dcomplex.cc:0: malformed option `-D '
*** Error code 1

I've got build stops with messages "malformed option `-D '" in the past
already. Maybe this kind of problem could be fixed once and for all?  I
can't see the problem in the above line, maybe the -DPIC is misplaced?
