It didn't work for me. I'll need to find out why it didn't work for me.

I'll need to check that out. I recall at one time a person had to go to 
realvnc.com, register and download the opensource version. Seems that's 
still possible:

I'd prefer not to. The different versions of VNC are not 100% compatible 
with each other.
