The arguments in favour of adding the id attributes are equally valid for all the translated versions; perhaps even more so, because 5.0 is the first major with a more-or-less complete DE handbook (and there are other teams who have their big day with 5.0-RELEASE, as well). > Still, I realize that I may have lingered a bit too much in looking into > this and pushing for this change. This will give the translation teams something 18 hours to catch up. And even if we need a little longer, we can always slide the tags (doc/ is not as critical as src/ and has historically always been tagged somewhat later). One part of this patch should be a small but important change to the Makefile for the Release Notes web build: www/*/relnotes/Makefile: - FORMATS=html\ html-split \ + FORMATS=html \ The reasons should be obvious. No part of the release notes web version uses or references the split html files. I am currently testing this patch with a local build; if the results pass muster, this will go into the tree for de_DE before 5.0. Just in case. And once all the id attributes have been added, somebody with root access to nwww should run a find $DOCROOT -name 'x*.html' -delete shortly before a build. Yes, this will screw up the X11 section of the handbook (among others), but this the only way to remove all the bit-rotting x*.html files. /s/Udo -- He who findeth sensuous pleasures in the bodies of lush, hot, pink damsels is not righteous, but he can have a lot more fun.
