it is always nothing shown execept the initial connection attempt. What I tried so far: I used either self compiled ports or packages taken via pkg fetch from the official FreeBSD pkg repos. I had LLVM suspected to miscompile something on IvyBridge. No different result so far. Postgres 12, 13 14 fail the same way. I installed with the above strategy vanilla databases. That includes a pg_hba.conf with the follwoing lines (as anybody can proof): [...] # TYPE DATABASE USER ADDRESS METHOD # "local" is for Unix domain socket connections only local all all trust # IPv4 local connections: host all all 127.0.0.1/32 trust # IPv6 local connections: host all all ::1/128 trust host all all 0.0.0.0/32 trust host all all ::/128 trust That should grant access via "localhost" and, for test purposes, access from any other machine in our LAN for any user to any database. We use a very similar customized kernel there, except for the SCSI/SAS controller and some mellanox NICs (the box in question is a Fujitsu, dual socket system). The mysterious thing here is: nothing unusual on that box! I can run the DB in a regular manner, login from external sites/services, use the DB for the cloud service and login via localhost. And now I'm out of ideas and it slowly drives my crazy. Is there something I miss? Appreciate help, thanks in advance and kind regards Oliver -- O. After working on it for a bit, = I came to the conclusion that the approach was the wrong way around and = what I actually wanted to do was describe the config file and reflect = that into code. I=E2=80=99ve written a tool (still quite WIP, but now in a usable state) = that takes a JSON Schema describing the config file and produces some = modern idiomatic C++ wrappers for exposing it. JSON Schema is the same = format the UCL can validate, so you can write the schema once, use it to = validate config files, and also use it to generate the code that exposes = the config files into your program. I hope it=E2=80=99s useful to anyone working on adding UCL support to = tools: https://github.com/davidchisnall/config-gen There are a couple of simple examples in the tests directory that show = the schema, some example configs, and the code used for accessing them.
