It might be more appropriate to say "A bourne shell first appeared as .Nm in
..." than to say explicitly that before then it wasn't.  Unless when saying
that '|' is the way to pipe data between commands, we want to mention that
it used to be '^'...  We should talk about what we have, and when it came in
to being, not what it was before.

Maybe I'm being too much of a pedant, though :)
