Could be a multiprocessor problem. A good diagnostic might be to compile
a single processor kernel and see if the problem is still there.

Also, I seem to remember some SMP problems with 4.3 discovered shortly
after release. Check the mailing list archives for the -STABLE list and
consider upgrading to a recent -STABLE to see if it fixes your SMP problems
(if that's what it turns out to be)
