	Yeah, I'd say at minimum you should deinstall all the perl stuff
you have and build it fresh from the port. Whether that will do it for you
or not depends on how hosed things are currently, which is why I suggested
a complete system upgrade. That way you will have the latest perl in the
base system and no need to fuss with confusing conflicts.
