I read recently on cnet.com somewhere a story about Linux and how it will change the world. I thought I would help the FreeBSD cause and send him a message about FreeBSD. I have also included his responce. I am interested to hear any comments. I am aware of FreeBSD. I haven't actually used it myself; there are only so many hours in a day! But I have talked with several people and organizations who have used it and Linux and frankly you're the first to say it is better than Linux. I spent some time a few weeks ago with a guy who runs tech support at a pretty big ISP and he said they did a thorough eval of both and concluded that Linux, with the right configuration and add-ins, was vastly superior to FreeBSD on the security issue. Still, I will try to find the time to look into this subject more deeply myself. -------------------------------------------------- Dan Shafer, Editorial Director, CNET Builder.com dshafer@cnet.com - 415-395-7805, ext. 4100 <-- NEW AS OF 3/8/99!!!!! http://www.builder.com - http://buzz.builder.com The premier site for people who build Web sites -------------------------------------------------- Craig Beasland wrote: > Dan, > > I keep reading on the cNet web site each month about how Linux is > the best > thing since sliced bread.
