To add positive note to this, I just rebooted my dual PPro with newpcm and the
sound card was recognised and is working.

unknown1: <GAME> at port 0x200-0x207 on isa0

mpg123 and cat'ing a .au into /dev/audio works.

For reference, the old pcm code gave the following boot messages:
