I ran into this problem last night. I installed 2.1.0 from my Sony 31A
CD-ROM with no problems. When I booted and tried to load other packages off
the CD, I got "No device found" messages, as well.

My solution: Mount the CD and select the media type as "Filesystem" (I
think). It will ask you for the base directory. I mounted the CD to /cdrom
and specified it as such. The installation finished without a hitch.
